I just looked and didn't find it, but have missed threads a few times as seem to always look in wrong place. If there is a thread please can you tag me in it?

Hard Brexit parties: 33.8 of votes cast
Remain parties: 38.7

Silent majority?

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2019 23:15

Good to see T Robinson did so poorly.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:15

Angela Merkel's party are doing very well in Germany. That with the rise of the Greens across is Europe has to be a little ray of sunshine

I'm in the East. It's really brexity so I'm pleased lib dem and greens did so well. I'm surprised anyone voted Labour. What did they vote for? It was a one issue election and Labour have such a muddled policy on it, I'm surprised anyone could make a decision on it!

LizzieSiddal · 26/05/2019 23:18

I think leavers are forward looking. They do very much look to the future and don't feel the need to be tied to out dated Idea created from war etc.

Oh yes, whilst the rest of the world is joining together to make trade easier, we’re about to fuck off out of the biggest trading union in the world. How sensible!Hmm

But don’t worry because according to the idiot Liar, Dr Fox, all those new trade deals will be so easy to negotiate.

SpangledBoots · 26/05/2019 23:18

There's the piece of BBC election furniture - Curtice!

TrixieFranklin · 26/05/2019 23:18

It's becoming more frustrating that the Remain parties didn't unite for this Hmm

Drasticaction · 26/05/2019 23:20

Lizzie.

If it was still, just a trade block we wouldn't have brexit.

MoggyP · 26/05/2019 23:21

Labour has gone into these elections whilst still a party espousing Leave.

So I suppose they (and the remnants of the Tories) must count as Leave

Which I think makes the Leave share of the vote (Leave plus hard Brexit) approaching 2/3 so far.

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2019 23:21

Alistair Campbell voting LD.... just gosh

noodlenosefraggle · 26/05/2019 23:21

Yes what a disappointment change UK turned out to be. Their arrogance has been their undoing.

meditrina · 26/05/2019 23:22

"If it was still, just a trade block we wouldn't have brexit"

Quite. The referendum should have been in the early 1990s on Maastricht

AlecTrevelyan006 · 26/05/2019 23:23

Drastication - I know the Brexit argument has been done to death but the problems facing this country will not be solved by leaving the EU.

anyway... back to the election...

good to see Lib Dems and Greens doing well

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:24

@noodlenosefraggle I'm no fan of Heidi Allen, but in fairness the ChangeUK team near me were telling people to strategically vote and vote Libdem, so I don't think they were actually trying to win anything on this one. I do wonder why they set up a new party and didn't just join the Libdems??

WrongKindOfFace · 26/05/2019 23:25

I almost can’t bear to watch any more.

Pomegranatepompom · 26/05/2019 23:26

I bet my IL's in Wales voted Brexit party Hmm apparently all the money the EU gave them was spent on roads in Cardiff and they weren't consulted (we don't talk about politics now).

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:27

Crap even a Tory MEP is calling for a general election.

InglouriousBasterd · 26/05/2019 23:28

Bloody hell.

Cwenthryth · 26/05/2019 23:28

I don’t agree at all. CHUK is about more than Brexit, they’re about wholescale challenge to the current political system in Westminster - I know both Brexit and Green voters in these elections who said they would vote Change at a GE because they’re voting on different issues and under a different voting system.

Drasticaction · 26/05/2019 23:33

Alec.

That's your opinion. that's all.

venturingback · 26/05/2019 23:34

I'll support a GE as long as we get proportional representation......runs and hides behind the sofa

noodlenosefraggle · 26/05/2019 23:34

Yes but they needed to have a strong united remain vote. They were just saying that if all the chuk votes in Wales and the NE had gone Lib Dem, they would have had a couple of extra seats. Probably taken from the Brexit Party.

borntobequiet · 26/05/2019 23:34

CUK have been upfront about their motives, which I commend, and honest about their mistakes. It’s also true that all the Remain parties were reluctant to lose their individual identities in these elections - and it was a practical impossibility to combine for them. I would be happy to vote for a centrist coalition or something like it in a General Election, but I tactically voted LD in the Euros. I think lots of others did similar.
