Does? I'm in a few facebook groups and in nearly everyone, " dose anyone know a recipe" or " dose anyone know a good film" I so want to correct that one word, but that doesn't make you many friends Grin

Drives me mad. It’s one of the first things you’re (not your) taught in school.

chilledteacher · 03/07/2019 21:34

Amused-thank you!! It's an actual thing Blush

You get so used to seeing dodgy spellings on FB I assumed it was a spelling fail.

It looks very cute so be fair and definitely suits its name 🐀

Anyone want to buy a wall drobe

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/07/2019 21:55

chilledteacher did you mean 'eluded' Wink

MollyHuaCha · 03/07/2019 22:03

Some of these examples are discusting.

This one cracked me up. GrinGrinGrin

Borris · 03/07/2019 22:06

Que for queue does my head in.

My relaxation just found a dead Pidgeon (I despair). Confused

Captain FFS, it's really not my night! 🤣

daddykool99 · 03/07/2019 22:16

as a general guide the easy way to choose which it is , is change to or too to "very" as in "too much which could be "very much" but if it`s I go to the shop every day to substitute "to" with "very" makes no sense ,so it would be "to"

bolshevik · 03/07/2019 22:19

Late to the thread so these have probably already been mentioned but here are the most annoying ones for me:

He's instead of his and vice versa - e.g. His got he's bottle in he's mouth.

Chocking instead of choking. That one does my nut in.

On route instead of en route.

bolshevik · 03/07/2019 22:20

Also genuinely and generally.

boughtnotbrought · 03/07/2019 22:27

Agree with all of these, but none more so than the ubiquitous use of brought for bought. I live in hope that people see my username and it makes them think twice before posting "I brought a loaf of bread" Wink

LorelaiRoryEmily · 03/07/2019 22:28

Been instead of being
His as opposed to he’s

Defiantly

HazelBite · 03/07/2019 22:30

Que for cue

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/07/2019 22:35

"Chester draws for sell. Shabby chick style . One draw is broke but don't effect use. Barging at £10. No time waisters".

sheshootssheimplores · 03/07/2019 22:37

I think it’s laziness. Can’t be arsed to double check anything before you hit send.

Tigresswoods · 03/07/2019 22:40

"Here's a picture of are kids"

I had to read & reread that several times before got it. I mean, seriously???

JuniperNarni · 03/07/2019 22:50

"Your be alright" instead of you'll is the worst.

IsThatYourOverbite · 03/07/2019 22:52

I switch all the dictionary settings to U.K. from U.S. after updates when I remember but find the whole default deeply irritating. I have turned off the auto correct on my phone which helps a bit but it still turns itself back on from time to time and americanizez everything. My phone regularly makes up words and deletes whole sections of text as I press send, I threaten daily to throw it out of a window.

Bare/bear is wretched as is lose/loose.

Yesterday I read a newspaper article with a subtitle stating an offender was sentenced to three years and for months.

The trouble with the unkindness argument against pointing out bad spelling is the lack of desire to learn and improve. My SPAG is worsening and I would far rather be told when I make a mistake than not be and carry on in ignorance!

UselessTrees · 03/07/2019 22:55

I can't say I'm that bothered by this sort of thing in social media, forums etc, but I see it more and more in proper news articles and it makes me despair. 'Upmost' is one that keeps cropping up lately.

SrSteveOskowski · 03/07/2019 23:58

Could of, should of, would of.

The word is fucking HAVE, HAVE!

Sorry, but Jesus wept! Angry

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 04/07/2019 00:19

SrSteveOskowski I applaud you

It drives me bonkers.

LightDrizzle · 04/07/2019 00:45

Loose/lose
Reign for rein
People’s dads learning them to drive.
People having a lend of someone’s car.
Use of past participle instead of preterite: I seen him do it. He done it on Friday too.
All this yourselving and myselfing. It’s the last one that drives me mad. Can I get anything else for yourselves? Aaargh!!!
I’m often guilty of from/form errors when typing though, and of course spell and grammar check often miss it.

Pootle40 · 04/07/2019 07:17

I hear this one said incorrectly more than written......'we don't want to set a president'. It's 'precedent' people.
