What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

I completely forgot my laser eye surgery! I guess after 15 years I don't think about it any more. Best money I ever spent.

@londonrach I'm glad you explained what a Grimm's Wankel is! Grin

Prescription sunglasses. Really nice ones, in a classic style, not just normal glasses with tinted lenses.

(I've discovered I can get decent enough prescription goggles for £15 off Amazon so don't view them as too much of a splurge any longer. Frankly though I can't see where the pool ends without them so they're more a necessity...)

My patio. Total bargain due to a variety of circumstances, but it's natural slate and makes me so happy every time I sit out. Still felt like a splurge though, as I had only moved in a little while before and was short on cash.

400 thread count sateen weave cotton sheets.

My apron. Was a ridiculous price for an apron really, almost £30. But I saw it, wanted it, didn't buy it and still wanted it two years later so decided - why not?

And then it's food things: real butter, loose leaf tea, and good balsamic vinegar.

My new Mercedes - arriving in September! My splurge from a one-off windfall.! Cannot wait!

I thought M and S were the good quality bras?! They're well expensive!

HelloJuly · 30/06/2019 19:19

I'm also after robot lawnmower recommendations!!

Mine are: John Lewis mattress, over £1k
Sonos
Diptyque candles (vv occasionally) - I can barely smell cheap ones
Miele silent vacuum

JinglingHellsBells · 30/06/2019 19:22

Nothing. I always buy the best I can afford as cheaper stuff tends to be false economy, especially electricals.

IsobelElsie123 · 30/06/2019 19:23

I feel very shallow......a pair of day-glow orange Prada shoes.

Amibeingdaft81 · 30/06/2019 19:26

Yes please - those with robot lawn mowers - please guide us!!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/06/2019 19:27

Prescription sunglasses - I got my first pair recently and wished I had got them years ago.

ShadowKitty · 30/06/2019 19:27

@Nacreous I'm with you on the sateen high thread count sheets! I have two young kids and barely any luxuries in life at the moment but those pillow cases are like a hug to my inner child every time I lay down my tired face! The lady at the shop looked horrified at the price when she rang them up but I have no regrets.

I'd like to add my google home minis. We have one up and one down and I LOVE them. I use ours primarily for music, we have Spotify and it really is as simple as saying 'ok google, play different class by pulp' and it will play different class by pulp. I ask it to pause and it pauses, want to increase the volume? Does that too. I ask it to add stuff to my shopping list, set timers and alarms, check traffic, remind me about birthdays/appointments, get updates on the news. Marvellous little things.

supadupapupascupa · 30/06/2019 19:29

My weekly cleaner
Mulberry handbag
Custom Zyla palette
Pillow talk lippy
Decent foundation
Good shoes and trainers
Wooden handled pop up umbrellas
My red leather purse
My £2.50 glass pizza plate I’ve had 20 years from matalan
Splaydes

So many things!

Thought of something else, Brazilian blow dry every six months. Makes my life so much easier. No more halo of frizz, I can wash and leave it to air dry if it if I want, or takes minutes to blow dry. Hassle to have it done as it sucks the colour from my hair and I end up orange, plus you have to and live with the horrible hair for 48 hrs but a week later with colour restored I'm like a new woman.

OralBElectricToothbrush · 30/06/2019 19:31

Le Mystere are far better!

justasking111 · 30/06/2019 19:33

My mini cabriolet, after many, many years of child/dog carrying practical vehicles. I love it. OH is on at me to buy a new practical car.

SpitefulBreasts · 30/06/2019 19:35

Simba mattress, 1000 thread count sheets, De Longhi bean to cup coffee machine with a hot chocolate maker attachment. Business class flights for a spur of the moment trip to Australia.
Holiday home in a European country. We can just go there whenever we want to. My kitchen diner extension, I love it, we spend most of our time in there.

Nacreous · 30/06/2019 19:37

ShadowKitty

These were a total splurge when I was still desperately saving for a house deposit. 4 years old so far and still going strong. Happiness every time I use them :)

SmellMySmellbow · 30/06/2019 19:37

Vax Air Purifier for my allergies, decent quality perfume (Hermès), Lakeland heated airer, All Saints leather jacket, 1 nice jumper instead of 4 shit ones, my glasses.

skybluee · 30/06/2019 19:40

mia clarisonic 2

HairyDogsInUnusualPlaces · 30/06/2019 19:40

My dog.
My de Longhi bean to cup coffee machine.
My electric mountain bike. I live in a beautiful part of the uk, but the hills meant i could never enjoy cycling. Now i can!

BeyondMyWits · 30/06/2019 19:41

Denby crockery and cookware here too - 22 years and counting... one chip on a bowl edge, one plate broke when dropped.
