Shiny new thread, continuing from here

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

2 mugs of tea.

Lunch in a Tapas restaurant with a friend - we had green olives, tomato and garlic toasted bread, broccoli with blue cheese and walnuts, grilled chicken thighs that had been marinaded in sherry and garlic, and some tiny green roasted peppers. A glass of dry sherry and a coffee.

Dinner was grilled rump steak (absolutely delicious - from Lidl - can highly recommend) sweet potato fries, cherry tomatoes and green salad with beetroot.

I have a new found love for this thread - living vicariously through all your food. It’s 3pm where I am and I’ve had a lot of water and drugs, a banana, a coffee and a green tea

I read that you increase your chances of dry socket after gum surgery if you eat soup Sad but I’ve got some mash in the freezer so mashed potato and tons of vegan butter and vegan cheese for dinner I reckon!

joystir59 · 17/10/2019 22:50

notice the number of people eating pears -our tree has gone nuts (unintentional pun!) this year as has the apple tree

AwkwardSquad · 19/10/2019 10:40

We have three apple trees, but the one that has produced the most this year is sadly the one with least flavour! They are all in desperate need of pruning; I wonder if that makes a difference, or if it’s all down to the variety.

B - muesli, flaxseed, stewed apple, yoghurt
L - jackfruit wrap from vegan food stall. It was stewed in tasty rich sauce, with salad and garlic mayo in the wrap. Delicious. First time I’ve had jackfruit and I’m a convert but it may be specific to the cooking skills of this particular stall holder!
Bag of vegan matcha mini meringues, two squares plain chocolate
D - small bowl smoked haddock soup, roll, butter; melon

I think I managed over 500calories today - was starting to feel very ill from lack of food and too many pain killers so pulled my big girl pants up, stopped the narcotics and switched to ibruprofen only and ate:
B: 1/2 serving lentil soup
L: 1/2 serving vegan chilli (watered down to soup)
D: 1/2 serving vegan chilli (still watered down!)
S: dark chocolate coconut ice cream, boosted the calories up after 3 consecutive days if I think about 150kcal a day. Jesus that was miserable - I think it’s still a week of soup ahead though

Bloodybridget · 20/10/2019 06:24

IJumped I hope you weren't awake so early because you were in a lot of pain? It must be so hard trying to get enough calories on a liquid diet. Flowers

AwkwardSquad · 20/10/2019 07:07

Ijumped Flowers

Trying to think of higher calorie foods you can purée or mash... what about mashed avocado? And could you add coconut cream to the soup?

Nuttyaboutnutella · 20/10/2019 07:27

Yesterday~
B: Weetabix with blueberries, toast with blackcurrant jam
L: bagel with turkey and cranberry sauce, an apple, and some plum yoghurt (I've completely gone off flavoured yoghurt but this is delicious!!)
D: steak, homemade chips and salad

Little bit of dark chocolate with raspberries and few glasses of red wine in the evening

onlyhereforthefood · 20/10/2019 09:10

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip have you been offered oral nutritional supplements short term? Or can you buy some complan? You get about 300kcal per drink and they are pretty much complete nutrition x

Phycadelicsilhouette · 20/10/2019 10:15

Not been on for a while as I was feeling very low but back on my feet again now (so to speak) so will go back through the last week or so and catch up on all the delicious food!

I’ll just go back to yesterday as I can’t remember what I’ve eaten all week!

Breakfast - coffee

Lunch - bakery sausage roll, ready salted walkers and fresh orange juice.

Snack/treat - spent most of the day with friends who had travelled over for the day and took them to one of my favourite food stops for a treat and my choice was a slice of honeycomb pie and a coffee.

Dinner - homemade lasagne, garlic bread tear and share, chips and a tomatoe, red onion and coriander salad (should have added feta!)

Dessert was going to be caramelised orange and chocolate cake with daim bar ice cream but after the honeycomb pie my friend and me skipped this one and our DC tucked in!

Through the day I’d snacked on a mini curly wurly, a little chocolate/popping candy rice treat thing and a mini crunchie (got the sweet jar out while we were all playing board games!)

Not a very healthy day yesterday... maybe today will be slightly better but we are at a friends house today for a roast dinner and I’m taking dessert (which isn’t very healthy! Blush)
