If you voted Leave, did you/do you want 'no deal'?

No arguments or even debates about Brexit, not wanting to start a fight, just want to count the numbers in a very unscientific manner.
It seems any deal at all is quickly falling off the table, never mind the easiest deal in history.

If you voted Leave , do you want 'no deal'?

I voted leave. I believe a "deal" is looking increasingly unlikely, so am now happy with "no deal".

I think people are not realising that we will have a deal with the EU, like it or not

Not necessarily, ofc ideally, we'd both benefit from a comprehensive FTA but the way the rhetoric is heading we might well find ourselves pulling away from the EU.

A no-deal and refusing to pay the £39 billion we owe, or was agreed we owe, will lead to anger and distrust from the EU, hardly conducive to negotiating a FTA.

The EU/Swiss thing has been a thorn in the side of the EU for many years, its nothing new, they have had a fractious relationship for decades, the latest over EU/Swiss stock exchange access, rules and regs.

Its another example of a country wanting the benefits of EU membership without the responsibilities of membership.

It reminds me of the anxiety about the millennium bug in 1999; all sorts of doomsday predictions but we woke up in 2000 and precisely nothing had changed.
But this may have been because of all the prepping and planning behind the scenes.

Really?! You think? Grin

I think people are not realising that we will have a deal with the EU, like it or not I think the UK can not be seen or allowed to be seen to screw around with the internationally agreed Good Friday Agreement - which at the moment the no deal peeps seem to have completely dismissed - agreements are built on trust - Boris is not seen as trustworthy and it's no surprise why!

I voted Leave based on lies. The things I expected to result from Brexit aren’t going to happen. I didn’t particularly want a no deal Brexit but would have deemed it a price worth paying if the other promises were being realised. But they’re not.

@BizzzzyBee

What was it you expected?

More money for the NHS. Reduced EU immigration - my home town has already suffered negative impacts from a large influx of EU immigrants and at the time of the vote it seemed likely that Turkey would join the EU causing a new influx. Plus the EU was threatening to impose a compulsory quota of economic migrants too. And control over our fishing waters - I still bear a grudge about my town’s fishing livelihood being destroyed when UK fishing rights were signed over to the EU.

Now it’s clear there won’t be any additional money for the NHS, and the EU has demanded free movement of people and access to fishing waters as conditions of the deal. So basically all the reasons I voted Leave won’t happen. In that case I don’t see the point of leaving!

Turkey was never going to join the EU.

What source did you believe about that?

Cobblersandhogwash · 06/08/2019 07:14

The U.K. fishing firms sold their fishing quotas.

The EU cannot impose immigrants on us.

Our very own Home Secretary failed to implement our domestic restrictions on immigrants.

Plus, on the whole, immigrants benefit our country.
