A thousand strawberry lollies and the Princess of Liechtenstein - any Cabin Pressure fans around?

I’ve just been binging on Cabin pressure and then I saw this news story - an off duty EasyJet pilot was going on holiday but they were delayed as waiting for a relief crew. He had his licence and was within hours so offered to fly the plane and they accepted. It made me think of Martin’s interview with Swiss Air when he said he never went anywhere without his pilot’s licence!! I think I might need a life Blush

I’d love it to come back!

Thanks for that Bugger. Dd and I got one wrong Blush

MrsDimmond · 12/09/2019 20:33

Just watched it and now feel like a genius 🤣
(But the questions didn't require "learning the manual" did they ...)

HerculesTheBercules · 12/09/2019 20:49

I forgot Stephanie Cole’s name - the shame!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/09/2019 20:52

Caroline - what’s her sisters name?

HerculesTheBercules · 12/09/2019 20:54

What job does Martin’s brother do?

MrsDimmond · 12/09/2019 20:55

Is it town planner? Certainly local council job

HerculesTheBercules · 12/09/2019 20:57

Yep - not “something big in the government”.

What does Arthur try, but fail, to buy in the airport?

MrsDimmond · 12/09/2019 21:00

I thought the question that started with something about every episode and Bendict Cumberpatch, was going to ask which episode he didnt star in or which other actor played Martin Crief....Asking what was the final 2 part episode was as insulting as asking who wrote it!

MrsDimmond · 12/09/2019 21:01

Ooh I I've spelt it wrong, he's batch not patch isn't he?

MrsDimmond · 12/09/2019 21:02

Benedict Cumberbatch

HerculesTheBercules · 12/09/2019 21:08

Those were not specialist subject level questions.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 12/09/2019 21:11

We love this - all obsessed but especially DS2 who is 10. I think that the moment when Martin says 'Allo' in a very small voice after being introduced as Martin Du Crieff is potentially the funniest thing ever.

Also obsessed with Souvenir Programme. DS 2 taught his whole class the words to Captain Dinosaur when doing a presentation a couple of years ago!

AlunWynsKnee · 12/09/2019 22:35

Herc is it candles?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 13/09/2019 07:20

What does Arthur try, but fail, to buy in the airport?

Well, at one stage, he's stressed because there aren't any Toblerones:

I mean, OK, sometimes they don’t have the white ones or the black ones, but not even to have the normal ones!

CmdrCressidaDuck · 13/09/2019 07:24

Toblerones, but he has to leave the airport in Timbuktu to get a book about bears.

wonkylegs · 13/09/2019 08:18

@DominicCummingsGilet I heard that story and thought the exact same thing!
We love Cabin pressure.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 13/09/2019 08:52

Today is my birthday. I have been given the full set of cds!

Huzzah, going away for the weekend so lots of happy listening

DominicCummingsGilet · 13/09/2019 09:34

Happy birthday!

I’m relieved to hear I’m not the only one who thought of Martin when seeing the news story Grin

Toblerones!

TakeMeToYourLiar · 13/09/2019 10:13

Thank you :)

Tempted to start listening now, but I'd better wait for DH

CmdrCressidaDuck · 13/09/2019 10:30

I think I may have to buy the CDs, I feel the urgent need to start listening at Abu Dhabi again and work all the way through.

MrsDimmond · 13/09/2019 11:09

We have them all (and all JF souvenir programmes) on audible and listen ad infinitum. They just get better the more you hear them!
And despite the number of times I've listened, I still get surprised by how many different elements there are each to episode.
To quote Arthur they are simply brilliant!

TakeMeToYourLiar · 13/09/2019 11:32

Question:

Should I listen to them in alphabetical or broadcast order?

Fiderer · 13/09/2019 11:45

They're all fairly stand alone episodes so switching one for the next doesn't really make much difference, jumping far forward would though imo re characters and plots.

For some reason on my Audible Helsinki came before Gdansk. I like the alphabetical theme though.

Not sure that's a v helpful answer as don't know about broadcast dates!

CmdrCressidaDuck · 13/09/2019 12:09

The minor alterations in the broadcast order don't really matter - they were written to be listened to in alphabetical order more or less but the episodes do stand alone. Things, especially the relationships, change from season to season but unless you're jumping straight from S1 to S3 or 4 that shouldn't really matter.
