What drives you mad about MNers?

I woke up grumpy today and reading some posts is making me grumpier. Perhaps I'm turning into a curmudgeon. But sometimes I read posts and think "Good grief, woman, you don't help yourself, do you?"

The gems that seem to pop up with alarming regularity: "We live rurally and I don't drive" in a post complaining of a lack of access to, well, anything really.

Or: "We don't have any family close by to babysit so DH and I haven't been out on our own since 2004." Do what we all do then and pay for a babysitter!

Ugh. This heat is making me grouchy. Anything make you want to shake another MNer?

OP posts:
AfterSchoolWorry · 27/07/2019 17:21

How overly polite people are! I don't like confrontation

Well what do you expect anyone to do?

Weebitawks · 27/07/2019 17:22

They way some spout pure bullshit and act like it's a fact.

Bookworm4 · 27/07/2019 17:24

Posts a tale of a complete train wreck then ends ‘please be gentle’ then when ppl start saying you/DH/Mil is a fuckwit, the OP then accuses the poster of being nasty and I’m not engaging 🙄

ithinkiammelting · 27/07/2019 17:27

The ones where someone is complaining about an arsehole friend, neighbour, dp or relative and the inevitable poster rushes in waving the 'maybe they have autism' flag.

Actually most people who are arseholes are just arseholes.

HollowTalk · 27/07/2019 17:30

I hate it when people say "I came on here to say..." based purely on the thread title, eg "AIBU to not let my mum see my child." I can just see them bustling in to sort the OP out, based on no information at all.

IncrediblySadToo · 27/07/2019 17:39

Posters who don’t even bother to read all of the op’s Posts, let alone anyone else’s then wade in 800 posts into a thread to state the bloody obvious like the rest of us are just too thick to have suggested the same thing 790 posts ago 🙄

soulrunner · 27/07/2019 17:43

The number of people who seem to make unbelievably poor life decisions and seem incapable of thinking beyond their current or best case scenario in order to make a sensible one - possibly ties into pp's point re "trust your instinct hun". No! Dont!! Fucking terrible idea! especially when your instinct tells you to get it on with some guy who's 20 years older than you, has chronic MH issues and gambling debts and whose teenage children hate your guts. If your instinct says that's a good idea then get it surgically removed.

I know it's unhelpful for posters to say "why did you have another kid with him when he's a lazy piece of shit?" or "why did you get 6 dogs when you're private renting" etc when the ship's sailed, but most of the time it's a legitimate, if irrelevant question.

Shockers · 27/07/2019 17:51

I find the term ‘gaslighting’ overused on MN. It’s almost as though some posters have just learnt the word and want to shoehorn it into every thread.

PurpleDaisies · 27/07/2019 17:54

The “am I pregnant?” threads. Usually something like “I had sex ten minutes ago, I’ve got sore boobs and cravings for chalk, but I haven’t done a test”.

pusspuss9 · 27/07/2019 17:54

The judgemental ones

being judgemental is positive. It's why we live in harmony with each other. We judge our own and others actions many times a day. Was this good? was it bad? Is this child being bullied ?
Being non judgemental means that everybody does exactly as they please irrespective of the consequences on others, and are able to get away with it as he non judgementals will allow it without comment.

It reminds me of the saying 'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

midsomermurderess · 27/07/2019 17:59

You lot. You are as much MN as the mythical other your are disparaging.

BollocksIsTheWord · 27/07/2019 18:00

When it’s so much easier to Google something but they post on here then have to wait for replies! “Quick! Help needed! Can I take 10kg on a Ryanair flight!” Or similar.

Same applies to Facebook- “Anyone got the number for the Chinese on the High Street”?!! Someone else has to Google it and go to the trouble of posting it to save them Googling it themselves?! Actually saw one yesterday posting saying she couldn’t be arsed to Google or ask Siri- yet could be bothered to type out a status and then wait however long for a response!

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/07/2019 18:01

The ones who stay with serial cheats. After 700 ltb comments “we're making a go of it”.

Slazengerbag · 27/07/2019 18:07

I’m 27 and my husband, the father of our 12 children has left me for my mother. We are no homeless and I have 31p to last until the end of the month. 3 children are in hospital having heart surgery 4 have severe autism and I’ve just had a heart attack and I’m having treatment for cancer.

First poster writes. I can’t read this without paragraphs and your grammar is awful

NoSauce · 27/07/2019 18:07

How people take the OPs word as gospel and never question that they might be portraying their side of the story in a positive light.

How MILs are always wrong no matter what.
How MILs are always right no matter what.

Those who think that men are always in the wrong, sometimes they are but not always.

Those who agree with the OP just because.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/07/2019 18:08

The "let the tyres down" / "block them in" / "get a rugby team to bump it into the middle lane of the M25" on parking threads.

The " tell them I;ll look after Jimmy after school and my fee is £10/hour " in the PlayDate isn't Childcare threads when the OP is dealing with a CF but isn't a Childminder so therefore cannot charge .

x2boys · 27/07/2019 18:08

And Narcissists ,Shockers this also massively overused on here, usually when the Op just doesn't like someone for whatever reason ( usually their ex or Mil) they are always a "Total Narc",I hate the sanctimony on here about people drinking alcohol if someone admits to having a few glasses of wine 2 or 3 times a week ,you can guarantee poster after poster will express their horror over this and immediately start saying the Op has a problem with alcohol etc.

NoSauce · 27/07/2019 18:09

Those god damn long, long posts that witter on and go round and round the houses with lots of fuming and livid thrown in when the whole thread could be summarised in 3 small sentences.

HollowTalk · 27/07/2019 18:09

What gets me is when someone says they think they are pregnant, they are desperately hoping to be pregnant but refuses to take a test early because of the cost. To me it shows a complete misunderstanding of the financial impact that a child has on your life.

WorraLiberty · 27/07/2019 18:10

The ones who leave their DC's age out of the OP.

It's nearly always, always relevant! Angry

And breeeathe Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/07/2019 18:11

Oh and the "Book a Spa Day" ones .

DH works 6 days a week, leaves at 7am comes home at 6pm.
On Sunday , he let me get up at 6am to feed the baby . shouldn't I have a lie in ?

When's your free time ? You should just tell him he's looking after the baby today and book a spa-day ......... Erm Hmm

Bazinga277 · 27/07/2019 18:11

@x2boys omg yes to the alcohol thing!!! There's real judgement on MN surrounding that. I once contributed to a thread about drinking and was told in no uncertain terms I was an alcoholic. When I tried to explain logically all of the reasons why I'm not I was told I'm in denial. I probably have 2-3 glasses of wine a week 😂

Tenpenny · 27/07/2019 18:13

Yy to the popular posters who would show up with a one-liner and get heaps of praise for it, even if they were only repeating an opinion already shared on the thread. Can't be bothered with that.

BusterGonad · 27/07/2019 18:15

Bazinga277 of course you are, unless it's 5 gins a night or a bottle of wine, then you're just a normal frazzled mum.

TheSproutOfWrath · 27/07/2019 18:15

I really hate "I didn't want to read and run , I'm sure someone else will be along in a few minutes" .
