These threads are fascinating to me. Some of the pps seem to have strange amounts or combinatoons of food. I was brought up with typical expectations around food. Three meals a day. Maybe a biscuit for elevenses with a cuppa. A 4pm snack to tode you over maybe have been a slice of fresh bread with butter and jam. But I feel like I must be very old fashioned to follow a very similar pattern with my family now (I am mid thirties).

B-small bowl of muesli, milk, cup of tea, plum.

L-Tuna and sweetcorn with salad sandwich on brown bread. Satsuma. Small cookie.

Dinner-small cod,chips and mushy peas from the chippy.

JingsMahBucket · 14/09/2019 08:12

Those fish and chips last night were a mistake. My order ended up being delayed and my food was soggy by the time I got it home. Talk about a waste of calories and money. This is good though because it’s trained me to not bother.

PrivateSpidey · 14/09/2019 08:12

Headinabook55 me too. That's what I'm trying to get back to, just basic sensible eating as you described - my diet has been absolutely terrible these past few years but I've tried to change over the last few months.

Which is why I like posting on here and reading others' posts for ideas!

Yesterday:
B: oat crisp, plums, slice Vogel's bread with peanut butter
L: carrot and lentil soup with pitta bread, apple, twiglets
D: cheese omelette with toast.

YahBasic · 14/09/2019 09:42

Yesterday was:
L: three eggs scrambled on a bagel thin with cherry tomatoes and cucumber.
D: veggie curry with rice and homemade garlic naan.

Today I’m planning a walk down to the garden centre for lunch (maybe a ploughman’s or a toastie), pick up a cake and have leftover curry tonight.

0lga · 14/09/2019 09:44

@Headinabook55

That’s great that your diet works for you. But it’s not fair for you to criticise those who eat differently . You have NO IDEA of their height, weight, age, lifestyle, activity levels, culture, working patterns, health, family etc.

This thread isn’t for judging others - please start your own thread if you want to do that.

Oliversmumsarmy · 14/09/2019 10:41

I am usually on the road or working in a house that might not have electrics or running water let alone a kitchen with crockery.

A Gregg's sausage roll and a cheese sandwich is about as much as I can manage

Headinabook55 · 14/09/2019 11:12

@Olga

I wasn't criticising. I was expressing an opinion that I found some combinations of food odd. I didn't pick out anyone's particular examples to judge.

I never said I was perfect, happy with my weight, slim, not slim, healthy or otherwise. Nor did I presume that those who ate differently to me were suffering from it. Just felt that a lot of combinations of food didn't appeal to me. Nothing wrong with that.

0lga · 14/09/2019 11:19

@Headinabook55

This isn’t the thread to express your opinions about other people’s diets and what does or doesn’t appeal to you, what is “strange”, “typical” or “old fashioned”.

Please don’t derail this one if that’s what you want to talk about. Start your own.

lovemenorca · 14/09/2019 12:10

@Headinabook55

I remember you from a very recent thread. You wrote this..

I have always worried about my weight since having mild anorexia as a teen. The body worry has never left me. I always feel like I take up too much space. I am the mid to lower end of a healthy BMI however. Its miserable and exhausting always planning the next fast day/intuitive eating whatever...

And yet here you write how simple and straightforward your approach to food is Confused

Phycadelicsilhouette · 14/09/2019 14:00

@lovemenorca I don’t think that was very fair.
Not looking to debate, not looking to judge.
I just feel that was slightly unfair.
I hope this thread stays light hearted and about what people have had to eat, I love hearing about all the yummy food and getting new ideas!

AwkwardSquad · 14/09/2019 14:48

Yup! Just people recording and sharing, in all our diversity!

And on that note, whosagooddoggiethen mentioned rubyslaw earlier in the thread - now what would the ingredients be for that? Red cabbage, beetroot, carrot? Maybe apple? I think I’ll experiment.

I hope so @Awakwardsquad Grin Just about to serve up! The food I’m eating at the moment isn’t what I’d like to be eating ideally allot of the time but it is likely to be around 4 weeks until we have the new fridge freezer so am making the best out of a rubbish situation.
Anticipating your food entry for the day as I’m checking this thread daily and am living vicariously through your food some days 🤣

jaded247 · 14/09/2019 18:16

Breakfast - Honey oat clusters with semi skimmed milk
Cup of tea

Lunch - Chicken chow mein

Snacks - Cup of tea with half a pack of Ruby Kitkat

Dinner - Not sure what I'll have yet

AwkwardSquad · 14/09/2019 18:20

Oh dear, today has not been a good day! Travelling again, not very well organised and have eaten a load of carbs... will have to make up for it next week!

Muesli, stewed apple, yoghurt (started off ok)
Cheese scone (heading downhill but it was very nice)
Small Philadelphia and beetroot chutney sandwich in wholemeal walnut bread (bread and chutney homemade but I don’t think that’s enough to rescue it) and oat crisps
Some greengages
Veggie New Yorker sandwich from Prêt (more bread...)

Frith2013 · 14/09/2019 18:21

B - smoked salmon and scrambled egg

L - cup of tea and a biscuit, given to me by a nice lady while I looked around somewhere open for Heritage Open Day!

T - will be broccoli and pasta cheese with gammon bits in - my older child’s favourite. It’s still in the oven. And some radishes as no one really liked them but me!
