A thousand strawberry lollies and the Princess of Liechtenstein - any Cabin Pressure fans around?

I’ve just been binging on Cabin pressure and then I saw this news story - an off duty EasyJet pilot was going on holiday but they were delayed as waiting for a relief crew. He had his licence and was within hours so offered to fly the plane and they accepted. It made me think of Martin’s interview with Swiss Air when he said he never went anywhere without his pilot’s licence!! I think I might need a life Blush

I’d love it to come back!

I can’t help myself every time we go on holiday as soon as we get inside the airport. ‘This is the airport speaking’

I also love listening to it if I’m flying. It gives it a whole new dimension!!!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/09/2019 07:59

It was on iPlayer but not now. I used to listen to it on my walk to evening classes. I must buy it somewhere - where can I get it? That and Old Harry’s Game (Joan is Arc!!).

stucknoue · 10/09/2019 07:59

Me! Love it. Listening to it on planes is particularly fun (2 transatlantic flights equals every episode!)

stucknoue · 10/09/2019 08:03

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD
Audible has all the episodes

Yes leapyear I loved Eddie! ‘You’re flying from Birmingham to Newcastle in broad daylight, which way round the globe are you planning on going?’

I LOVE Cabin Pressure, I've been relistening to the whole lot recently. My favourite episode is Qikiqtarjuaq - Martin du Creffe can bring me to tears of laughter. For some reason my DH is reluctant to listen to it - I think he doesn't get the concept of radio comedies. We are flying to Turkey this weekend so I think I may force him...

Fiderer · 10/09/2019 10:26

Agree listening on flights (Audible) is even more fun. Last time I flew I had cheese and crackers on board. Announced excitedly to my son that I had "the squidgy one in the foil packet". He asked where were the otters?

Also love Eddie and his round the globe & The Widowmaker.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 10/09/2019 12:31

I keep meaning to also dig up the supercut of Benedict saying "this has been a Pozzitive Production for the BBC!" because over time, it gets faster and faster and faster Grin

In our house, it is also always pronounced "DWAGON FWUUUUUUIT". And any correction offered to the other is introduced with "Hey, Chief..."

ImportantWater · 10/09/2019 13:42

If I ever bumped into Benedict Cumberbatch with the kids (likely) they wouldn't be that excited about meeting Sherlock or Dr Strange, but they would be about meeting Martin Crieff!

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2019 14:39

I went to a recording once

XXcstatic · 10/09/2019 15:55

I went to a recording once

So jealous! Which episode was it?

Bigfatpicnic · 10/09/2019 16:29

@ImportantWater-I listened to Dwagon Fwuit today on my way home! 😂

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2019 16:36

XXcstatic, I knew someone would ask that. Been desperately trying to remember Blush Grin

It was a double recording. I think it might have been Qikiqtarjuaq and Ottery St Mary… would probably recognise them by their plot summaries.

XXcstatic · 10/09/2019 16:59

would probably recognise them by their plot summaries

polar bears and otters?

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2019 17:30

Maybe?

Sorry. It was a while ago and I'm old and easily befuddled. I do seem to remember an audience participation bit over the pronunciation of Qikiqtarjuaq though; and have a dim memory of the words Ottery St Mary.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/09/2019 17:57

Can't nominate a favourite episode. Something to love in all of them. Ipswich is wonderful, though.

BringMoreCoffee · 10/09/2019 18:05

Nikita I think Ottery St Mary's the one where they're taking the piano in the van. The keys get lost. Jelly babies set to manual. Yellow car. Those magnificent men in their flying machines. A classic.

Arthur's "oh, Douglas!" at the end is pure perfection.

stucknoue · 10/09/2019 18:08

Thanks to this thread I sat through work chuckling!

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2019 18:09

BringMoreCoffee, God, how had I forgotten that?! The cast did a rousing rendition of that song but the audience insisted on clapping 'along' out of time, so they had to do it again Grin

BringMoreCoffee · 10/09/2019 18:10

A fine choice Nikita, I'm very jealous!

BurningTheToast · 10/09/2019 18:47

And on the marvellous JF's site, I found this:

Have a look on You Tube for “Mastermind - Cabin Pressure”.

DH and I got 100% naturally 😊

HerculesTheBercules · 12/09/2019 19:44

Ooh must try that.
