Hi folks,

Amazon Prime Day is now live. The name is slightly misleading as the event actually lasts until Tuesday 16 July.

For the uninitiated, Prime Day is when Amazon offer Prime members exclusive discounts on all sorts of things.

We know it’s not for everyone but, if you’re hoping to bag a bargain this year, you’ve come to the right place. Let us know what you're looking for and we will do our best to sort the wheat from the chaff and hunt down a good deal. As always, feel free to share any great buys you spot yourself, too.

To get you started here are a few deals we think are particularly good:

Oral-B SmartSeries 6500 CrossAction Electric Toothbrush - was £92.95, now £54.99

6” waterproof Kindle Paperwhite - was £119.99, now £79.99

Amazon Echo Show 5 - was £79.99, now £49.99

90 Finish All in 1 Max Dishwasher Tablets - was £13.20, now £8.99 (not the most exciting but a nice saving)

Apple iPhone XR (64GB) - was £749, now £639]]

40% off selected Lego (including Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Lego Movie 2)

Xbox One S 1TB All Digital Console + Extra Controller + FIFA 19 (Download code) - bundle price £314.97, now £169.99

You do need to be a Prime member to take part and Amazon are offering £20 off a yearly membership until 16 July (£59 instead of £79). There is also a 30-day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t fancy paying for membership but still want access to the deals.

Remember, if you don’t want to pay after the event, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel Prime.

You can have a gander at any early deals on the Prime Day hub.

We might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful to other users.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

I inadvertently signed up to Prime when I ordered something. What is it, how did I do this without realising, and what do I get with AP.?????

MarchSurprise · 12/07/2019 17:22

I am all over this this year! The main deals I'm looking for are:

50" (ish!) smart tv
Shark cordless vacuum
Philips Hue lightbulbs
A decent tablet - not sure which yet.

I'm hoping I'm not going to be disappointed and that there will be some decent savings to be had!

AliceDMumsnet · 12/07/2019 17:24

Hi @Soontobe60 - Prime is broadly a next-day delivery service for (qualifying) Amazon orders, but it also gives you access to things like Prime TV.

If you want to cancel your Prime subscription, you can find instructions here.

I was after an 8ft trampoline but can’t seem to see any good prime deals for one. Can only see a 6ft one.

HannahGMumsnet · 15/07/2019 10:23

Hi @TooStressyTooMessy - unfortunately we can't see an 8ft one either, will keep an eye out though!

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/07/2019 10:27

Thanks Hannah!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/07/2019 10:39

Don't forget to buy via smile.amazon.co.uk and you can support a charity at the same time. Not a major amount but it all adds up if you're purchasing anyway.

JollyAndBright · 15/07/2019 10:39

Check all the ‘deals’ on CamelCamelCamel (the Amazon price tracking site) before you buy to see if they really are a good deal.

I thought a few of them were good but actually the price was low until a few weeks ago when they upped it just to discount it, in reality you are only really saving 10% on most things.

Lumene · 15/07/2019 10:54

Thanks have bought some dishwasher tablets.

twilightcafe · 15/07/2019 10:55

Loved my Echo Dot smart speaker so much that I snapped up a second one. Cost me £22. So I'm happy!

TremblingFanjo · 15/07/2019 11:47

I'm after an inflatable boat - niche I know Grin

BeyondDangerousTshirts · 15/07/2019 11:54

I was after hue lightbulbs first and foremost too... :(

AliceDMumsnet · 15/07/2019 11:58

We like a challenge @TremblingFanjo Grin

Would this inflatable two-person kayak fit the bill? It's £69.99 (was £95.79).

NB - this is a "lightning deal" so it's only available at this price for the next nine hours or so.

Foslady · 15/07/2019 12:00

@TremblingFanjo if it’s a kayak you’re after that’s inflatable and you have no joy with amazon Aldi have one coming in!!!!!

AliceDMumsnet · 15/07/2019 12:13

Some other deals we've spotted:

You can get a Kindle Paperwhite 8GB for £79.99 (was £119.99). If you don’t want any ads on your device, opt for the “without special offers” version (£10 extra). This means you won’t see any sponsored screensavers when the device is in sleep mode.

The Instant Pot Duo V2 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker is now £69.99 (was £99.99)

And you can get up to 60% off Samsonite and Tourister luggage - this 138 L Samsonite S’Cure case is now £94.90 (was £150.78)

MaggieDo · 15/07/2019 13:00

I've got the Surface Pro tablet on an Amazon Deal - been waiting for a few weeks. It's likely to come down again in price for the "back to school" drive for students in August but I couldn't wait any more.

Pretty much just saved the price of the type cover on it which is expensive.
