Anyone else tempted to put the heating on

Absolutely hideous here. Pissing down, thundering, I've opened a nice chianti, and I'm home alone so no DP to start flapping around the thermostat. I'm tempted to stick it on.

@Bwekfusth
35-38°C Shock that's ridiculously hot we were all melting at 25°(heatwave temp) I guess it's just what you're used to

sameshitnewday999 · 16/08/2019 19:21

It's pissed down for 2 days straight in London 😫.

Me and DD have had a lovely day. She's played with every single toy and watched a film. I got a few jobs done around the house and a few wash loads done.

We just had a chicken stew for dinner done in the slow cooker with warm buttered crusty bread. Dd has had her bedtime bottle and fallen a sleep on my lap wrapped up snug in her fleecy blanket. So we're snuggled up and I'm watching Netflix. Bliss.

As much as I love summer I'm ready for the cosy winter now!

Justmuddlingalong · 16/08/2019 19:25

I'm lying in the sofa with fleecy hoodie on and a hot water bottle on my belly. It's dull, cloudy and raining on and off here. Would put the heating on if I could be arsed moving.

historysock · 16/08/2019 19:33

Went on on Wednesday (in fairness we had just got back from a sunny holiday and were experiencing a temperature shock) and back on again today. House feels a bit damp rather than really cold ( but our house always feels quite chilly except the lounge which is always broiling).
But the best thing for keeping me warm is my new huge full body pillow that DP bought me. It's got a fleece cover on it. I've been in bed with it all day revising for a maths exam. I may never get up. It feels like autumn here with the weather and my cosy pillow.

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 16/08/2019 19:40

I'm tempted but DH has said no! I've shut all the windows and got my winter lounge wear on with big fluffy socks! Going to bed with wine and a book soon!

LifeOfBox · 16/08/2019 19:40

Mine is on, we arrived home from a holiday cottage at the coast in Northumberland today and have had it on most of the week there plus a fire.

It has been down to single figures at nighttime.

managedmis · 16/08/2019 19:41

I wouldn't put the heating on for shits and giggles if I was just lolling around in my underwear, I'm not that much of a twat.

^
I should think not.

FuckAPotNoodle · 16/08/2019 19:49

Nope! Central scotland and still got my windows open

LadyLindaT · 16/08/2019 20:02

I am so relieved that it wasn't just me. Heating is on. I am calling it "Just taking the chill off."

timeforawine · 16/08/2019 20:04

Worked from home today, nursery run on the bus in the pouring rain so yep the heating went on Grin

1WayOrAnother · 16/08/2019 20:05

I'm currently freezing in a tent. Get your heating on and be grateful!

AlphaJura · 16/08/2019 20:10

I wasn't cold but I had to put it on the other day because it's been raining constantly and I can't get the washing dry. I don't have a tumble dryer so dry it outside, in the winter, I dry it indoors on airers because the heatings on anyway. If the heating isn't on, it just takes ages and starts piling up and I've nowhere to put it.

campion · 16/08/2019 20:22

@1WayOrAnother
A plan:
1 Find a warm B&B / hotel
or
2 Go home
Meanwhile have plenty of Brew and Wine

Heating on here and candles flickering pleasingly.

Roussette · 16/08/2019 20:22

Yes I can imagine wanting to put it on and pissed off with all these threads whinging about summer.

BRING BACK HEAT!!

Bwekfusth · 16/08/2019 20:24

@Stressedout10 it was absolutely insane. I have experienced an Australian summer and Hertfordshire matched it that week.

Giggorata · 16/08/2019 20:30

Yes, me. Got out me fake Uggs slippers and socks and furry Cardi tonight...

Screamanger · 16/08/2019 20:38

We have collected about 7 tons of firewood, that should last us Mid October through March. If we start burning early we will run out sooner and be cold In the spring

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 16/08/2019 20:39

We've got the log burner lit Blush

Bluntness100 · 16/08/2019 21:08

Well let's hope it rains it's self out, I've a big party next weekend and if this continues I shall need to cancel...

DrCoconut · 16/08/2019 21:34

It's cold and bucketed with rain all day. The weather forecast suggests that "summer" is over. We've had a handful of pleasantly warm days and one hot one all year. The rest has been soggy and grey with lots of ruined plans. Such a disappointment as I'd hoped to do another seaside trip with the DC, but I'm not going if it's cold and wet. I haven't quite put the heating on yet but considered it last night.

CremeEggThief · 16/08/2019 21:55

Nope, but I will be under my fleece blanket soon, and I've been wearing socks and a lightweight hoody most of the week.

CremeEggThief · 16/08/2019 21:55

NE England here.

TowerRingInferno · 16/08/2019 22:14

Lit a fire yesterday evening

Would have done so today but dh vetoed it ( he wasn’t here yesterday)

Think it gets a bit warmer here tomorrow though.

BamBamBam · 16/08/2019 22:41

Had the heating on every day this week, only an hour here and there - early morning/evenings to take the chill off, on longer in the evenings usually. I wouldn't have coped without it this week, even wrapped up in my dressing gown I've been freezing so DS definitely would have been too cold.

On the plus side, I have no washing for weekend as I've managed to get it all washed and dried through the week with the heating being on! (only plus side to cold weather imo)

1arlingtonroad · 16/08/2019 23:09

I’ve had mine on the last 3 nights.
