I'm tempted to say Devon but there's so many wonderful places out there and so many I haven't visited. I love Yorkshire too. What's your nomination?

@campion I still do.

9 years and counting till I can move back.

wump · 17/07/2019 00:08

Undoubtedly Cornwall

VetOnCall · 17/07/2019 00:09

Antrim and Devon.

sweetkitty · 17/07/2019 00:13

Any in Scotland

Lovelyhotday · 17/07/2019 00:24

How interesting that pretty much all of the Home Counties where so many people live don't really get a mention! How about Berkshire, Northamptonshire, Bucks etc or are we just thinking mostly holiday destinations? I mean Cornwall is nice enough but I bet it's hard to make a decent living there.

Nofilter · 17/07/2019 00:26

Shropshire!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 17/07/2019 00:26

Cornwall and Devon, while lovely, are where people go to die. We moved to Northumberland because we wanted to live.

MrsMiggins37 · 17/07/2019 00:30

If going strictly by county I’d say Cornwall or Northumberland but the west coast of Scotland heading up to Skye can’t be beaten for me.

AquaPris · 17/07/2019 00:34

@isitwhatitis they split the county of Yorkshire into tidings because it was too big to govern. It's people know we are one people

AquaPris · 17/07/2019 00:35

@isitwhatitis no. It is split into north, west and South Yorkshire or east, west and south riding. East Yorkshire is the Humber which doesn't county

AquaPris · 17/07/2019 00:36

@Theghosttrain n Yorkshire is so big you barely see a tourist when living there

campion · 17/07/2019 00:42

OhamIreally I had to reassess slightly when DS2 was born in the MidlandsShock
I didn't want him feeling too sad. But he tells me he wished he had been born in Yorkshire so maybe I didn't hide it very well.

I'm still in the Midlands still feeling exiled after many years; he's now the wrong side of the Pennines but can access God's Own County when he wants to.

Delatron · 17/07/2019 07:24

The problem with the Home Counties (and I live here) is that they all blur in to one with no real identity. I’m at a crossroads between three and they’re all similar. Not a patch on Yorkshire..! ( I’d move back apart from job and friends).

sashh · 17/07/2019 07:53

Lancashire, of course.
Yorkshire is just there to keep the bad weather from us.

At the age of 10 I was dragged across the pennines by missionary parents intent on bringing civilisation to Lancashire.

I can assure you the bad weather is not in Yorkshire.

My evidence for this is

a) my paternal grand parents visited many times and the only time it didn't rain was when it snowed.

b) the historical fact, Yorkshire mills spun and wove wool, Lancashire mills spun and wove cotton. This is because cotton is better processed in a wet climate.

The inferiority of Lancashire has even been sung about.

Fibbke · 17/07/2019 08:01

Devon is depressing!

Fibbke · 17/07/2019 08:03

Dorset is much nicer than Devon.

poopypants · 17/07/2019 08:09

But isn't Yorkshire cold?

MyOtherProfile · 17/07/2019 08:11

But isn't Yorkshire cold?

Nope, it's heated by the warm hearts of the Yorkshire people Grin

sproutsandparsnips · 17/07/2019 08:14

Carmarthenshire

Marylou2 · 17/07/2019 08:21

Cheshire, although Shropshire and Suffolk are lovely too.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 17/07/2019 08:39

Cornwall to visit.
But I like where I live on the south coast.

PineappleSeahorse · 17/07/2019 08:40

Cornwall and Devon, while lovely, are where people go to die. We moved to Northumberland because we wanted to live.

Those are fighting words! And I'm sure Northumberland is lovely(And I just remembered that I've visited Berwick) but I imagine it to have a nice, quiet relaxed feel too. Little different from Devon in that respect. It too seems like a place people would retire too.

To sorry. Nothing wrong with that though. I love peace and quiet.

Thesearmsofmine · 17/07/2019 08:46
