As an antidote to the irrational hatred thread Wink. I'll start.

Tins of Princes Tuna that are both drained, and have a funky pull lid (not metal) that made me kneel down and weep with joy.

We have a waterfall going into the pond, three levels. It’s a delight to watch the variety of birds waiting in the hedges or having a really good shower/bath. I’m especially thrilled to see a resurgence of sparrows this weekend, they all disappeared years ago. There were goldfinches, bluetits, coaltits, thrushes, blackbirds this weekend plus possibly a warbler?

The smell of wood smoke- especially outside on a crisp winters night
Clean sheets and clean pyjamas
My daughters laughter
A book to get lost in
Silence
Spending time with little children and seeing the world through their eyes
Bare feet in the sand or grass
My dogs welcome when I get home
First coffee in the morning
Smelly melty Brie
I could go on for a while, life is about the little things isn’t it
Love this thread

Getting up about 530 on a Saturday morning with a couple of hours of coffee and rubbishy tv/mumsnet and a coffee i always buy freshly ground from Starbucks for my machine before the day starts

I bought a second hand, bashed up, three slice, chrome Dualit toaster at Nine Elms market last Sunday - for a fiver. To replace my annoying 'either burns to a crisp, or doesn't toast at all', existing one that I've generously given my daughter for the shared house she's taking up in Sept' --- ha ha .

I cleaned and polished it and it came back beautifully. Its that great old fashioned, curvy classic looking shape. I've been living off delish' cheese and ham toasties that go in the little basket and toasts beautifully. I'm so happy I may dance with the postman on Monday.

Sly little fuckers.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 13/07/2019 17:36

Fresh bedding.I have to get in the bed first too.

DarlingNikita · 13/07/2019 17:47

This is no longer current, but I used to love that Omar Sharif (RIP) wrote the Observer’s bridge column. Delicious.

Clean bedsheets

A bath (very rare indeed, these days!)

In the winter, putting on clothes that have been warming on the radiator. Absolute bliss!

Afternoon light in late summer

Sofa seats at the cinema

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 13/07/2019 17:51

Sleepy Tilly (we are camping, that is the tent carpet not my house carpet)

She makes everything better

The smell when it hasn't rained for a while and it's been warm... Beautiful.

My baby son who smiles at me every morning when I peer over his cot...

Sunrise... Makes me feel hopeful the prettier it is.. same with sunset

Any wildlife in its natural habitat..

Going for a walk in winter and coming home and making a hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallow... And sitting next to the wood burner when drinking it... Wink

The way my dog greets me with unabashed joy and stupidity when I’ve been out at work all day or even upstairs for 5 minutes.

My dogs little twitchy paws while she snoozes

Ireallywantmylifeback · 13/07/2019 18:43

Beautiful thread, op.

My list would include...
The softness of my dog's ears.
When I've planted seeds or bulbs and the first sign of life peaks through the soil
Bees
A proper cuddle off my DC
A good book
A nice long bath

DareDevil223 · 13/07/2019 18:49

Everything about my cat but particularly his hobbitsey paws and squishy toe beans Smile

Lying in my hammock in the garden with a coffee/tea/G&T (depending on time of day).

Even better when next doors cat comes and joins me.

SoundofSilence · 13/07/2019 18:55

The smell of fresh woodshavings and horse.

manicmij · 13/07/2019 19:14

My daphne plant flowering from January to April and the lovely scent drifting up the garden to the house. Just love it.

31don74 · 13/07/2019 19:15

When my dog who died last month aged 12 used to look into my eyes and then get a scratch behind the ears, a nuzzle and a kiss - I miss that so much!

PestoCaffeinisto · 13/07/2019 19:18

Watering the garden late on a summer’s evening - bliss 😊

31don74 · 13/07/2019 19:21

Oh and watching my dog console any children who may be crying and upset and be genuinely worried about them (particularly when ‘associates’ asked me if we were going to have him put to sleep because of his breed - Bull Terrier when I was pregnant)!

Stardustmoon · 13/07/2019 19:23

Coffee, the smell of a book, the smell of coffee, daffodils, the taste of coffee, the smell of cut grass, the smell of rain on a summers evening, coffee, the joy of recieving a parcel from postman (or a letter), chocolate, children's laugh, prep machine, seal food bags, packs of grated cheese and fresh sheets.

Sarell1967 · 13/07/2019 19:34

They aren't exactly little but... clouds, the shapes, shades, one lots speed against another's lots.

ChesterBelloc · 13/07/2019 19:36

The smell of freshly cut grass, roses, evening jasmine.
Babies.
My youngest daughter's beautiful face.
The rare moments when I hear my younger children playing happily together.
Seeing my older daughters grow into intelligent, beautiful and hopefully kind young women.
Lovely times spent with very old friends.
