Anyone else tempted to put the heating on

Absolutely hideous here. Pissing down, thundering, I've opened a nice chianti, and I'm home alone so no DP to start flapping around the thermostat. I'm tempted to stick it on.

No, not here. Although it seems I'm in the minority. I enjoy it being cooler. In our house, unless we are wrapped up and still chilly, the heating stays off. Love being snuggled in a blanket as it gets cooler.

Bonniefoible · 16/08/2019 18:40

Tempted? Hmm It's already on. It's damp and bloody Baltic here.Wink

Frownette · 16/08/2019 18:41

Had it on for half hour a couple days ago as I was shivering in bed. I need to locate my hot water bottle.

Oblomov19 · 16/08/2019 18:41

Dh said the same. I laughed. He normally needs it on at the last possible minute = mid February.

noseynelly · 16/08/2019 18:42

I thought about it but just my hoody on instead, I'm nice and toasty in this, I refuse to put the heating on until October at the earliest because how dare it be bloody cold in August Hmm

megletthesecond · 16/08/2019 18:42

Mine was on for an hour, Hampshire.

I'm already in warm clothes and thick slipper socks. And I've been pottering around cleaning. The air was still cold.

Frownette · 16/08/2019 18:42

@Bwekfusth did you innocently deny it? Grin

Jayaywhynot · 16/08/2019 18:42

Mines on, drying washing too

awsomeDean · 16/08/2019 18:43

I'm hiding under a blanket on the sofa and wore wool sock to bed

Wheninfrome · 16/08/2019 18:44

I was thinking about putting it a couple of hours ago but talked myself out of it. On the back of this thread I've just thought 'fuck it' and the rads are just warming up 😊

YorkshireIndie · 16/08/2019 18:47

Put it on for an hours blast. Gets the house warmed up. It is miserable outside and sometimes needs must

pinkcardi · 16/08/2019 18:50

North east of Scotland and it has been on today.

It's cold, and damp, and my washing was still wet after 36hrs of 'drying' inside.

Fire was on yesterday too

LER83 · 16/08/2019 18:50

I was gonna put it on earlier but dh talked me out of it as it's August! Its bloody freezing, kids have got their dressing gowns on, I've got a jumper and my slippers on! It's been raining all day and it's just miserable! He might be more easily swayed to light the open fire, men love to start fires!

HeyMonkey · 16/08/2019 18:51

Yes, my washing from Wednesday was still damp when I got in from work today. I put it in the tumbler for 30 mins.

August my arse.

I'm not cold. I'm in a delightfully sartorial combination of knee length shorts, sleeveless top with a sweatshirt type hoodie over it and stripy woollen socks.
I have 2 windows open, but have just put the heating on for 30 minutes as I washed a sleeping bag and although it feels dry, I want to make doubly sure before I stuff it in a sack and shove it in the cupboard. I don't use a tumble dryer and reckon that although doing this isn't eco friendly, it's got to be better to do this occasionally than always using a tumble dryer. In my defence, it has poured down with rain continually today!

StumpyinSomerset · 16/08/2019 18:55

Heating on? Not here. It's been chucking it down all day but it's not cold - 18 degrees here,I'm roasting in my pyjamas (vest top and trousers) I've got the window open a little.

ReeReeR · 16/08/2019 18:55

Heating is on! 😬

DuploRelatedInjury · 16/08/2019 18:56

Nope. It's August. I can't put the heating on in August. DH would though, if he was left unattended.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 16/08/2019 19:05

I put mine on for a little earlier. I was drenched and freezing and just needed it on lol

happypotamus · 16/08/2019 19:05

We just arrived at a caravan on the Welsh coast where it is very wet and windy. DH put the heating on because he thought it was cold though he insisted on having the air conditioning on in the car all the way here.

Bwekfusth · 16/08/2019 19:05

@Frownette I blamed the residual warmth on the tumble dryer having been on. I even said "yeah it is a bit warm isn't it?!" 🤫

Stressedout10 · 16/08/2019 19:08

I must say I'm a bit Confused at everyone with the heating on its 16°C here and just like all my neighbour's I've got windows and backdoor open

fleshmarketclose · 16/08/2019 19:11

I put mine on half an hour ago, I resisted earlier and pottered about instead but it's too cold to sit comfortably now. Dd and ds who are really nesh are delighted it's back on.

Bwekfusth · 16/08/2019 19:12

@Stressedout10 it was 35-38 degrees here a few weeks ago. Think it's made the 12-15 we've had lately feel a bit nippy!

megletthesecond · 16/08/2019 19:13

16° is freezing.

I don't feel warm unless we have a crazy heatwave. 30° is warm.
