I'm tempted to say Devon but there's so many wonderful places out there and so many I haven't visited. I love Yorkshire too. What's your nomination?

MoobaaMoobaa · 16/07/2019 19:28

but if samey hills and drystone walls are your thing then so be it

you've not really been to most of Yorkshire then Grin that's the point it has completely different landscapes depending on where you are. You seem to be describing the Dales.

RezCowgirl · 16/07/2019 19:31

Somerset, like pp said. It's like Devon but not so busy.

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/07/2019 19:34

Norfolk

Butterfly02 · 16/07/2019 19:35

Love alnwick railway bookshop. But my votes Yorkshire.

mbosnz · 16/07/2019 19:35

I'm rather loving Berkshire.

Very pretty.
Good access to other places, including London.
Good shopping.
Some good pubs and restaurants.
I love my little village here.

Wiltshire is good. But. Swindon.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 16/07/2019 19:35

Kent!

oyoyoy · 16/07/2019 19:39

Lancashire any day

mydogisthebest · 16/07/2019 19:39

Northumberland

Grasspigeons · 16/07/2019 19:41

I am surprised im the only hampshire - new forest, south downs, winchester, southampton with port and airport, portsmouth with the navy. Its got so much it could declare indepence and be viable.

PaulaPennyfeather · 16/07/2019 19:46

The area formerly known as Middlesex, of course

growlingbear · 16/07/2019 19:47

People are only saying Yorkshire because they've not been as far north as Northumberland.

Northumberland is best because Alnwick (Hogwarts) castle and Bamburgh (Polanski's Macbeth) castle and Barter books - an entire Victorian glass roofed train station turned into a massive bookshop with sofas and biscuits for dogs and toy trains puttering round the ceiling and mile upon mile of golden, silky sandy beaches and seals and puffins and Craster Kippers and fresh lobster at Seahouses and Holy island and golden sandstone cathedrals and country houses and wild heathery crags and late setting summer suns. Beat that, Yorkshire. You can't. (Anyway Lancashire is superior, Ribble Valley etc.) Grin

Level75 · 16/07/2019 19:52

Another vote for Yorkshire here.

pepsimax20bigger · 16/07/2019 19:57

@growlingbear you'd only say Northumberland if you hadn't been anywhere in Scotland Grin

HappyHedgehog247 · 16/07/2019 19:57

Devon is Heaven!
But Cornwall is magical

NeverSurrender · 16/07/2019 20:00

Lincolnshire

ohnoessexgirl · 16/07/2019 20:01

Cornwall!

I've been all over Scotland @pepsimax20bigger and admit it is staggeringly beautiful. True.

confusedjuly2019 · 16/07/2019 20:05

Pembrokeshire, Northumberland, Western Isles (Outer Hebrides)

PajamasnoDramas · 16/07/2019 20:15

I have a certain fondness for Yorkshire and co Antrim and as much as I like living in Hampshire I have to say Dorset.

Has no-one said Surrey?

GoldenBee · 16/07/2019 20:15

@MoobaaMoobaa haha ok maybe I'm being unfair so ok I'll give North Yorkshire 10 points - agreed the landscape there is fab and it's got Scarborough/Whitby/Skipton which I 💕 . East Riding can 3 points for having an epic aquarium (thanks Hull). Sheffield is quite green for a city and has a great nightlife so can have 2 points. West Yorkshire has such horrendous traffic and angry drivers/car park visitors it actually scores negative 2 points effectively negating Sheffield's contribution (get your arse out your hands Sheffield you're one team). Afraid Lancashire got 20 points on my secret scoring board so step aside New Zealand Yorkshire.

Chesntoots · 16/07/2019 20:18

If you have to ask, you're not from Yorkshire!

JoyceJeffries · 16/07/2019 20:21

East Lothian
(Northumberland and Yorkshire joint 2nd for me)

StarJumpsandaHalf · 16/07/2019 20:39

I think I’m correct in saying no one has nominated my county at the time of typing and that makes me really happy as it’s unspoiled and I want it to stay that way.

It has protected coastline and countryside that’s an AONB. Market towns, a Royal town and the most picturesque villages. What the county doesn’t have is a motorway.

Where I live has no light pollution and the scenery is world class.

We have National Trust galore, wonderful outdoor venues and great sporting facilities, plus galleries and theatres. We also have some outstanding restaurants and fantastic local produce.

All this and only an hour door to door to London by public transport.

Nowhere compares really.

HazelBite · 16/07/2019 20:43

Sutherland and Perthshire.
Yorkshire has much to offer
Hertfordshire is one of the best places to live in the UK if you want to be within easy reach of London, but live in a greener area.
This may be unpopular, but I think Devon is completely over rated, there are nicer beaches in Wales and other parts of the country, and the countryside isn't that lovely.
