What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

@PinkDaydreams had it from Lakeland.co.uk about 18 months ago

My Costa sunglasses.

My new car, Subaru Outback with lots of fancy stuff and a heated steering wheel. It's the only new car I've ever had and I'm in love.

My Dyson airwrap.

a grilldome

We cook out almost every night in the summer. That grill dome is the best money Ive ever spent, everything comes off perfect. I was horrified at the price when DH bought it but we have had it 10 years now and its used almost every day for about 6 months of the year and is still like new. I have the blue one Grin

Yabbers - coincidence?

I think not!

Laser eye surgery a good few years ago. The catalyst was when we were staying in a big hotel. The fire alarm went off in the wee small hours and I knocked my specs off the bedside table and couldn’t find them in the dark. DH had to lead me down 13 flights of stairs amid crowds of people, and onto the road outside. I felt so vulnerable. I occasionally need reading specs, but I get them in Primark or Poundland. I am still amazed every morning that I can see. Saved a fortune on specs, lenses etc.

My Lands End down coat. Long, warm, windproof, waterproof, comfy, innovative design. I live in it for several months of the year!

I'm loving everything on this thread, but I think that yours is my favourite, Dowser.

Thought of a couple more -
Chilly's bottles - not £££, but more than I'd usually have spent on a bottle. I loved the first one so much, I bought another just a couple of days later!

Flowers - I used to think these were an indulgence, but now I buy a bunch every week or two with no guilt at all.

Food-wise, really nice cordials, rather than nasty squash; good cheese; good coffee.

Dustin cordless and a Simplehuman kitchen bin.

SaucySpice - what's the difference between Apple and Spotify subscriptions? I'm trying to make my mind up about which to go for.

Cordless Dyson

A bit more expensive clothes from places like Seasalt

Forgot about our new bed. Superking, cost north of £3000 and I’ll be paying for it for ages, but it’s soooo good.

KatyN · 29/06/2019 15:01

I spent £100 on a set of knitting needles. I am half embarrassed by how much they cost and half immensely proud that anyone can make such perfect needles.

And a few years ago I bought a memory foam mattress topper then a deep sheepskin topper and use them both together. It's like sleeping on a cloud.

Ronnie27 · 29/06/2019 15:17

Gucci handbag I wanted for ages. It goes with everything and genuinely makes me happy when I look at it.
A ridiculously expensive bike. But again, it’s my sport and I use it every week and love it.

FairyFestival · 29/06/2019 15:19

I would have to say the Quooker. It felt like a lot of money, but I can’t live without it now, so handy.

Is anyone else spending money off the back of this thread?

My camera - it’s a small LUMIX compact but takes photos as good as DD’s DSLR with a Xoom lens.

PinkDaydreams · 29/06/2019 18:26

@SnuffleBadger thank you! Hadn’t thought of checking Lakeland.

Benjispruce · 29/06/2019 18:38

Thanks Atowel but I can't spend £200 on a bin. I have ordered one for £84 and that has brought me out in a sweat. Grin
