Why is the weather so crap this summer?

It hasn't stopped raining here for 24 hours! And looking at the forecast it's more of the same into tommorrow. How can it possibly rain for so long without stopping? This follows weeks of it alternating almost hourly between rain and sunshine and then back again. It's all so depressing and dark. I'm really missing the light and the feel of sun of sun on my skin.

I'm amazed that the media haven't picked up on how awful it's been yet? There must be a reason for it?

You are being fooled by last year's weather, my FB memories show that, alas, this is fairly standard weather.

formerbabe · 11/06/2019 18:18

It's only the start of June.. we still have plenty of time to have a lovely summer. Yesterday felt like winter though!

coconuttelegraph · 11/06/2019 18:21

Meh,we have unpredictable weather, not really newsworthy imo and I don't think it is summer yet, is it?

EsmereldaWasRight · 11/06/2019 18:22

Climate change caused by global warming.

happyhillock · 11/06/2019 18:24

It's early summer still plenty summer left for the weather to get better
This is the UK you can't depend on a great summer.

Jsmith99 · 11/06/2019 18:29

It’s just the usual unpredictable British weather.

Here in the East Midlands we had a glorious summer last year, followed by a decent autumn and a very mild winter with no snow, then a very dry spring. We were overdue a spell of crap weather.

The local reservoirs are very low and need the rain.

Did you miss the flash flood coverage?

At least the Chub Rub Club will be happy.

UrsulaPandress · 11/06/2019 18:30

Last year was the unusual one. This is fairly normal.

Crimebustersofthesea · 11/06/2019 18:32

Give it chance, summer's not even started yet! 21st June I think, so you're a bit premature to write it off as rubbish.

I do know what you mean though, this rain is miserable and we've even got the heating on today. Fingers crossed actual summer will be better Smile

Ohnotanothernamechange · 11/06/2019 18:35

Maybe im being a bit premature, but raining solidly for over 24 hours seems unusual to

We had a very very wet June a few years back. Our school fete (end of June) was cancelled as was trips and sports days. So whilst it isn't every year, it isn't that unusual.

Raining for 24 hours solid seems usual to me (NorthWest Grin).

I loath hot weather but even I’m getting a bit sick of the rain, wind and cold.

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/06/2019 18:53

Chub Rub Club! Grin

missyB1 · 11/06/2019 18:58

June is normally crap weather, last year was a complete exception. Dh always says he spends the summer solstice under a blanket!
If we are lucky we might get a few decent days here and there after the kids break up - but I’m not counting on it!

ForalltheSaints · 11/06/2019 18:59

God is punishing the UK for not having abandoned Brexit.

Or it is because the Cricket World Cup is here!

Rystall · 11/06/2019 19:00

It’s crap because the minute the sun came out last year people moaned and groaned about the heat! And that’s why we can’t have nice things ... 😎

thedevilinablackdress · 11/06/2019 19:02

You live in the UK presumably? There's a reason we all talk about the weather all the time - 'cos it's so variable and unpredictable.

BentNeckLady · 11/06/2019 19:09

This is entirely normal British weather. I’m so pleased we’re having some prolonged rain, it feels like a year or more since we had much and everything has been so dry!

KnickyKnackyNooNoo · 11/06/2019 19:18

I personally take the blame for this one.
I didn't pass on that chain letter back in 1996 and now we're all paying for it.

Sharkattack2 · 11/06/2019 19:21

My fault. Bought new garden furniture when we had that hot weekend a few weeks ago. Told DH it would be the kiss of death for the summer.

ginandbearit · 11/06/2019 19:26

The same weather 75 years ago nearly scuppered D Day ..nothing new about it

supadupapupascupa · 11/06/2019 19:31

Most years we have a lovely mid to late May, (over my brothers bday) then a wet early to mid June (my bday) Standard joke in our house. Usually the case. This is normal

AnnaComnena · 11/06/2019 19:34

I was going to say that. This kind of weather is fairly usual for this time in June. D-Day, Coronation Day, and the Diamond Jubilee were all cold and wet.

GlitterPixie · 11/06/2019 19:36

I miss last years summer

Emmabryant123 · 11/06/2019 19:37

It's bloody brilliant 😁
Absolutely loving not roasting away like last June
