Anyone else tempted to put the heating on

Absolutely hideous here. Pissing down, thundering, I've opened a nice chianti, and I'm home alone so no DP to start flapping around the thermostat. I'm tempted to stick it on.

Mine has clicked in this morning - set to 18 degrees.

Fed up that my week’s holiday was full of rotten weather.

I will be going abroad next summer!

I’m in a new build so don’t need the heating on yet. Its a very warm house. It’s a thermostat anyway so will come on when it gets to a certain temperature (21) but if I’m cold I’ll boost it. There’s no way I’m sitting with a hundred layers on in my own home.

Also, what’s with some posters needing DHs permission ? Fuck that

Am at my DMs for a day or two - as soon as we walked in yesterday, she lit her log burner. It was miserable weather yesterday though, I had my winter boots on and a jumper Confused I don't mind it too much as I'm not massively enamoured with being hot, but it does seem a bit early in the year for wrapping up.

I am imagining MN menfolk everywhere striding around yelling 'The thermostats! What have you done to them?!' Hopefully not followed up with a swig of lighter fluid mind you! Grin

We're in London and it's only been chilly a couple of evenings, we did have the gas fire on in the living room then. I'm definitely one for heating going on when I'm cold, never mind the date. Isn't it funny, tho', on threads like this you always get people saying they're quite comfortable in summer clothes at 16 degrees, and then those like me who need four layers in low 20s.

Ten minute blast on mine yesterday. I'm trying to get washing dry for our holiday and it is taking forever. Our house is generally very warm but with drying the washing inside I've got windows open more often so it dropped yesterday.

I was working from home yesterday and despute wearing two pairs of pjs, a hoodie, bed sock and slippers my nose and feet were so cold I caved in and put the heating on.

RoseMartha · 17/08/2019 08:17

No but I felt cold so made a hot water bottle for bed last night

Proseccoagain · 17/08/2019 09:52

Put mine on last night for a couple of hours.

Cucuclown99999 · 17/08/2019 09:58

I really wanted to put it on.
But I was embarrassed as it’s AUGUST!

I got the blankets and jumpers out.

LifeOfBox · 17/08/2019 10:43

I really don’t get the time of year angst on these threads. Damp with 12 degrees feels the same whatever the time of year.

How can you be embarrassed in your own home by putting the heating on when it's chilly?

Happysummer2020 · 18/08/2019 01:18

I put my heating o last night (London). Today was much better.but it was proper cold!!
