Anyone else tempted to put the heating on

Absolutely hideous here. Pissing down, thundering, I've opened a nice chianti, and I'm home alone so no DP to start flapping around the thermostat. I'm tempted to stick it on.

It's quite warm here. I have all the windows open.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 18:07

No, it might be wet and windy but it's still pretty warm here, inside temp is 20° and we've had windows open most of the day. Our thermostat kicks in at 18°

CherryPavlova · 16/08/2019 18:09

We’ve the Aga back on and a fire lit.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 16/08/2019 18:09

I very quickly read your opening post as I was making dinner and thought Bless. You're only having a chapati for dinner. That's not a lot.

Read it again and immediately my brain said "I ate his liver with a nice chianti"

AwdBovril · 16/08/2019 18:10

Nope. Slippers, hoodie. Draught excluders. Am knitting a blanket so that's on my lap. Goddammit, I will not submit! Grin

RogueV · 16/08/2019 18:10

I have just put ours on!

VioletCharlotte · 16/08/2019 18:12

I have thought about it, but resisted and put on a jumper and fluffy socks instead.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 16/08/2019 18:12

Thinking about the actual point of the thread now. Atlasta North East here too. Just clearing the stove out to light it. It's more to do with how damned dark the sky is though. Need comfort food too.

Choufleur · 16/08/2019 18:12

I’m considering the wood burner.

Kaykay06 · 16/08/2019 18:15

It’s grey and miserable here but it’s also 18 degrees (central Scotland) def not cold
my heating won’t be going on for a long time yet!!!

Noonemournsthewicked · 16/08/2019 18:16

I've had it on this week. Was sitting in a fleecy jumper and thick socks under a duvet and thought fuck this for a game of soldiers and whacked it on.
Always good to test the pipes after a long break of it being off anyway.

I'm usually a stoic 'wait until October' kinda gal but the weather this summer has been consistently wet and miserable apart from one hot week and I'm sick of it. August is probably my least favourite month.

6utter6ean · 16/08/2019 18:17

South west here.

yup. I came in and stuck it on for 40 min at 21'c.
House is cold and damp and the washing will never dry.

missbattenburg · 16/08/2019 18:17

The heating?!?! This is the first (lovely) time in weeks it's not been too warm.

We've still got all the widows open Grin

0pheIiaBaIIs · 16/08/2019 18:18

Mine has been on loads this 'summer'. Meant to be going out later but all I want to do is whack it on full blast, get into my tatty old Smiths t shirt and leggings cosy pyjamas and hunker down with a glass of red.

missbattenburg · 16/08/2019 18:18

Windows. We don't do anything with widows. Confused

boredboredboredboredbored · 16/08/2019 18:18

West Mids and mines on. Just got in from work & it was bloody freezing!!!

MelanieFrontage · 16/08/2019 18:20

Yep, our went on on Wed afternoon and I’ve just switched it on this evening.
Like others I’m tempted to get the log burner going but that would be too hot!

HeyMonkey · 16/08/2019 18:20

I am wearing a jumper! I'm wearing a hoodie, pyjama bottoms, socks and slippers.

I wouldn't put the heating on for shits and giggles if I was just lolling around in my underwear, I'm not that much of a twat.

OP posts:
MelanieFrontage · 16/08/2019 18:22

I’ve also got thick thermal woolly socks on and my winter slippers, this weather is ridiculous.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 18:24

I'm barefoot in leggings and a shirt and have been pretty warm all day. It's 16° outside so pretty mild, I've been out in sandals.

PantsyMcPantsface · 16/08/2019 18:31

I'm in my hoodie I throw on around the house when I'm feeling cold and about to go get a blanket out on the sofa.

SeaSaltandLime · 16/08/2019 18:35

It's been on here twice today.

I refuse to be freezing in my own home plus it's nigh on impossible to layer up a toddler and sit under a blanket with her.
She gets frustrated with anymore than 2 layers on - especially when trying to play.

cantfindname · 16/08/2019 18:35

I put a jumper on and was still cold so the heating has just gone on too.

20viona · 16/08/2019 18:37

I've put it on!!

Bwekfusth · 16/08/2019 18:38

Put mine on last night while OH was at work. Couldn't have put it on with him here, he would have shit a brick. He came in at 11 and immediately said "has the heating been on?" I'd turned it off 2 hours before. Men and thermostats. Load of knobs.
