What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

Blendtec blender. Smoothies, nut butters, sauces, and lots of easy ways to add more veg into the kids' food

A sleep consultant for my third baby. I have a big gap between him and the other two. It’s like being a first time mum again and I’m so much older this time round. He was waking every hour and I made it to 8 months and just got to breaking point with the sleep deprivation. Within 24 hours he was sleeping through from 7 till 7. Worth. Every. Single. Penny.

Paying out for Stagecoach for my son. It boosted his confidence & helped him with the speaking part of his GCSE English exam.

We bought a summer house. Absolutely love it. Have put in odds and ends, chairs, table, plants and have a radio and stack of magazines in a basket.
Go for breakfast if I am up early. Come home from work ( which is stressful) tea, cake and chill. If later it is a long drink usually gin and at least half an hour switch off. Jobs need doing but I can’t see them and find I am usually more productive later by having somewhere to chill out.

Sonos speakers. Music flows beautifully through the house.

My Big Agnes 85L suitcase. It's naff, bright blue with red straps, lightweight and you always know which one is your case. About $300USD.

grumiosmum · 30/06/2019 18:38

My electric car.

I can drive with a clear conscience, knowing that I am reducing my carbon emissions and contributing less to pollution.

It cost 2 x more than I'd normally spend on a car, but it's also lovely to drive.

My sheets. Soft sateen high thread count cotton. £60 each but last forever too.

manicmij · 30/06/2019 18:42

A real indulgence for me but I love it, Chanel No 5 body cream. I have to stop myself using it every single day by keeping it in a other room so I have to make the effort to go for it after a shower.

londonrach · 30/06/2019 18:44

A wankle!

What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?
Justanotherfemale · 30/06/2019 18:44

A dress, three years ago for a ball in Dubai, which cost from London £2,050. Still love it.

Loubymoo27 · 30/06/2019 18:46

Cordless vacuum, memory foam matress, doc martens and sanctuary shower gel. (I know the last one's not exactly a splurge but I used to just buy whatever was on offer but I now treat myself as sanctuary smells amazing and I can smell it all day so it makes me happy!! Grin

stargirl1701 · 30/06/2019 18:48

Thermarest 10cm SIMs for camping. Heaven.

GhostRidersInDisguise · 30/06/2019 18:52

A natural latex mattress topper. Cost a fortune but my frozen shoulder started to heal within days and it's been amazing. No compression of any sort just squishy loveliness and not hot either. Much better than memory foam.

Chewbecca · 30/06/2019 18:52

A heated cat bed, puss adores it.

LauraRo · 30/06/2019 18:52

Thanks @EvilHerbivore! I have done in the past but not at the moment, whilst my partner is working away during the week survival is the name of the game! In September when my youngest gets her preschool hours I'm going to make a push putting together a portfolio and getting going again! (I'm @mamadraw on Instagram - not that I have much on there right now!)

Londonmummy66 · 30/06/2019 18:53

My harpsichord - hours of pleasure which was what my great aunt intended when she let me the legacy that paid for it. I like to think she's smiling down when I play it.

Also, President butter, cashmere, first class rail travel on long journeys, Sweaty Betty zero gravity leggings, a Mulberry Bayswater and Rigby and Peller bras. Other than than that I'm a cheap date really.

NameWithChange · 30/06/2019 18:54

Dyson Pure Cool Me Purifying Fan. Just heaven in a hot bedroom with kids and cats climbing into bed.! Really calming lovely fresh breeze on your face. Great for hot hormonal nights too. Has a timer too so can turn off automatically.

Dyson cordless vacuum. Really truly changed my life. So easy to have a whizz round often, rather than battling to drag the old one out of downstairs cupboard and around the house.

UGG slippers. Heaven and so long lasting, had mine for years and they are so comfortable, warm and long lasting.

I second whoever said Divorce. Although V expensive, best thing I have ever paid for.

Oh and my Cat. He was a great investment. Love him to bits.

yellowsun · 30/06/2019 18:56
