Shiny new thread, continuing from here

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip they do blood tests before each chemo treatment to check levels of white blood cells, haemoglobin, platelets and neutrophils; chemo makes them all lower so they all have to be at a certain level for treatment to go ahead. Neutrophils are WBCs that will fight any infection, and three times out of six mine have been too low so chemo has been delayed. Hopefully the WBC-production boosting injections I've been doing will get them up to scratch by Tuesday!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 28/10/2019 05:01

Oh I see - god so much to consider. Here’s hoping for Tuesday for you

IJumped yay for being able to eat solid food again! Hope you're recovering well. I love chana masala, haven't had it for so long!

AwkwardSquad sorry, missed your question. Yes, it is Seed & Bean Smile MIL bought us some last year (sea salt & lime) I was very skeptical about trying it but it was sublime. Finally got around to ordering loads to try. Opened the lemon and cardamom, also lovely!

So much crap due to a delayed flight meaning I couldn’t get any food ready

two hash browns
Some chips and beans from work canteen Blush
Two slices of toast and some crisps Blush
Veggie fried rice (home made)

Bloodybridget · 28/10/2019 21:36

Thanks so much for the good wishes, folks! Much appreciated.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 28/10/2019 21:36

@Bloodybridget also hoping that your bloods are ok for chemo tomorrow, your multiple breakfasts sound like a dream!

Today I have eaten.... terribly Blush

Breakfast - 2 x marmite on toast with coffee

Lunch - a Big Mac burger from Macdonalds with a medium fries and a cappuccino... followed by a maltesers McFlurry Blush

Afternoon snack - a ‘no turkey feast’ sandwich Blush

Dinner - 2 slices of pepperoni pizza, a couple of mozerella sticks, some bats and ghosts crisps (a bit like the baked walkers stars), a fairy cake, some chocolate eyeballs and pumpkins (like foil wrapped chocolate footballs but Halloween version) and some fruit pastels. With a pint of fresh orange.

Would not have usually gone for a macdonalds for lunch but we took our cat in for neutering today (the 1st of 4, mum and 3 kittens, over the next couple of months!) and we had time to kill so went shopping (browsing really, didn’t really need anything) and then for lunch.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 28/10/2019 21:41

Thank you @onlyhereforthefood, not sure that I can actually use the pumpkin we have now though. We’ve very kindly been given a pumpkin from DS2’s school friends family allotment but it’s absolutley huge! (Must weigh at least 20lbs!) and I’ve been told it’s not really great for eating. Looked online and it says that it will be very coarse and not very flavourful but it seems such a shame to waste so much pumpkin!

Bloodybridget · 28/10/2019 22:16

Phycadelic no diet that includes Marmite can be terrible! Re pumpkin, do you have a compost bin?

Toughmonkeys · 29/10/2019 15:06

I love these threads but not sure I've ever commented.
Breakfast - coffee with hazelnut milk
Snack - 2 mini bananas
Lunch - 2 fried eggs on a slice of toast
Snack - 2 nice biscuits and a packet of prawn cocktail crisps
Dinner - Spanish style fish stew and crusty bread
Water to drink
Not my best day but I've been moving bedroom furniture myself between the bedrooms and I hit the snacks

BarbedBloom · 29/10/2019 15:51

I'm new, hello all. Smile

Yesterday

Breakfast: 2 spoonfuls of full fat greek yoghurt and spoonful of berries

Dinner: Cream cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon, mashed cauliflower and broccoli.

Snack: pack of pork scratchings

Today

Breakfast: same as yesterday

Lunch: Avocado, spinach and chicken salad

Dinner: Cauliflower tikka masala. Wilted garlic spinach side.

Snack: handful of nuts. Boiled egg.

Need to remember to eat lunch as I had to miss a dose of medication yesterday as can't be taken on empty stomach (have rheumatoid arthritis).

Toughmonkeys · 29/10/2019 16:28

Barbedbloom I have the opposite issue. I have to take my medication on an empty stomach but can't take it first thing. I always forget and just take it but then I feel really sick for a few hours.

Phycadelicsilhouette · 29/10/2019 18:33

@Bloodybridget I hope today has gone well! Flowers And yes I do have a compost bin, I expect that’ll be where it ends up!

Hello @BarbedBloom Smile your mashed cauliflower and broccoli sounds nice! What’s the texture like? And do you add butter ect?

Today I’ve had

Breakfast - 2 x marmite on seeded toast and Greek yogurt with a chopped banana, a little granola and a drizzle of honey... and coffee.

Lunch - a sliced apple and a wedge of cheese.

Dinner - cottage pie and cabbage.

Snacks - a wispa gold and a banana.

Dowser · 29/10/2019 18:50

Just recovering from a nasty bout of diahorrea ( for some reason I don’t get sick)

So after no food yesterday I just had muesli in the afternoon, a ginger biscuit a bit later and then salmon rice and peas

BarbedBloom · 29/10/2019 18:52

@Toughmonkeys That's not so good. I take six tablets a day and can only take 2 at a time, so have to spread them across three meals. I never used to eat breakfast as I leave too early, so am struggling a bit. Can you take yours before bed so you sleep through nausea?

@Phycadelicsihouette Thanks! Yes, I treat it like I would mashed potato, so butter and a bit of milk, well oat milk in my case. Am trying a low carb diet at the moment as it can help with inflammation. It doesn't have the same texture as mash, but I like it. I love apple and cheese, good choice.

Ellabella989 · 29/10/2019 18:53

Nothing yet because I’ve been running around like a headless chicken today. I’ve consumed litres of coffee though. We’ve got a Gousto Wagamama meal this evening which I’m so looking forward to.

Need to start making time for lunch.

On the heartbreak diet. Feeling sick majority of the time.

This morning had a few spoons of Greek yoghurt to take some medication.

Three coffees.
Lots of water.
Two green teas.

Currently looking at a Babybel Light wondering if it's worth it.

Oh yesterday I had a dry Ryvita and some Cashews.

commanderdalgliesh · 29/10/2019 20:18

A slim fast bar
A pack of fruit pastilles
A cold sausage

First week back at work after mat leave, children and partner have continuous lurgies, v stressed and have to take baby to bed as soon as I walk in the door - hence dinner being a cold sausage.

Hoping next week will be better.
