Anyone else tempted to put the heating on

Absolutely hideous here. Pissing down, thundering, I've opened a nice chianti, and I'm home alone so no DP to start flapping around the thermostat. I'm tempted to stick it on.

North East Scotland here - have had the heating on for the last 30 mins. Had to be done!

Bluntness100 · 16/08/2019 17:43

Mines on too. It's cold. Not going to sit here shivering because it's August and shouldn't be...actually considering filling up thr log basket tomorrow so we can get the log burner going. 😱

Jaffacakebeast · 16/08/2019 17:44

Mine went on for the first time today

twinkletoesimnot · 16/08/2019 17:47

Have you not heard of global warming???? Or a jumper?

Bourbonbiccy · 16/08/2019 17:49

If you're cold, get it fired up. You can't base it on time of year, especially with the weather currently.

Ours come on if it drops below 20/21, so probably not far off.

Ursaminor · 16/08/2019 17:49

I have filled up the log basket - had the log burner on last week. It's been bloody freezing here.

SexFarmWoman · 16/08/2019 17:50

I was wavering but then I thought no, hang on. I’ve a chicken in the fridge that I can roast with all the trimmings. So now I’ve two ovens on full blast, about to eat a full roast dinner and we’re hotter than the sun.

AmIThough · 16/08/2019 17:50

I had it on on Wednesday; I was so toasty.
Do it!

RebornFlame · 16/08/2019 17:51

I’ve heard of both global warming and Jumpers. Neither have stopped me sticking on the heating.

mogloveseggs · 16/08/2019 17:52

Ours is on.
Dm Has been here and put it on. She's also cleaned the bathroom so I'm not going to moan at her Grin
It's lovely and warm

nge54792 · 16/08/2019 17:52

I've had it on quite a bit this week, live in North Scotland and its been miserable.

crosstalk · 16/08/2019 17:53

One bar Halogen on for the dog because she's been swimming and isn't well. Me - well it's cold and raining but I'll throw on another jumper and put some socks on. Deffo not central heating. Yet. Have loads of throws so can sit on a chair and cuddle up. With a book.

Floopily · 16/08/2019 17:53

Mine went on today, it was the first morning I've come downstairs and been cold.I too am home alone with red wine tonight and I want to be warm and cosy on the sofa!

HeronLanyon · 16/08/2019 17:54

I put mine on a few days ago for an hour or so. Had forgotten I’d turned my boiler fully off (even at wall) during the awful heatwave and heating off rather than on sprocket timing. For a moment or two I completely forgot how to turn it all back on !

NannaNoodleman · 16/08/2019 17:54

Log fire's on here. We were all cold & damp when we got home earlier.

BentNeckLady · 16/08/2019 17:55

I’ve lit my stove!

Runkle · 16/08/2019 17:56

In the words of my dad - just put a jumper on.

Lowlandlucky · 16/08/2019 17:57

[Twinkletoes] , yes i have heard all about global warming,it is really damp here and the water table is very high, i live in a old cottage and i can feel the dampness on the furniture, bedding and clothing, i have my DGD aged 10 staying with she has asthma so global warming or not the heating is on.

AudacityOfHope · 16/08/2019 17:58

Just did, the washing will never dry otherwise!

NancyJoan · 16/08/2019 17:58

Tempted, but have had oven and tumble dryer on this afternoon, so we’ve warmed up a bit not.

billybagpuss · 16/08/2019 17:58

I am using the menopause method of heating, sweltering here 😂

DontCallMeShitley · 16/08/2019 17:59

A jumper won't dry the washing or keep my sick cat warm. My heating was on for a few hours most of the week. I don't mind it being cool but it isn't just about me. It has also rained most days here. I think yesterday was the only dry day.

financialdisasterzone · 16/08/2019 18:00

It's on. And the wood burner will be next if this continues!

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 16/08/2019 18:00

Yup mines been on for two hours turned up to 25 degrees.

In my defence I was at Countryfile live for 6 hours from early morning, got soaked to the skin and just can’t seem to warm up !!

Atlasta · 16/08/2019 18:01

I've it set on 22° today. I'm North East.
