Why can no one spell...

Does? I'm in a few facebook groups and in nearly everyone, " dose anyone know a recipe" or " dose anyone know a good film" I so want to correct that one word, but that doesn't make you many friends Grin

mainly autocorrect for me, or knackeredness, or the fact that my keyboard now has nothing on the A S or D keys to indicate they are the A S or D keys, so I get them mixed up sometimes -

apparently my spell checker is telling me knackeredness is not a word, but I will ignore it anyhow as it actually conveys my meaning without even actually existing...

and that is what communication is about - the conveyance of information to others - 99.99% of the time I know what someone means, so hey-ho who cares...

Jamsangwich · 03/07/2019 16:20

It's maybe because some of us just don't see the spelling mistakes on a screen - they're obvious on paper for me, but not always on a screen. Plus it's txt spk, innit? People are doing a million things at once so rush their communication. I also think that the written word is less formal than it used to be, in general. I see communications on a professional level that make my inner pedant curl up and die. My personal bugbear is "must of".

bringincrazyback · 03/07/2019 16:24

It doesn't help that we're all surrounded by signs selling us 'BBQs', 'snax' and 'donuts', etc etc etc everywhere we turn...

user1494055864 · 03/07/2019 16:26

I don't like seeing 'heals' instead of 'heels' on style and beauty. It happens a LOT!

RaeCJ82 · 03/07/2019 16:30

Then there are those who think that 'a lot' is all one word!
One of my colleague creates folders in employee files entitled 'Contractural Changes'.

Greenolivesorblackolives · 03/07/2019 16:32

Some of these examples are discusting.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 03/07/2019 16:41

I saw "rest in piece" recently.

Deeandwizzy · 03/07/2019 16:45

The sun is shinning does my head in. Also, I brought a new top.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/07/2019 16:51

“I seen” really grates on me.
My spelling and grammar isn’t perfect so I don’t
know why I get annoyed when I spot these things but I do.
Defiantly is another.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 03/07/2019 16:57

Soola · 03/07/2019 17:08

tadpole39 · 03/07/2019 17:15

Yep, can’t bare these to.

GimmeBread · 03/07/2019 17:17

Loose vs lose is the one that always pisses me off. I can't understand how people can get them mixed up 🤨

dustarr73 · 03/07/2019 17:19

A blessing in the skies, has to be my new favourite

sonlypuppyfat · 03/07/2019 17:23

DontCallMeShitley · 03/07/2019 17:31

'A women' seems to be a fairly new one.

amusedbush · 03/07/2019 17:33

"Upmost" is one I see on social media and it makes me grit my teeth.

Haworthia · 03/07/2019 17:37

'A women' seems to be a fairly new one

That’s autocorrect as well.

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 03/07/2019 17:38

I've seen a lot of "we except credit cards" and "now excepting applications for ..." on groups. Accept, people, accept 😤Grin

DontCallMeShitley · 03/07/2019 17:40

Why don't people check their auto correct settings or is it not possible?

pancaketits · 03/07/2019 17:43

"My child's so cleaver" Hmm

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 03/07/2019 17:43

cantfindname · 03/07/2019 17:46

My current irritation is people who appear not to know the difference between affect and effect. Makes me swear out loud.

DontCallMeShitley · 03/07/2019 17:49

Passed and past.
