"Forgotten" 80s songs or hidden gems

Are there any songs from the 80s that you miss not hearing anymore or that never get played on Radio 2 or other nostalgia type music programmes?

I've put together an 80s quiz and one of them is a music round.Given that there will participants born after 1989, I didn't want to make it too ageist. I have however added International Rescue by Fuzzbox, as the obscure one in the list.

Imagination by Belouis Some
Party Fears Two by The Associates (mentioned earlier)

ChicCroissant · 03/06/2019 19:13

Let's get serious by Jermaine Jackson (1980, only just squeaks in there!)
Party Fears Two by The Associates

Helena, it dawned on me when Richard Osman made a comment on either a song or film in the 80s was closer to the end of World War 2 than it is to now!

Big Audio Dynamite’s E = mc2. Mick Jones formed the band in the 80’s after the Clash split and I’d forgotten what fun they were.

Ilovetolurk · 03/06/2019 19:17

I have some mad 12” of e=mc2 and it has about 50 verses. no idea how he remembered it all

pointythings · 03/06/2019 19:18

If we're going with Howard Jones then surely Hide And Seek needs a mention!

Also Kim Wilde - Cambodia.

Mythreefavouritethings · 03/06/2019 19:41

House Arrest by Krush for an obscure one. My DD went crazy when it came on when watching TOtP 1987, also the cheesy ones like Who’s Leaving Who by Hazel Dean and Big Fun by Inner City. Early Stone Roses to restore the cool.

Laiste · 03/06/2019 19:42

50 verses might be a bit too much of a good thing, Ilovetolurk. When I looked them up on YouTube, the snaggly teeth were transfixing.

CurlsandCurves · 03/06/2019 20:00

Strawberry Switchblade- Since yesterday

Mental as Anything- Live it Up

augustusglupe · 03/06/2019 20:03

Club Country by The Associates is one of my favourite songs and never ever gets played, whereas Party Fears Two does.
Heaven 17 also did some brilliant songs and Temptation is the only one that occasionally gets played.

Apparently the biggest dance single of 1988 was ‘I want to be your property” by Blue Mercedes. I’d completely forgotten about it till it popped up TOTP repeat the other night.
