"Forgotten" 80s songs or hidden gems

Are there any songs from the 80s that you miss not hearing anymore or that never get played on Radio 2 or other nostalgia type music programmes?

I've put together an 80s quiz and one of them is a music round.Given that there will participants born after 1989, I didn't want to make it too ageist. I have however added International Rescue by Fuzzbox, as the obscure one in the list.

"Here you go:

<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=forgotten80s.blogspot.com/?m=1" target="_blank">Forgotten 80s blog

It's a list of music played on the Forgotten 80s show on Absolute 80s radio."

Just the type of thing I was going to suggest

"Doing the doo - Betty Boo" there's always one! 🙄 that's 90's 😉

S express - theme from is rarely played now

Placemarking to create a "forgotten 80's" playlist later

SolitudeAtAltitude · 03/06/2019 22:06

Ah, I used to love Joe Jackson songs!

Also loved really massive kitsch 80s songs like:

Maria Magdalena (Sandra)
When the rain begins to fall (Jermain Jackson and Pia Zadora)

Both have fab bombastic 80s intros Grin

Not sure they were ever big in the UK though?!

SpamChaudFroid · 03/06/2019 22:07

One more and that's it I promise!

Bomb the bass - Megablast

AlecTrevelyan006 · 03/06/2019 22:09

overlooked songs by successful bands

Instinction - Spandau Ballet

Love Comes Quickly - Pet Shop Boys

The Night You Murdered Love - ABC

FedupNagging · 03/06/2019 22:15

Oh yes Joe Jackson, forgotten about him.

Also loved a bit of Kid Creole & the Coconuts. Dsis 'nicked' something of mine, can't for the life of me remember what, so I retaliated by taking her Kid Creole album Grin
