Do you arrive 5 minutes before you start or more like 15 mins ?

I work flexi time, I aim to arrive at about 8:50, that way I can still fit in a lunch break and leave at 4:30.

YesQueen · 05/09/2019 06:22

In the car park 30 mins before, I have a vape and brew and then get into work 15-20 mins before starting so I can get logged on in time

YesQueen · 05/09/2019 06:25

@Windygate takes me 10 mins to get logged on and set up, and I have to be logged on for my start time or else I'm late. Late twice, lose my commission. Hence I'm always early! But then I'm one of those people that's always early anyway

Mablethorpe · 05/09/2019 06:37

Usually about five minutes before, and I leave on the dot now too.

EleanorReally · 05/09/2019 06:40

as near to my start time as possible

EleanorReally · 05/09/2019 06:40

a colleague apparently comes in 20 minutes early but boy does she complain about it

Sunflowers211 · 05/09/2019 06:52

20 minutes or earlier to hopefully take over from the other crews who have worked non stop for 12/13 hours. Always nice to grab a coffee and a chat first.

Herefortheduration · 05/09/2019 06:55

About 10-15m late, due to school drop off, I don't have breaks and eat lunch at my desk, so don't worry about it. I'm happy to work late some days and when travelling it's always an early start and late finish. If they're flexible for me, I'm happy to be flexible for them.

MinnieMountain · 05/09/2019 07:02

5-10 minutes before. When asked to change my start time slightly to fit in the school run my bosses were happy with that.

brightbluesky · 05/09/2019 07:05

I work in a pastoral support role in a school. Arrive about 15 minutes early. Enough to get my things put away, have a five min catch up.

I don't get paid huge amounts either and work my bum off in my contracted hours as it is!

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 05/09/2019 07:05

I'm always in at 8:15 at the latest - I'm an early riser & I don't like hanging about so once I'm ready I like to leave the flat in the morning this means that there are days I'm at my desk for 7:30. I get coffee, check emails & catch up with my boss about projects I'm working on.

It does allow me flexibility when it comes to school events, appointments etc which those who rock up at 9 on the dot don't get.

mystupidmistake · 05/09/2019 07:07

5 to 10 minutes

SardineJam · 05/09/2019 07:10

Traffic dependent for me, but between 5 and 15 minutes

MsAwesomeDragon · 05/09/2019 07:11

I'm a teacher. School starts at 8:50. I arrive at 8:30 and get printing/photocopying sorted for the day, as well as having time to read emails and have a drink. I'm one of the later arrivals at my school but I can't get there earlier due to childcare and commute times. I just tend to do more work at home than other colleagues who can arrive earlier and leave later.

OneUsernameOnly · 05/09/2019 07:13

I get in half an hour early. I hate rushing and would just be hanging around at home after the school run waiting to go to work. Plus I smoke and only work 5 hours so I see that extra half hour as pay off against taking a couple of cigarette breaks. Luckily my work and boss are flexible and happy with me doing this.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 05/09/2019 07:15

I get paid from 8:30am.

I get there at 7:40am to set up and turn on surgeries.

I only do it because if I left even a couple minutes later the school traffic is horrendous and I'd end up late, and because I absolutely hate feeling rushed. This way I can set up in my own time

imnotinthemood · 05/09/2019 07:19

Shocked at how many bowl up 2 mins before
Well because some of us do the school run and every minute of the day is precious. Before I've left for work I get myself and dc ready . I've put the dishwasher on , bins out sorting out what to have for dinner etc . Drop dc off and rush through rush hour traffic to do a full day in a job that I barely have a 2nd to myself. I'd love to get to be able to get to work 30 minutes early but unfortunately I can't . It's also your choice to get to work early and if it works for you fine.

Abibranning · 05/09/2019 07:23

I drop DS and get in when traffic allows quite often a few mins after I am due in. Luckily I have a boss that understands.

DurhamDurham · 05/09/2019 07:29

I work flexi, people in our office arrive anywhere between 8.15 and 10. I tend to arrive at 9ish which means I can leave at 4.30 (with half an hour for lunch) The first thing I do is put the kettle on, I have my cup of coffee while il going through emails.

mindutopia · 05/09/2019 07:31

I don’t have start and finish times. I work on the train on the way there (and also mumsnet Blush ) and then I get there and unpack, make coffee and work, and then I leave and work on the train on the way home and sometimes after dc are in bed. I don’t take a lunch break either, but I do run errands occasionally or go to the school play or leave to pick up my kids. I do tend to take about 5 minutes to settle in, make coffee, wee when I get there though.

Xanadu58 · 05/09/2019 07:34

Half an hour . Have to get there early to get a parking space

Tippety · 05/09/2019 07:37

10 minutes, gives me time to set the computer up, make a drink and be back at the desk for 5 minutes to.

Animum2 · 05/09/2019 07:41

I start at 9 but get in around 830 so I can have breakfast before i start

Fluffytheevil1 · 05/09/2019 07:42

I’m always a good 10-15 minutes early but my colleagues always turn up 10 minutes late. They all seem to think that no matter where they are, it’ll take 10 minutes to get to wherever they’re supposed to be. It doesn’t. 🤨

DinosApple · 05/09/2019 07:44

When we had our business DH was always early and I worked flexibly (ie all the time).

As a boss my only expectation was that staff would be ready for work at their start time when the doors opened. For example, don't turn up at your start time, then the faff about making cups of tea and bacon butties for 20 minutes (Hmm).

When I find myself employed again I intend to get in 5 minutes before and leave bang on my finish time. It would take a lot of financial persuasion to give up that freedom ever again.
