Do you arrive 5 minutes before you start or more like 15 mins ?

Depends on traffic. Usually aim for 10-15 mins early so that if traffic is bad, I’m not late. If I know I have lots of admin to catch up on, I might get in earlier as the office is quieter first thing but never more than 20-40 mins as I don’t get paid any extra and I can’t drop DS off too early!

velocitygirl7 · 04/09/2019 21:57

School nursery nurse, I go in about 30 minutes before I'm actually paid each day, I wouldn't get everything done if I didn't!

homemadecommunistrussia · 04/09/2019 21:57

I aim to get in 5-10 minutes early. Previously it was about two minutes early as I had a colleague who would always start with work questions whilst I still had my coat on.

I know it can seem a bit mean, but I am not a volunteer.

FixTheBone · 04/09/2019 21:58

NHS consultant.

An hour early to bag a parking space and beat the traffic.

feelingdizzy · 04/09/2019 21:59

I'm a teacher (headteacher) school starts at 9 .I'm usually in about 7.45am.

TinyMystery · 04/09/2019 21:59

Just adding that no one begrudges anyone else taking 2 minutes to bung their lunch in the fridge and make a cup of tea at the start of the day but that might be because we invariably check messages, write emails, sort paperwork etc. In our ‘lunch break’.

BeardedMum · 04/09/2019 22:00

Usually 10-20 mins past 9 when I suppose I should be starting but I work really late...

sweetkitty · 04/09/2019 22:00

Teacher - 30 mins would be earlier but have my own children to drop off first

catflapuk · 04/09/2019 22:00

I arrive 15-20 mins late and leave on time

whiteroseredrose · 04/09/2019 22:01

30 - 40 mins. I go straight to work after dropping off DD.

LolaSmiles · 04/09/2019 22:02

Teacher and I'd normally get in an hour and a half before my first lesson.

Pregnancy and poor sleep has put an end to that and it's more like 45minutes now.

00100001 · 04/09/2019 22:02

Probably walk in office at 8:55

Faff around, say hello, sit down and log in, quick read of emails.

Then get up to make coffee at 9:10.

FatimaLovesBread · 04/09/2019 22:02

Work flexi time so just click in whenever I get there and get paid from then

carlywurly · 04/09/2019 22:02

About 15 generally but that's due to drop offs.

Happy to be in earlier and potter on email and chat to colleagues before I start. Love that time of day

00100001 · 04/09/2019 22:02

Hours 9-5

MustardScreams · 04/09/2019 22:03

Depends on how busy I am that week. If it’s relatively calm I’ll aim to be in 10/15 mins before to get a coffee. If it’s slammed at least an hour or two to try and get on top of things before client meetings are scheduled.

eenymeenymineymo · 04/09/2019 22:03

I work in a supermarket now & try to be in at work ready to start about 5 or 10 minutes before my start time at 8am; I used to be an accountant (I know, I know - a bit of a career change :) ) & used to go into work 1 hour, maybe 1 1/2 hours beforehand to try & keep up with my workload, sometimes too working from home.
The reduction in stress levels def worth this career change

Newschapter · 04/09/2019 22:03

My work hours are 9-6

I start at 8 a few days a week to get time in lieu

We never get paid overtime even if we have to do weekend or evening work

Spinnaret · 04/09/2019 22:04

I work from home, so when I drag myself downstairs. I do a lot of flexible hours to fit round US and Australia, so I don't worry about a set start time.

ElektraUnchained · 04/09/2019 22:05

I work flexi so I either show up whenever I choose (usually 8ish) and record my hours. Or if I cba to go to the office and don't have meetings I just work from home.

Anotherusefulname · 04/09/2019 22:06

I am a TA, I am paid from 8:45 but the expectation is we are in school by 8:30.I usually arrive about 8:15 to get the clearest traffic run.

ElektraUnchained · 04/09/2019 22:08

When I was teaching core hours were 8:40 to 3:15 but I used to get in at 7:30, leave at 4-5 and work more evenings and weekends.

BrokenWing · 04/09/2019 22:09

I'm flexible but plan to work 7:00 - 15:45 with paid 15 min breakfast and unpaid 30 min lunch. This allows me to finish at 12 on a Friday. I leave home at 6:15 which seems to be a traffic sweet spot just before it gets busier, and usually get into work between 6:40-6:50 depending on traffic, if I leave home 10 mins later the journey is 20 mins longer.

MoederVanEen · 04/09/2019 22:10

I'm a teacher and I arrive 15 minutes before my first lesson. I walk to work though so I know exactly how long it takes and don't need to worry about traffic delaying me etc. I love it this way!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/09/2019 22:10

I work flexi with core hours, so not an official start time. Usually around 7.20 am; log on and work till 8 am, which is brew time. When I was a teacher I used to get in for about 7.15 am so I didn't have to fight for the photocopier.
