Having just got my hands on Green Day tickets for next June....

I was wondering what’s the best gig you’ve ever been too??

So far for me, i’d have to say Foo Fighters...with Liam Gallagher a very, very close second!

I saw foo fighters for the third time recently and was actually disappointed with them compared to previous shows..

Coldplay on the a head full of dreams tour were the best for the entertainment factor.

Another vote for the foos here! Saw them in Glasgow last month (they opened with Stacked Actors!!!), London last year and back in 2008(ish) when they toured with queens of the stone age AND red hot chilli peppers - that was a bloody good day out!

eggofmantumbi · 18/09/2019 21:04

Mando Diao in London. Just incredible

Yorkshiremum17 · 18/09/2019 21:15

Billy Idol - Manchester Apollo

Brothers Osborne - Nottingham Rock city

I went to see the Courteeners at old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester a week after the Ariana Grande bombing, it was such an emotional concert, definitely my favourite.
I’ve also seen Prodigy, Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys all bloody brilliant.
Least favourite was guns and roses at Reading festival they were rubbish.

Leftielefterson · 18/09/2019 21:21

So many to recall but a few really memorable ones:

Alanis Morissette (I was 8 months pregnant and very emotional. I was annoyed at my bf so dedicated a lot of the songs to him that night)
The Cure
Foo Fighters
The 1975
Honne
Kygo
Einaudi - I’ve been a few times but this years was the best.
MSMR

I love going to see a band/performance - it’s such an uplifting experience.

kshaw · 18/09/2019 21:22

Arctic monkeys poolside over looking the strip in Vegas. Was ridiculously cheap tickets as they were the support act. One of best nights ever had!

ComeOnGordon · 18/09/2019 21:24

INXS in the early 90’s - they were amazing live

mamaduckbone · 18/09/2019 21:29

Too many to mention!
Guns n Roses at Wembley stadium when I was 16 - first ever big concert.

Manic Street Preachers at Leicester Students Union in the very early days (with Richie)

The Killers - first gig with my ds who was totally in awe.

Walnutwhipster · 18/09/2019 21:38

Roger Waters
The original Liveaid.

Best small venue gig: Twin Atlantic at Leeds Brudenell, 2015. Best academy size gig: Jimmy Eat World, Manchester 2001. Best arena gig: either The 1975 or Twenty One Pilots, 2019. Best stadium show: Foo Fighters, Wembley, undoubtedly.

tobermoryisthebestwomble · 18/09/2019 21:43

Also got tickets for Green Day Hella Mega tour. I've seen FOB a few times but it will be my first time seeing GD and Weezer

WeCameToDance · 18/09/2019 21:45

Green Day are amazing live. They play for hours as well so you really get your money's worth. I would go in a heartbeat if it wasn't in London. I hate travelling to London, the thought of it alone makes me feel exhausted!
I agree with Frank Turner. I've got tickets to see him in November and I can't wait! I love his new album.
My Chemical Romance were one of the worst live bands I've ever seen. Absolutely no showmanship and Gerard Way could not sing a single note in tune. It was just before they split up though so I suspect they had all given up.

onemouseplace · 18/09/2019 21:45

Best small gig - Pet Shop Boys warm up gig for Hyde Park last Friday - 500 Uber fans in a small venue - just magical.

Best gig ever - Faithless playing the sunset set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2002 - a defining moment in my life.

eatsleepmoverepeat · 18/09/2019 21:50

Foo Fighters
AC/DC

HeronLanyon · 18/09/2019 21:50

This is hard. Second row central 02 Lenny Cohen 2004/5 (can’t remember year).
Patti Smith roundhouse this year.
Liza Minnelli few years ago Southbank - pure unadulterated star quality.
Ella Fitzgerald/Oscar Peterson and count Basie 82 Southbank.

Just one - it would be Ella - pure talent. Spoke to her afterwards.

RoRosmama · 18/09/2019 21:51

KISS, they were insane! Best rock concert of all time, never seen anyone put on a show like them.

Corneliusmurphy · 18/09/2019 21:54

Got my Green Day tickets today too! Can’t wait have been humming wheezer songs all day... I will be trying to get tickets for The Who on Friday too.

Best concert has got to be green day in Brixton a few years back, about as small a gig as I’m likely to get with them!

AragonsGirl · 18/09/2019 22:15

Billy Joel about 12 years ago...amazing!
Elton John has been phenomenal every time I’ve seen him, but outdoors at Pitodrie stadium in Aberdeen was the best.

Lessstressedhemum · 18/09/2019 22:51

Kiss and Meatloaf both late 80s. Absolutely incredible.

Best small, intimate gig was Fish at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh at New Year in 1990. It was the start of his solo career. It was very moving, actually and very, very different from the many times that I had seen marillion.

novasglowx · 18/09/2019 22:55

Rammstein hands down, absolutely blew me away.

SpottedOnMN · 18/09/2019 23:00

Another vote for Frank Turner at Rock City. We had passes for the after party too, was a brilliant night.

SleepyFlump · 18/09/2019 23:03

Live 8 at Hyde Park - pretty much everybody was there! Phenomenal day!

TigerDroveAgain · 18/09/2019 23:10

Bruce Springsteen NEC 1980. The River. Changed my life

Boohooyouho · 18/09/2019 23:10

Ben Folds Five at the royal Albert hall. They plaid with a full orchestra and it was amazing.
