I just looked and didn't find it, but have missed threads a few times as seem to always look in wrong place. If there is a thread please can you tag me in it?

Love how Emily Thornberry is looking away from Suzanne Evans on BBC.
She's doing well to tolerate sitting next to her... .

Cattenberg · 26/05/2019 22:59

@JQBased. I feel that this country is going backwards and I wish we could just embrace the 21st century instead of trying to recreate an imaginary golden age. The British Empire is no more and the rest of the world has moved on.

The reality is that we need allies of a similar size, or we’ll get shafted by the superpowers. I feel as though I have little in common with Leavers, and that they don’t care that our children will be poorer than them and have fewer opportunities. I can’t forgive them for this.

@beeyourself agree and I'm Labour. Not good at all to loose Islington. We have lost a seat in the Eastern Region as well. Heads need to roll. This is not good.

Lose not loose!

beeyourself · 26/05/2019 23:01

I wonder if Emily Thornbury is lining herself up for the leader job after the pasting she just gave Corbyn

User12563356 · 26/05/2019 23:01

Im off, ill check back in when I wake up!

EdithWeston · 26/05/2019 23:02

Eastern region have no Labour MEPs now. Of their 7, 4 are from leave (Brexit and Tory) parties and 3 from remain (LibDem and Green)

Sleepyhead11 · 26/05/2019 23:05

I'm out too.

Goodnight guys, I hope we have some good news in the morning.

London

3 Libdems
2 Brexit Party
2 Labour
1 Green

0 to the conservatives

beeyourself · 26/05/2019 23:05

I've heard that north west is
Labour
Lib Dem
Greens
Brexit

CinnabarRed · 26/05/2019 23:05

But Stephen Lennon has conceded defeat - c’mon, it’s not all bad.

Davespecifico · 26/05/2019 23:06

I feel from these results (so far), that the Brexit/remain balance is now reversed with a slight move in favour of remain. If Labour came out as a Remain party and there was another referendum, it’s possible remain would win. What do you think?

SpangledBoots · 26/05/2019 23:06

Everyone ready for an equally insane summer general election??

Drasticaction · 26/05/2019 23:07

I think leavers are forward looking. They do very much look to the future and don't feel the need to be tied to out dated Idea created from war etc.

Maybe remainers need to stop being nostalgic?

The problem is and the problem always was.

The EU is not a successful positive project.
I think without people like junker and guy.... I do think it can be modernised... fluid....

But I don't think we need it.

Cattenberg · 26/05/2019 23:09

Mrsfrimble, I’m glad I’m not the only one.

SilverySurfer · 26/05/2019 23:10

I see Thornbury is droning on with the usual bullshit. No change there then.

tomtom1999xx · 26/05/2019 23:11

Emily sounds so angry.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:12

@SpangledBoots oh no, I'm remain but I couldn't face another election not with our current voting process....my vote doesn't count 😭 You could stick a blue Badge on a penguin and they would win

Manchester results

is there a thread for watching the EU election results coming in?
MustardScreams · 26/05/2019 23:13

If Corbyn doesn’t side with a 2nd ref on Tuesday then there is no Labour Party left.

I quite like Thornberry, at least she’s not screeching over other people whilst they’re making a point.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:13

Greens are doing well across Europe

RainbowFox · 26/05/2019 23:14

@beeyourself I think that's only Manchester, not the north west.

Taken from Manchester Evening News

Here’s a very quick rundown of Manchester’s results
Change UK 2381
Con 3423
Eng Dem 524
Green 19966
Labour 40191
Lib Dem 21041
Brexit Party 15069
UKEUP 436
UKIP 2626
Mohammed Aslam 297
Tommy Robinson 2171

Cwenthryth · 26/05/2019 23:14

Anyone know where John Curtice is? I like him popping up and doing statistics (ooh err)

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2019 23:15

Suzanne Evans is just unbearable.
I can still remember her spouting the 'we don't need equal rights for women because we are equal' rubbish.

Cattenberg · 26/05/2019 23:15

Drasticaction, do you want the UK to align itself with the USA, China or Russia? Unlike the EU, they would never see us as an equal partner.

We can’t thrive without allies in this globalised, interdependent world. We have to choose who we want to align with.
