Shiny new thread, continuing from here

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

Barbed and Nutty such a beautiful country. We used to go there a lot when I was younger, but I hadn't been for ages. We went to the north, Llangollen was the place with the amazing chips!! I still keep thinking about them!!

Today was a bit less interesting:
B - pancakes with raspberries and yogurt
L - oatcakes with brie, an apple, slice of gingerbread
D - sort of stir fry with lemongrass and ginger noodles, broccoli, spring onions, carrots and salmon in a honey, orange and soy sauce marinade. And some spring rolls. And I may have sneaked some trick or treat sweets...

onlyhereforthefood · 31/10/2019 19:56

I'm having a bit of a sad day today and my appetite goes down hill big time!

B- apple and cinnamon porridge pot
L- vanilla skyr yoghurt, mini gingerbread man
D- cottage pie and veg
S- a few halloween sweets

Still more than many of you eat in a day!

AwkwardSquad · 31/10/2019 20:41

Sympathy, @onlyhereforthefood, treat yourself kindly and hope your mood lifts again before too long. Early night and a hot water bottle?

Breakfast - 2 x warm croissants with butter and jam with coffee.

Then went to the cinema with DC and friends to watch the Addams family and had a bag of maltesers, a handful (or 3) of popcorn and a flask of juice.

Lunch - out for a pub lunch and had a Brie and chilli jam buttermilk fried chicken burger with chips and onion rings.

Dinner - no real, substantial food. Just a cupcake and a coffee and then a few Halloween sweets.

Feeling really rubbish about what I’ve been eating lately. Going to a firework/bonfire show tomorrow night with DC and same friends and we’ve planned hot dogs and nachos for tea.
I will eat the treats tomorrow and then I really must cut out all the rubbish.
I needed to put a few stone on this year but I’m panicking very much about this awful eating lately so it must change!

AwkwardSquad · 01/11/2019 19:28

@Phycadelicsilhouette hope you all enjoyed the fireworks and bonfire!

B - usual muesli etc
L - frittata, beetroot salad, leaves; grapes and an apple
Lemon coconut energy ball
D - Indian takeaway. I chose veg side dishes - aloo gobi, matar paneer, chana dahl, with lemon rice and raita (homemade). Lush.

OP posts:
Nuttyaboutnutella · 01/11/2019 19:34

AwkwardSquad your takeaway sounds devine! That's what we're having tomorrow, new place that's opened up near ours. Hopefully my parents are having the kids so I can have a glass or two of wine!

Still feeling quite rotten but better than I have for days.

Forced down quite a bit:
Porridge with raspberries & honey
Cup a soup
Banana
2 chocolate biscuits
Slice of toast with honey
Small box of Smarties
Cheese toastie and chips
A pear
Yoghurt

Some dark chocolate for later

onlyhereforthefood · 01/11/2019 19:35

Feeling a bit better today, managed more food at least!

B- protein porridge pot
S- satsuma
L- costa ham and cheese toastie
S- pop chips
D- 1/2 bbq chicken and bacon stonebaked pizza (Iceland) and big salad
S- probably a g&t and some left over halloween sweets

Not exactly healthy but I drop weight easily and just need quick calories!

sassafras123 · 01/11/2019 19:37

coffee/ water/ crackers and cheese
veg soup and homemade bread
chilli con carne
wine red and plentiful !

Bloodybridget · 01/11/2019 21:16

Last night's supper was two mouthfuls of minestrone, and a small bowl of porridge.
Today, B: Warburton's thin bagel, toasted with butter, black coffee.
Mid-morning: two bites of a croissant, two swigs of tea.
L: Gregg's sausage roll, coffee with milk, bit of bread and butter
Supper: roast chicken thighs, roast potatoes and carrots, cabbage. A proper meal!

PrivateSpidey · 01/11/2019 22:28

Hope you enjoyed the dinner Bridget - sounds good.

B - Weetabix with warm milk and brown sugar, some raspberries
L - cheese and oatcakes (again), pear, packet of twiglets
D - macaroni cheese with cauliflower; roast butternut squash and sweet potato with thyme; garlic bread. Halloween sweets for pudding. (That's when I discovered the Heroes version of a Crunchie is a total swizz - it's just chocolate with a few paltry specks of honeycomb in it - Halloween Shock unacceptable!!)

Phycadelicsilhouette · 02/11/2019 09:21

@onlyhereforthefood glad to see that you’re feeling a bit better, I find that eating well helps when I’m feeling low although I’m not very good at taking my own advice! I either lose my appetite or eat rubbish!

@Bloodybridget yay to a proper meal! I hope that it’s the beginning of getting your taste back again! I love a bakery sausage roll too!

Thank you @AwkwardSquad, the bonfire and firework display was fantastic, such a long firework display, it must have lasted around 20 minutes!

@PrivateSpidey I love the crunchie in the heroes! It’s like the dairy milk crunchie bar!

@Nuttyaboutnutella I hope you continue to feel better today!

Yesterday I ate...

Breakfast - 2 x warm croissants with butter and jam, and a coffee.

Lunch - my favourite warburtons malted bread toasted x 2 with mashed avocado, lime juice, chopped chilli, salt and pepper, and an apple.

Dinner - got food at the event so instead of planned hotdog and nachos had a cheeseburger and chips. Shared a hot chocolate with DS2 as it was massive!

Snacks - Picked at a few sweets here and there and had a couple of mini Cadbury caramel cookies.

AwkwardSquad · 02/11/2019 18:51

B - muesli, grated apple, flaxseed, yoghurt, sprinkle of cinnamon and drizzle of maple syrup
L - the leftovers from yesterday’s Indian takeaway
D - wholewheat penne with tuna and tomato sauce, handful of salad leaves
Contemplating an oat molasses cookie

OP posts:
onlyhereforthefood · 02/11/2019 18:51

L- chicken and multigrain soup and 2 ryvita
S- pop chips, satsuma
D- chow mein ready meal- was meant to be going to fireworks so wanted quick meal but cancelled
S- going to have 2 crumpets with crunchy pb and banana

Ellabella989 · 02/11/2019 19:20

B - 1 hot cross bun with butter,
Fruit salad of pineapple, kiwi, mango and watermelon.

L - chicken and lentil salad thing from co-op

D - chicken Kiev, potato wedges and broccoli

Snacks - muller fruit corner, kitkat and 1 bounty cookie

PrivateSpidey · 02/11/2019 21:15

Ah Phycadelicsilhouette I had no idea about the Crunchie Heroes!! You should come round to ours, we've loads left!

B - pannetonne toasted with butter, cappuccino (cafe breakfast)
L - French onion soup with sliced baguette and cheese toasted on top, pear
D - pumpkin ravioli, tomato and basil sauce, rocket salad, olives
S - made some toffee apples so had one of those. Was nice but I feel for my poor teeth now (had to brush them straight afterwards!!)

MissLadyM · 02/11/2019 21:17

Fuck Spidey, that all sounds fantastic x

Phycadelicsilhouette · 02/11/2019 21:37

@PrivateSpidey I think they’ve only started them this year! I only know as I bought a few of the round tubs of “Christmas chocolates” for my DC and friends visiting with DC over Christmas while they were on offer for £3 but we opened a pot on a movie evening Blush I can honestly say though that all other Christmas treats I’ve bought are safely packed away in the store cupboard! A pot full of those sounds amazing though, when’s best for you? Grin
Also I have to say, panettone toast sounds absolutely amazing! I’ve never eaten it that way, I will remember this for Christmas time!

Today I’ve eaten....

Breakfast - Greek yogurt with raspberries, a generous sprinkling of granola and a drizzle of honey with a slice of hot cross bun loaf toasted and buttered.

Lunch - 2 mini part bake rolls into hotdogs with onions, ketchup and mustard (didn’t have them last night and DC so wanted hotdogs and they deserved them after doing an impromptu beach clean in the windy rain!) and a choconchoc chocolate eyeball.

Dinner - a cup of coffee and a snickers Blush just not hungry at tea time so just cooked for everyone else. Got peckish this evening Hence the snickers....

Snacks... SO MUCH COFFEE! Blush

Nuttyaboutnutella · 03/11/2019 10:22

Yesterday--

B: eggs on toast, loads of tea, orange juice
L: leek and potato soup, an apple, plum yoghurt
Banana, biscuit I made for toddler
D: Indian takeaway from new place that's opened as a belated birthday celebration for DP. I had paneer sashlick balti, garlic naan and pilau rice. It was lovely. Also had a Gu hot brownie pudding thing with ice cream.

AwkwardSquad · 03/11/2019 11:01

I googled the paneer dish, it sounds amazing. I’ll see if the local one does that, for next time!

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 03/11/2019 16:07

MissLadyM I think it sounds better written down! It was nice though.

Today I've had:
B - oat crisp, plum, some raspberries
L - two pieces of toast with peanut butter, an apple, some gingerbread (last slice - I've been the only one eating it - not complaining Smile)

D - is just cooking now - beef stew cooked on the hob with leeks, carrots and potatoes. Got some tiger bread to go with it, and have made a pudding - stole the idea from a thread on here. It's just some lots of lemon curd spread on the bottom of a baking dish with a sponge cake mixture on top. Have got some custard to go with that. And red wine as well.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 03/11/2019 16:13

Ahh stew! I’ve yet to make our first winter stew!

Today I’ve eaten...

Breakfast - A slice of hot cross bun loaf toasted and buttered and coffee.

Lunch - A hash of mini roast potato bits with salt, pepper and garlic, sliced onions, broken up salmon fillet and crispy bacon pieces with a runny yolk egg on top.

Dinner - will be... not sure if I’ll be hungry. Might just have a slice of toast with fried tomatoes on top, either that or make up a fruit salad.

BarbedBloom · 03/11/2019 18:00

@Nuttyaboutnutella Sorry, fell off the earth for a few days there. I live in South Wales.

This thread is making me hungry!

B: Green smoothie

D: Shepherds pie topped with cauliflower mash, broccoli and green beans.

I am trying not to eat chocolate at the moment but I caved today and had a wispa. Worth it! I have the M&S Christmas food catalogue at the moment and am drooling.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 03/11/2019 18:22

Changed my mind about the tomatoes on toast and had some of what I cooked for everyone else... moussaka.

AwkwardSquad · 03/11/2019 18:38

Today has been a day of cake.

B - muesli, flaxseed, stewed apple, yoghurt
Slice of homemade apple molasses cake (well, had to make sure it had come out ok)
L - lentil koftas in tomato sauce with tomato salad and pitta
Half a chocolate brownie (half was still a decent portion)
D - poached salmon, giant couscous with sautéed onions, olives, preserved peppers, and salad
Another slice of apple cake

OP posts:
onlyhereforthefood · 03/11/2019 20:00

B- porridge with cinnamon and some pear puree
L- spaghetti hoops and toast
S- pop chips
