Shiny new thread, continuing from here

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

Nuttyaboutnutella ‘tis the season! I used a generous amount of ras-al-hanout spice mix and it’s certainly given the soup a kick.

Bloodybridget · 05/11/2019 07:34

@AwkwardSquad your virtual brownie actually materialised on my plate in a café yesterday, thanks very much! Grin

AwkwardSquad · 05/11/2019 19:24

Excellent, BloodyBridget! Now what else can I materialise...

Two very thick slices of rye bread. One with marmite and half and avocado, one with butter and cheese.
Chocolate digestive
Bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon and salt and vinegar pop chips
Picked at cherry tomatoes, olives and blueberries.
That's me done for the day as I do 16/8. I usually eat a lot more veg but didn't have time to prepare it today.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 06/11/2019 17:06

Wobbly couple of days so just catching up. Yesterday I ate...

Breakfast - slice of warburtons malted loaf toasted with butter and marmite and coffee.

Lunch - A banana.

Dinner - Out for dinner and picked, cheesy chips topped with really delicious crispy chicken strips, salsa/salad and sweet chilli sauce with a Diet Coke. Not a healthy choice but I enjoyed it.

Today I’ve had...

Breakfast - slice of warburtons malted loaf toasted with butter and marmite and coffee.

Lunch - a handful of plain tortilla chips.

Dinner will be - a spicy tortilla quorn escalope with garlic and herb new potatoes, a corn on the cob and peas.

afternoonspray · 06/11/2019 17:09

a boiled egg
small bowl of sugar free granola with black cherries

bowl of Thai chicken soup and a small bread roll

3 glasses of water
2 coffees
1cup of tea
1 ginger infusion

Spanakopita and salad for dinner.

NabooThatsWho · 06/11/2019 17:51

B - Milky coffee
Late lunch - curried potato salad and leftover beef goulash
Dinner - Beef burgers and chips

Snacks - mini bag of skittles, 2 raw carrots, an apple, 2 packets of crisps, 2 Jaffa cakes, couple of slices of honeydew melon.

Drinks - about 1l water, cup of tea, glass of pure apple juice.

I feel so lethargic today, when I got home from work at 1.30pm all I thought about is what I can eat next.

AwkwardSquad · 06/11/2019 19:36

@Phycadelicsilhouette I misread that as malt loaf rather than malted loaf, so I was imagining the sweet fruity chewiness with marmite and thinking ‘hm, unusual combination’!

B - muesli, flaxseed, stewed apple, yoghurt
L - spicy carrot and lentil soup
D - smoked haddock, leek and potato soup with winter greens and a roll; slice of apple cake
Snacks - grapes, a little ‘easy peeler’ and two Doisy and Dom hazelnut butter cups

OP posts:
onlyhereforthefood · 06/11/2019 19:56

@Phycadelicsilhouette wobbly here too...hot chocolate is the answer I think...

B- golden syrup porridge pot
S- mini gingerbread man
L- spicy parsnip soup
S- pop chips and a satsuma
D- fish pie (ready meal) and baby corn
S- 2 crumpets with crunchy pb

trying to claw back some calories from not eating as much as usual yesterday!

Phycadelicsilhouette · 07/11/2019 18:53

@AwkwardSquad I both laughed and shuddered at the thought! I love marmite and I love malt loaf but not together!
@onlyhereforthefood sorry to hear you’ve been feeling a bit wobbly too, hot chocolate sounds wonderful, I can’t remember the last time I had one! Maybe I’ll treat myself in next weeks food shop. I wish I had calories to claw back! Grin

Today I’ve eaten...

Breakfast - a slice of warburtons malted loaf toasted with butter and marmite and coffee.

Lunch (a very late one) of - a slice of warburtons malted loaf toasted with butter and marmite and coffee. (It’s been a day of variety! Blush)

Dinner - cheese topped cottage pie and peas. It was nice although I made the mash slightly thinner than I usually do by accident.

Trying to be more sensible with the amount I’m eating in the lead up to Christmas so I can enjoy Christmas guilt free!

Nuttyaboutnutella · 07/11/2019 19:25

naboo have git a recipe for the curried potato salad? Soubds lovely

Phycadelicsilhouette cottage pie with cheese is the ultimate comfort food. Though I love cheese with anything 😂

I wasn't well the last few weeks. Thought it was just a bad cold/viral infection, turns out ive got a full blown chest infection on both sides. No wonder I've been feeling so run down!! Doctor gave me antibiotics today so wine I had planned for the weekend won't be happening...boo!

Today, I've had:
B - porridge with blueberries, hazelnuts & honey
L: homemade creamy tomato soup with ham & cheese toastie. A pear
D: proper butchers sausages (tomato flavour), with roasted carnival squash, tenderstem broccoli and green beans

Will have some chocolate or a hot chocolate later on

AwkwardSquad · 07/11/2019 19:38

B - the usual muesli etc, eaten on a train
L - a fishcake, a dollop of coleslaw and some salad leaves; melon slices; clementine; a few grapes, a tiny cube of carrot cake (so small it was almost homeopathic)
Snack - M&S sushi snack box, a few chocolate peanuts on another train
D - pasta pesto with parmesan and rocket; the rest of the bag of chocolate peanuts

OP posts:
AwkwardSquad · 07/11/2019 20:01

Add four rosemary crackers with butter. I’m definitely overtired, I’m mainlining carbs

OP posts:
onlyhereforthefood · 07/11/2019 20:04

B- protein porridge pot - must stop buying these and be more organised on work days!
S- satsuma
L- healthy living chicken salad sandwich, apple slices (meal deal)
S- banana and an options hot chocolate
D- cottage pie (gutted I didn't think of cheesy mash) and broccoli
S- handful pop chips from a big bag, original muller rice

Phycadelicsilhouette · 07/11/2019 23:12

It was delicious @Nuttyaboutnutella! And I don’t work Fridays so a leftover portion of that will be lunch tomorrow aswell!
Sorry to hear that you’ve been so poorly with illness and the dental work! Fingers crossed it’s all passing now! Your food diary today sounds delicious!
@AwkwardSquad I really must get chocolate peanuts next week too! Your train journey chocolate peanuts always have me craving them!
@onlyhereforthefood I’ll swap you my cheese topped mash for your muller rice? I haven’t eaten one in years! Another item on next weeks shop, I love this thread! Although the apple one is a close tie with the original, I think the original has to win!

I also have a frozen marshmallow to add on for today.
It was one of those huge ones out of the big bags of giant marshmallows for toasting. First time I’ve ever tried them frozen but it is truly so delicious and I don’t even like marshmallow all that much usually!

lastqueenofscotland · 07/11/2019 23:22

Leftover black bean and sweetcorn quesadillas
Just had more toast
