What's your go to 'easy to make but bloody delicious' pudding or cake type thing?

I feel this is something I'm missing from my repertoire. Shop bought desserts can be disappointing yet I often don't want the faff of making something that takes more than 15 mins to prepare.

I feel this is probably where Nigella's books excel.

Any suggestions will be gladly tested! Smile

Nigella's earl grey torte is amazing.

As is BBC good food self saucing jaffa pudding.

Both easy and regulars in my house.

Banoffee pie is SO easy especially as you can now buy the caramel ready-made rather than boiling the tin of condensed milk for hours.

VictoriaBun · 01/06/2019 16:21

Something called impossible pie. You just chuck everything into a Pyrex fish and bung in oven and it comes out quite nice. Also I know it's old school but I really like pineapple upside down cake.

Eve's pudding in our house is our go to pud.
Tinned apple pie filling into a dish, topped with sponge cake mixture and into the oven until the top gets lovely crispy bits on it

Summer pudding

Beamur · 01/06/2019 16:27

I found a super easy recipe on the BBC website, tinned pears, chocolate and a cake/batter style mix. All in an oven proof dish and bake. Really simple and very nice.

Haribeau · 01/06/2019 16:28

Lemon ginger crunch, it’s super easy, few ingredients and works every time.

CharleyFarleyy · 01/06/2019 16:28

Pizza hit style cookie dough!

Only a few ingredients, takes seconds to mix together and then only a few mins in oven. Serve with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce and people think you've gone to lots of effort :)

Eton mess here.

BBC best brownie ever recipe, really are the best brownies I’ve ever eaten and take minimal effort. Serve with clotted cream

A sponge filled with whipped cream & lemon curd, is also minimal effort and delicious

Nigella's olive oil cake

jackolantern · 01/06/2019 18:10

Hardly requires doing anything but strawberries, raspberries etc with cream that you've melted white chocolate into

BillywigSting · 01/06/2019 18:11

Mary berry's banana loaf with a whole packet of chocolate chips added.

Served all warm and gooey with caramel ice cream and whipped cream.

AudTheDeepMinded · 01/06/2019 18:12

I've just made rose and strawberry cupcakes, mostly to use up a glut of strawberries. Basic cake sponge mix (6 oz sugar, marg and flour, 3 eggs, splash of rosewater and cut up strawberries). In oven at 160 for about 20 mins (but check them). Gorgeous and more fancy sounding than they are! can serve with cream or custard for extra calories.
