Best gig you’ve ever been 2?

Having just got my hands on Green Day tickets for next June....

I was wondering what’s the best gig you’ve ever been too??

So far for me, i’d have to say Foo Fighters...with Liam Gallagher a very, very close second!

Foo fighters at Concorde 2. Tiny gig, epic experience

BringTheBounceBack · 18/09/2019 23:12

Gaga. Just all of them tbh, they’ve all been quite an experience! Artrave was a riot and 20 of us had our own bar round her piano.

TigerDroveAgain · 18/09/2019 23:13

1981 : get it RIGHT Tiger 🙄

BoswellsBollocks · 18/09/2019 23:16

Slayer at Nottingham Rock City in 2000 🤘🏻

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 18/09/2019 23:18

Green Day at the Milton Keynes bowl in 2005. Epic.

skankingpiglet · 18/09/2019 23:32

I have a few top gigs, but they are top for different reasons.
Primal Fear around 2002. Just incredible stage presence and performance.
Dragon Force just after their first album came out at Camden Underworld. They were amazing (so fast!) but had to sheepishly come back on stage and apologise they couldn't do an encore as they had no more songs 😂
Underworld 2008/9 (I think?) at Brixton Academy. Some of their tracks still make the hair on the back of my neck stick up after hearing them at that gig.
NOFX maybe 10yrs ago. Memorable as it was DH's first punk gig. They were great, and it was a perfect introduction for DH who had a blast (it had taken years to convince him to go to one).

I have eclectic tastes

SpornStar · 18/09/2019 23:43

Nirvana (Belfast 1992) - Not the best in terms of performance but in terms of most iconic band I’ve seen live.

Best gig ever was Bob Mould (of Husker Du) at the 9.30 club in Washington DC (2014)

Rage Against the Machine and Red Hot Chilli Peppers we’re both epic in a small venue back in the day (early/mid 90s). Much better than later stadium shows.

Green Day was my best!

ThatCurlyGirl · 18/09/2019 23:54

Not technically a gig but I was beside myself with excitement at a Smash Hits Poll Winners Party. It was like the 90s threw up on the stage and I loved every minute of it Smile

stucknoue · 19/09/2019 00:08

Best ever is hard, arena concerts are different from festivals and small gigs are different again. Maybe The Killers, maybe Blur, maybe The Cure ... can't pick

U2HasTheEdge · 19/09/2019 00:16

U2- I loved them all, I can't pick a favourite tour.

REM at Hyde park was amazing.

I loved Athlete when they were supporting U2.

Got to admit Barry Manilow was pretty good at The Proms and I don't particularly like him usually.. could have been the wine though. It must have been the wine.

U2HasTheEdge · 19/09/2019 00:17

Oh I can't believe I forgot Billy Ocean! He was headlining at Let's Rock, he was fantastic.

SingingSands · 19/09/2019 00:32

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot in Hull a couple of years ago. Brilliant night.

SoulToSqueeze · 19/09/2019 00:53

I don't know how I managed to forget about Twenty One Pilots! Saw them at the beginning of the year and they were absolutely brilliant!

BeetrootBasil · 19/09/2019 01:44

Love this thread. So many...

Fatboy Slim on Brighton Beach, the original one (2000?)
Metallica at Glasto recently -unexpectedly moving
Crystal Castles - essentially just noise but in a very good way

BeetrootBasil · 19/09/2019 01:49

Every episode of TOTP. Used to rate them with my brother and give thumbs up, down or a handwobble with according teenage noise. We'd always look at each other first to see what the other was going to do.

SapphireSeptember · 19/09/2019 02:09

Evanescence at the Royal Festival Hall last March. Seeing them play with a full orchestra was magical. I'd seen them twice before at traditional gigs and they were amazing both times but this was something extra special! ❤🖤

PatricianOfAnkhMorpork · 19/09/2019 08:32

@onemouseplace I was also going to say Pet Shop Boys warm up last Friday. Was amazing but far too short!

Kaiser Chiefs in Trafalgar Square in 2017. Was unexpected and brilliant.

x2boys · 19/09/2019 08:38

A few but the best by a mile was the Heineken festival in Roundhey park in Leeds in 1995 it was Thursday to Sunday lots of bands Pulp headlined n the Saturday night ,we saw Chumbawamba, Pop will eat itself ,Menswear and lot,s of others I can't remember best of all it was FREE!

Justkeeprollingalong · 19/09/2019 08:52

The Eagles. Twice. Amazing!

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 19/09/2019 11:12

Pink Floyd at Wembley was my best.

DoctorTwo · 19/09/2019 14:15

Living Colour, Wolverhampton Civic Hall, 1991. Also the loudest (I still have the tinnitus to prove it)

@BeetrootBasil I was at Big Beach Boutique too, and yes, it was a phenomenal night.

Greenglassteacup · 19/09/2019 14:21

2boys I was at that festival too!

MadisonAvenue · 19/09/2019 14:26

Green Day playing a Reading and Leeds warm up show at Brixton Academy in 2013, the set list was brilliant and they played Dookie in full too. Frank Turner supported them so I saw both of my favourites in one night.

I’ve got tickets to see them in June, can’t wait.

dontknowwasmadetoknow · 19/09/2019 14:32

Michela Jackson at Wembley in about 1992
Amazing.
