What's the worst way you've woken up

DP and me spent pretty much all of yesterday exercising so am feeling very lazy this morning. DP went back out at 7 to do more exercise mad and brought me a coffee and nextdoors cat (she basically lives in our house as she doesn't like their dogs and is generally quite sweet although she sometimes shits where she ought not to

So me a DNNCat we're snuggled up and snoozing when she leaps up, making no attempt to move, and starts making a noise like a motorboat starting up and arching her back grumpily.

Anyway there's now vomit everywhere but at least I'm awake. Actually I nearly sicked up on the cat sick because other people's/species vomit makes me retch.

GOOD MORNING!

On several occasions I’ve woken up to find DS has snuck into my bed, snuggled up against my back then wet the bed soaking us both.

Once I was camping and woke up to something bashing against the side of the tent and screaming, after a couple of minutes of panic my brain woke up enough to actually process the sounds and I realised it was pheasants.

Mum, mum, wake up I feel sick,

go to the loo now I whispered furiously so OH did not wake up I heard him get half way across the room then hurl I heard it hit the floor, furniture, wall.

I switched on the bedside light, mother of god it was everywhere a real pebble dashing, a desk with pictures, the rug, hardwood floor, walls, the door to the bathroom and onto the bedroom floor. He was 14 and very tall. He finally made it to the bathroom while I dragged my sorry butt downstairs to find mop, bucket, disinfectant.

pineapplebryanbrown · 03/06/2019 00:09

octopus that's awful what / who was it?

pineapplebryanbrown · 03/06/2019 00:11

Whenever I see those armed police raids on telly I think how terrifying it would be to wake up to that. Plus I generally drool and have my arse sticking out of the duvet as I sleep. Imagine the shame.

floraloctopus · 03/06/2019 00:28

My daughter, she wanted me but didn't want to wake me up Grin

madcatladyforever · 03/06/2019 00:37

I was asleep in the car and was rudely awoken by my first husband nodding off behind the wheel and crashing into a bridge in Snowdonia at night miles from anywhere. This was only slightly worse than the appalling hangover I had when a friend came over to tell me Princess Diana had died. I honestly thought I'd die that day too.

From a coma with the ventilator still down your throat! Fortunately being in ICU the nurse at my bedside quickly pulled it out. I've never felt so panicked. You have absolutely no idea where you are or what's happening.

EnidButton · 03/06/2019 00:55

What had happened Walnut? If it's not too personal to answer. It sounds awful!

The millions of fire alarms in halls at university were pretty bad god I'd blocked these from my memory. Wailing siren right above the bed. Always at 3-4 am.

ilovepixie · 03/06/2019 01:00

Growing up in Northern Ireland during the troubles it was a regular occurrence to be woken up by bombs going off

Walnutwhipster · 03/06/2019 01:04

@EnidButton I'd had a major operating a few days before that went wrong, surgical error, was rushed back into theatre, having peritonitis, sepsis, pneumonia and an AKI (kidney failure.)

EnidButton · 03/06/2019 03:48

That must've been really shocking. I hope you recovered well Walnut and you're doing well now. Flowers

I woke to a completely scarlet child and house. My eldest was a complete Houdini and would get into everything. I had bought a bright red lipstick and he had climbed on a lot of furniture to reach my handbag. It was like the Manson family had broken in.

nervousFTM · 03/06/2019 08:08

When my baby's breathing sensor alarm went off at 4am - for the first time since we got it (and she's 8 months old) and I wasn't in the room (husband was sleeping in with her to give me a break). Turned out to be a false alarm THANK GOD but the terror in that moment is not something I want to repeat.

pineapplebryanbrown · 03/06/2019 08:09

With Houdini we went on holiday with my mum and dad. I woke to my mum screaming and flinging back my covers looking for him. We all ran outside to find him cheerfully wandering around with a kindly Greek construction worker who was looking for us. His nappy was down to his knees by this stage.

pineapplebryanbrown · 03/06/2019 08:11

With the same child I had to hide every scrap of shampoo and bubble bath etc till he was 8, he would make potions if I left anything out.

Hedgehogblues · 03/06/2019 08:25

To my father raping me

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 03/06/2019 09:12

Woke up to find the house was on fire, which was a bit rubbish.

WifOfBif · 03/06/2019 09:27

A phone call at 3am to say there had been an accident and a police officer was on his way to collect me. My little brother had been killed in an accident but they wouldn’t tell me until I got home.

Waiting to be collected knowing something awful had happened but having no idea what will stay with me forever.

Happynow001 · 03/06/2019 09:32

forgottenusername

After that I used to run a few layers of sellotape round her nappy before putting her to bed each night!
🤣🤣🤣 💩

I lived in a bungalow, it was a hot summer and the windows were open.

Dcat brought in a pigeon though said open window. It was bleeding heavily but was alive enough to flap all over the bedroom leaving bloody smears over everything.

It was hot so I was sleeping naked.

The scene at 5am was naked me trying to catch a bleeding freaked out bird.

LadyR77 · 03/06/2019 15:13

When I was a child, a huge stag beetle flew into my bedroom (it was summer, so had the windows open), landed on my head and got tangled in my hair. That was a pretty traumatic way to be woken up!

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 03/06/2019 15:28

My DH has nightmares and shouts and swears in his sleep. He is a very calm and gentle man and I think he gets rid of all his anger and aggression through his dreams. I am constantly woken up by him screaming ‘Just fuck off you cunt’ or some such at an imaginary assailant. I lie awake with my heart racing while he sleeps through it all.

I also know when he is going to wake up as he starts farting about 40 minutes before he naturally wakes. That’s fine if I’m awake first as I take it as natures way of warning me to remove myself from the room but occasionally I might sleep longer than usual only to be jerked awake by a godawful stinky fart that I can feel the breeze from. It’s gross. Luckily I quite often snore so I feel I am getting some level of revenge.
