I just looked and didn't find it, but have missed threads a few times as seem to always look in wrong place. If there is a thread please can you tag me in it?

The true fact of the matter is that we do need a proportional system that doesn’t by its very nature disenfranchise pretty much half of the electorate, which is what the first past the post does. Most of our current problems can be traced back to this.

TrixieFranklin · 26/05/2019 23:40

Really wanting to stay up for the southern results but sooooo tired! Any updates on when to expect them?

caringcarer · 26/05/2019 23:42

My area is West Midlands and out of 7 seats Brexit Party won 3 seats, Green 1, Conservatives 1, Labour 1, Lib Dems 1. In this area leaving on WTO terms is very strong. This is stronger Brexit than 2017 referendum result.

TrixieFranklin · 26/05/2019 23:43

Thank you!

Caringcarer Bexit in W Mids have same 3 seats UKIP had. Clear remain parties gained. Don't think this is stronger Brexit result at all.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:47

South west

Change UK 46,612
Conservatives 144,675
Green 8,393
Labour 108,100
Lib Dem's 385,095
Brexit party 611,742
UKIP 53,739

tomtom1999xx · 26/05/2019 23:47

The brexit party are smashing it.

beeyourself · 26/05/2019 23:48

That's not a great result

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:48

South west

Brexit party - 3
Lib Dem - 2
Green - 1

beeyourself · 26/05/2019 23:48

Ann Widdecombe has been elected.

caringcarer · 26/05/2019 23:49

In many areas Green Party doing very well. Just seen South West 3 Brexit Party, 2 LD and 1 Green Party. Conservatives and Labour no seats.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 26/05/2019 23:50

these results just show that the country remains deeply divided

and whatever happens we're going to have live with this mess for years

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:51

Turnout was high at 40.2% in the South West. Serious Brexit win

AhhhHereItGoes · 26/05/2019 23:52

Bugger the South West has let me down!
600, 000 for the Brexit Party... how? Sad

MustardScreams · 26/05/2019 23:52

The Brexit party are seemingly doing well, but they’re basically just taking the UKIP votes who won hugely last MEP elections. There’s not a huge amount of gains if you look at the past UKIP result and the defecting tories.

If you add the remain parties results together, remain is a much, much larger percentage than leave. Which is something we need to concentrate on and not give the Brexit party the satisfaction of believing they have won in anyway.

PenguinsRabbits · 26/05/2019 23:53

Suspected Ann would be elected when Sky said she was the only candidate waiting for result.

Drasticaction · 26/05/2019 23:53

All countries are divided in some ways. If everything on same page.

We wouldn't need democracy and opposing parties. Right now, people want to leave.

caringcarer · 26/05/2019 23:53

In East Midlands 3 Brexit, 1 LD and 1 Lab. It looks to me like Brexit Party are running away with it. I wonder how much these results would be reflected in GE when many more issues are under consideration.

PenguinsRabbits · 26/05/2019 23:54

What parties are you adding as remain? Seems a clear majority for leave to me.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:56

@Drasticaction or a shed load are looking at their parentage and working out how to leave in another way........ Brexit won't fix this counties problems. Our problems lie in how our own home grown political system works. And it's completely messed up. A bunch of former well heeled Tory's isn't going to fix anything.

whiteroseredrose · 26/05/2019 23:56

Bad night for Labour. Northern voters turning to Brexit, and Southern voters turning to LibDems

Labour need to dump Corbin and decide to agree with their membership that they need to be remainers.

WhenIsTheEasyBit · 26/05/2019 23:57

Lib Dem's, Greens and CUK. clear remain, along with SNP in Scotland.

MustardScreams · 26/05/2019 23:57

Lib Dem, Green, Plaid Cymru, SNP and Change UK to remain.

The only leave parties are UKIP and Brexit Party, and the smaller parties that I take no notice of. Labour and Tory aren’t being counted as firm leave or remain.

PenguinsRabbits · 26/05/2019 23:57

Don't think people should assume people who didn't vote for Brexit party or UKIP want to stay - remain vote isn't clear at all from this.
