"Forgotten" 80s songs or hidden gems

Are there any songs from the 80s that you miss not hearing anymore or that never get played on Radio 2 or other nostalgia type music programmes?

I've put together an 80s quiz and one of them is a music round.Given that there will participants born after 1989, I didn't want to make it too ageist. I have however added International Rescue by Fuzzbox, as the obscure one in the list.

Was also going to mention Kiss Me, Stephen Tin Tin Duffy but was beaten to it. Hearing this, which is rare, takes me straight back to a particular place and time of which I have lots of very fond memories.

Also Rip It Up, Orange Juice

Split Enz...obscure... they were incredible; if they'd been a (UK) band they'd have been world famous. (Aussie here, who grew up with their music!).

I didn't know this in the 80s but it was released in 82 in Germany. Major Tom by Peter Schilling. I got to know it recently because it's the theme tune to Deutschland 83 and 86. Fantastic chorus!

Wonderful series if anyone hasn't seen them. Probably still available on More4.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 03/06/2019 20:53

Swing Out Sister - Break Out!
Immediately makes me feel happy and carefree. I was at school when that came out . Can't believe it was so long ago

Herland · 03/06/2019 20:57
