So, having started a new job last month, I have to go to the regional offices next week, for a two day induction.
Apparently I have to "bring along a personal item that is important to me, to share with the group" REALLY?
What should I take? Bottle of gin? Tena Lady? My knitting? Will I have to do a "presentation" type thing do you think?

I had one of those. I took my pet African land snail and prepared a talk on his sexual habits and food preferences. The Manager was speechless. We never had another one because I'd exceeded the bar and he was afraid what could pop up next.

Out of 14 people in the group, three had teddy bears, six had pictures of loved ones, two had pictures of pets, one had the medallion on the thick gold chain around his swan like neck, I had my tattoo wedding ring, and the absolute star of the show looked them straight in the eye and said they didn't want to bring anything.
At which point everyone else sort of looked at each other as if to say "why weren't we that brave?"
Later on we did a Jenga activity and played with half the contents of the early learning centre...

I once asked DS what he wanted to take to show and tell that week and he said "My sister". She declined with regret (there is a 6 year age gap between them)

I suppose you could take your DH or the children or a sibling if you have one :)
