Fun touches to your wedding

Hi,

I’m only starting to plan our wedding. Kind of have an idea in mind- everyone wearing sunset colour scheme, lemon and orange slices in water in vases for table decoration among some bright flowers

Let’s share some ideas for quirky, pretty and/or fun ideas to make a wedding setting ‘pop’. Having our day in Scotland so it can rain and be bleak, want something Pinterest-worthy to make the wedding colourful and interesting, without spending too much.

As an example, I made artificial flower corsages using online supplies for a relative and all her female guests (very small wedding, no bridesmaids) as keepsakes from the day. That was their wedding favour instead of getting something noone needs like a mini alcohol bottle or a sweetie.

Thanks!

BillGiggeloe, will look them up, would the venue need to give us permission to use them?

I want to know what happens to anyone who turns up wearing what you consider unsuitable? Do they get banished to the back of the church/room, made to hide behind a pillar while photographs are being taken, have to eat out in the garden - that's if you ever get past past the colour coding and actually order food? Hmm

I spotted early on that your sunset theme wasn't just yellow and orange. Good job, as although I wear colourful stuff I avoid yellow and orange as they make me look sick, really awful. 😁

I generally wear a navy dress and use as accessories, last time I had hot pink accessories to match the wedding colours. As a fat person, I find colours can often be used to distract anyway.

God, there's some nasty people on here.

SilverySurfer, and I want to know what fun and pretty things I can add to my wedding. I guess neither of us will get what we want from each other. I have answered this very question on this thread already, if you really want to find the answer.

MulticolourMophead, navy goes with so many colours, very nice! I wouldn’t wear head-to-toe orange either, coral is nicer, and can be found in a sunset😊

@StrongInside "laughing at the condoms bit, what sort of wedding was this😃 Thoughtful bride and groom, those baskets must have come in handy"
The funniest bit about the condoms is that the three young teens at my table (including my daughter) are the ones who noticed the condoms and would check on them every time they had gone to the bathroom-they cam and informed us at around 11 that "the protection was gone!" Lol
It was a very lovely wedding with lots of young people at it-there was a sprinkling of old marrieds there with our children, but most of the couple's friends were young and still at girlfriend/boyfriend stage. The baskets were fun and full of thoughtful little bits and were a huge talking point :)

Haha, priceless comment from the teens! Certainly made the day fun for all, by the sounds of it.

We had a magician while people were milling in between the ceremony and the meal. Everyone loved it

StrongInside · 02/08/2019 08:21

BillThePony, yes, magicians seem to be a popular choice. Did you meet them beforehand to discuss what tricks they do? I have seen some really cool tricks and some really cheesy ones. I couldn’t hold an audition obviously (or could I?🤔😬).

You could make raspberry vodka and sloe gin for sunset colours to go in the prosecco.

MulticolourMophead · 02/08/2019 14:59

Hope your wedding goes well. X

I think the most memorable weddings I have been to have been those without all the extra bits, such as themes, games, sweet carts, photo booths etc. To be honest I don't think it is necessary to "entertain" your guests, surely the wedding itself is why they are there? Maybe I'm just old fashioned!

BillThePony · 02/08/2019 18:40

I actually saw him in action at a wedding fair, nothing cheesy just amazing simple tricks, he was actually very funny as well.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I have a few good ideas to go on. Problem now is finding a venue but there is a separate thread for that. Again, I have something quite specific in mind. Hopefully that thread will be a lighter read😊

I don’t suppose you had an answer to my question, Lolyora17?
