Oasis, Live Forever. Me and my best uni friend swaggering around the dance floor, feeling like we would, and that we had the world at our feet.

He inexplicably cut contact with me after uni and I’ve never heard from him again. And I no longer feel like I’ll live forever and I still miss him. If I hear it I full on can’t- breathe sob and howl.

Dance with my father by Luther Vandross.

My dad was a quiet man of few words but I know he loved me. I wish I had told him I loved him back more often and just talked about life.

Mileysmiley · 18/08/2019 18:06

Mark Ronson - Find U Again

RuffleCrow · 18/08/2019 20:56

Ash - Oh Yeah and Girl From Mars.

Pulp- Babies and Do You Remember The First Time?

Just Ouch! Love them but it's painful

RuffleCrow · 18/08/2019 20:59

Also Wake Up Boo by the Boo Radleys and another vote for Don Henley's Boys of Summer. In a similar vein - Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.

And Ooh Baby I Love Your Way (by Aswad?)

RuffleCrow · 18/08/2019 21:04

Weirdly, i think all the songs i've chosen were written to be nostalgic in the first place!

Schwibble · 18/08/2019 21:27

Endless Summer Nights - Richard Marx

Mammyloveswine · 20/08/2019 16:49

@dustarr73 yes! Just made me feel so sad! There were a few more but that one I used to just cry when it came on the radio!

Atlasta · 20/08/2019 17:01

U sure do- Strike.
Young, free, not a care in the world and out on the town

Atlasta · 20/08/2019 17:03

Posted too soon.
When I hear it now I could weep at my lost youth and how things never really turned out like I thought back then

I have songs for each of my DC which always break my heart a little. DD1 'My Girl' by The Temptations. DS 'Babe' by Take That, and DD2 'Sara' by fleetwood Mac.
Also 'This Woman's Work' by Kate Bush and 'Cry To Me' by Solomon Burke when exh had left me for OW.
'Sleeping Satellite' by Tasmin Archer. Reminds me of being married, having DD1 (One year old) and being pregnant with her brother and realising that I was stuck in a marriage to someone who didn't love me. Like a PP, proper ugly crying involved, snot bubbles and everything.

Hurt by Christina Aguilera reminds me of a sad time in my life.

Bouncingbelle · 20/08/2019 18:10

Soul asylum - runaway train. Reminds me of being a teenager and losing my dad and just feeling so so lost.
Savage garden - truly madly deeply & semisonic - closing time take me straight back to the time & people that put my life back together. outsselftothosewhoknow
Christina perri 1000 years. I listened to this a loy during 8 long uears of infertility. "And all along i believed i would find you..."....and i did :)

Schwibble · 20/08/2019 18:14

Example - Ten Million People (Can't Be Wrong) - fairly recent tune, but makes me weirdly nostalgic.

Greyeye · 22/02/2020 16:44

Thirteen Days - J J Cale.

Reminds me of my former boyfriend at uni...

missmouse101 · 22/02/2020 16:56

Ride on Time. Instantly back in SU bar at college without a care in the world. Sad I would go back in an instant if I could!

FrenchFancie · 22/02/2020 17:32

U2 with or without you.... probably self explanatory.

For a song that drops me instantly back into me teenage angst years - Zombie by the Cranberries.

Also the whole of ‘californication’ by the red hot chilli peppers - drops me straight into my worst term at Uni and I can’t listen to it now....

tinytemper66 · 22/02/2020 17:52

'Dance with my father again'as my dad loved to dance with my sister and I but I felt embarrassed and wouldn't always do so. Now however to have one chance, I would dance with my father again!
