What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

I wear my prescription sunglasses virtually every day! I now have 3 pairs of Raybans.
Quality boots...I paid £400 8 years ago and they still look gorgeous and are worn at least 3 times a week.in winter

A really good comfy mattress and bed. Bed was £60 from IKEA and the mattress came from a company on Ebay... It retailed for around £500 and I got it for £100 because it has a slight mark on the fabric.

It's amazing. I sleep so much better and my bad back is improving.

Oo and Microsoft Surface 2 in the nice colour. Love it

@Smokeonthewater I returned my Shark as the motorised head broke twice within the first 4 months of having it! They just replaced the head first time, but when it packed in the second time I got a refund. I adore my Dyson, would definitely recommend!

My big splurge is decent leather shoes - spent 20 years wearing cheap shoes and never realised how much more comfortable decent shoes are, or how much longer they last. Buying cheap is definitely a false economy!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie it is a multi surface cleaner.
It washes, hoovers and dries thd floor all at once. No more mopping & hoovering. And can use it on the carpets too!

A sensor bin. Was more than I'd want to spend on a rubbish receptacle but not having to touch the lid to open it is worth it.

Bras from Bravissimo. The fitting process is far superior to M&S/Debenhams if you are large of nork.

Cool coat for the dog - helpful in hot weather.

Thanks. I'm struggling to get excited about things for cleaning, but glad the crossbar brings you joy!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie do you mind me asking which brand of bras you buy now instead of M&S?

I have just bought a cordless Dyson and it's changed things for the better. So easy to clean. I give a quick Hoover before work.

Also nice pottery (Nicholas Mosse mugs)

@Smokeonthewater I adore my Shark. Can easily cope with the shedding from my lab, and she sheds a lot, even by lab standards (I can brush her and my dad's two and get more hair off her than the others combined).
Only downside is it's so powerful that I have to empty it more frequently.

I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia, last summer bought a hot tub and DH and DS installed it in a summerhouse in the garden.

The pain relief is so overwhelming. Wish I had bought one years ago

Dyson bladeless fan. Bought it a few years ago for £££. Well worth every penny.

Travel to far flung off the beaten track places. We get so much pleasure from the planning and the subsequent memories.
Love hearing people say ‘you’re going where? ‘

Holly - bras either Fantasie or Bravisimo own brand.

It's a MN cliche but I swear the best £200 I ever spent was on a packing service when we moved house. It saved weeks of toil and stress.

Cordless Dyson here too, vacuuming is no longer a pain, range oven - worth every penny, ditto Russell & Bromley wedges

I've recently spent a small fortune on decorating our bedroom, new furniture, carpet, mattress.
It's my sanctuary and I love spending time up there Smile

This (although it's cheaper than when I bought it 🙁). Brilliant risottos, excellent rice... haven't tried the slow cooker function.

YES! To the cordless Dysons - my stairs have never looked so good.

And, frivolously, my watch.
It's a very expensive Omega, bought when I was with my ex-h. I came out of the divorce with very little money (long story; not in the spirit of the thread) and always look at my wrist in bad times and think, "Well, I could sell you".

Probably wouldn't though as it's very pretty.

shoes

These Josef Seibel shoes (at full price). I wear them all summer long and they are so comfy. Now have them in a couple of colours. Last years.

(Not a big fan of open toe sandals)
