I'm tempted to say Devon but there's so many wonderful places out there and so many I haven't visited. I love Yorkshire too. What's your nomination?

Derbyshire, obviously. Closely followed by Cornwall.

The worst? Surrey, equally obviously.

mrswarthog · 16/07/2019 20:51

I'm from the Merseyside /Lancashire border, DH is from the Gower & we've lived all over the UK, but it has to be Yorkshire. It's just beautiful, beaches, moors, history, big cities, tiny cathedral towns, fab market towns. Its quintessentially British.

ALittleBitAlexis · 16/07/2019 20:54

Northumberland has it all, for me.

MockerstheFeManist · 16/07/2019 20:59

Best for what?

Mountains?

Beaches?

Pasties and Clotted Cream?

.....anyway, it's Dorset.

Dowser · 16/07/2019 21:00

North Yorkshire

Grew up there and didn’t realise until I lived in Greater London and Herts just how fab North Yorkshire really is. Given the opportunity (jobs!) we would move there in a heartbeat. Sighs

Delatron · 16/07/2019 22:33

Can’t believe someone mentioned Blackpool as a selling point for their country...

Al2O3 · 16/07/2019 22:36

StarJumps East Sussex?

Burlea · 16/07/2019 22:44

Cheshire

StarJumpsandaHalf · 16/07/2019 22:49

@A1203 Sssssh, don't tell anyone Grin

Al2O3 · 16/07/2019 22:58

Well, your ruled out IOW and Dorset (two triangles without motorways) as they are clearly more than an hour away. Suffolk might be stretching it at an hour. There’s only East Sussex with no motorway and less than an hour, though you need a fair wind to Buck House in that timescale.

But yes East Sussex is beautiful.

StumpyinSomerset · 16/07/2019 23:00

Somerset.
ALL of it - North,South,East and West.

Al2O3 · 16/07/2019 23:05

Especially Bridgwater....

Dandelion1993 · 16/07/2019 23:11

Kent!

Garden of England, fabulous vineyards and hop Gardens, home of Canterbury Cathedral.

You can also enjoy day trips to France easily, great shopping at Bluewater and cna get to London fairly easily for West End trips

outofnothing · 16/07/2019 23:16

Yorkshire is close to paradise but only coz it borders Lancashire Smile

Fifthtimelucky · 16/07/2019 23:32

Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Pembrokeshire for me.

But as others have attacked it, I'm going to defend Surrey, which is not all boring commuter belt. It's the most leafy county in England, has lots of beautiful villages and National Trust land, and it's easy to get to London and to the coast.

User10fuckingmillion · 16/07/2019 23:34

Burlea that makes two of us. It’s lovely isn’t it?

ineedaknittedhat · 16/07/2019 23:34

SkiingIsHeaven · 17/07/2019 00:01

Would say Cheshire but only West Cheshire. The other side is full of knob heads.

watsmyname · 17/07/2019 00:01
