5-10 minutes. Enough time to make a coffee. It used to be around 1 minute! But now the children are a little older I can leave them in the school playground in the mornings rather than having to wait for their classroom doors to open and watch them go in.

I officially start at 9. I get there about 08.15. I start working. In the school holidays when I do not do the school run I get there abut 8. I work through lunch. I leave at 5.10. The work requires it. My boss does not give a fuck. There is a culture of presenteeism. It is not healthy.

I'm a teacher. Children start arriving at 8.50 but I'm at work by 7.30-7.45am. I leave at 5pm

batvixen123 · 05/09/2019 20:03

Flexitime, so I get there, clock in at the front door, and that's when my day starts.

I cycle but we have office wear 4d/wk. So I may have to change, put away my bag, swap shoes for sure, hang up jacket. The temperature in office may mean putting on a jacket & gloves. And I don't eat breakfast until I'm at my desk so there's organising that to do.

Then get our bags out of lockers & set up hot desk (lots to arrange & plug in).

I guess there's typically about 5 minutes of personal faff,
followed by 5 minutes to set up the laptop at hotdesk.

Reverse at end of day.

Samosaurus · 05/09/2019 20:11

I count my working day as starting as soon as I get to my desk!

BearSoFair · 05/09/2019 20:11

5-10 minutes. Get the till system started, bring the papers in, put my bag away then downstairs to open up.

Work start to wonder where I am if im 20mins late but I can turn up when I like provided I let them know what Im doing.

Yesterday I arrived 5 mins late and left after 4 hours overtime (gone 9pm). Today I arrived an hour early at 8am but left at 4.30 for the school run. 45mins early. Tomorrow Im on a 7am train not home until 7pm... swings and roundabouts really.

I know it can seem a bit mean, but I am not a volunteer.

This. I work my 40 hours.

OhioOhioOhio · 05/09/2019 20:30

An hour and a half. I'm a teacher.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 05/09/2019 20:32

I start at 7:30am, normally get to work at 7:10am then by the time I get into my uniform, put my lunch in the fridge and my back in the cupboard it’s about 7:20/7:25. So normally ready to go 5-10 mins before my actual shift start time.

ForalltheSaints · 05/09/2019 21:39

Usually about 10 minutes or so.

itssquidstella · 05/09/2019 21:51

I officially start at 8.30 but I quite often have meetings scheduled from 8. I'm always in before then - usually around 7.50.

Youngandfree · 05/09/2019 21:53

I’m a teacher, the kids start at 9, I arrive anytime between half 8 and 8.55. Depending on whether I had to do my dc school drop off.

Redwinestillfine · 05/09/2019 21:54

I start before I get there, clearing emails etc on the way in!

GreyGardens88 · 05/09/2019 21:58

I'm normally in the vicinity of the office at about half 8 but normally sit outside until just before 9. I refuse to start earlier than 9 as I already have to work until 6

maddy68 · 05/09/2019 22:16

Teacher here so at least an hour earlier so I can photocopy etc

MrsLEB · 05/09/2019 22:25

Current job is flexi so I start when I arrive. We have core hours so I try and arrive at the earliest possible to leave as early as possible.

Previous job started at 8.30 and traffic could be unpredictable and boss was strict so always tried to get in for 8.20 latest. Normally between 8.10 and 8.20.

Hederex · 05/09/2019 22:29

I'm usually there 20 minutes early. Sometimes slightly less, rarely more.
I'm on the edge of late a couple of times a year due to traffic etc.
