I’m embarrassed at DP in his cycling Lycra

I started work at 8 today (I’m a cleaner) but forgot my lunch.
DP who was at home today offered to cycle it to me.
As soon as I saw him I ushered him away - 16 1/2 stone squeezed into a Lycra top & shorts (he only cycled 2 miles) everything bulging & not in a pleasant way 😂
I know not many look good in Lycra but really ??

Wow. Making fun is someone trying to get fit and doing you a favour is really horrible Biscuit

VodselForDinner · 23/05/2019 20:59

He sounds lovely.

CompletelyDogTired · 23/05/2019 21:00

He’s not trying to get fit.
He doesn’t work while I work 10 hours a day supporting us

Is this about more than his sporting attire, OP?

lifebegins50 · 23/05/2019 21:01

My ds wont let his Dad go out in lyra..its roles reversal as he will say "go back upstairs and change you can't go out like that"..Smile
You don't need lyra to cycle, there are cycling shorts which have the padding but don't cling. I suggest you send him links!

CMOTDibbler · 23/05/2019 21:02

You should be proud of him for getting out and exercising. I know people way heavier than your DH, my dh included, who pull on the lycra (which is very practical and sensible for cycling) and cycle incredible distances.

NB. I'm no glamour model in lycra either, and I don't give a rats arse - I wear appropriate clothes for the sports I'm participating in

Bluntness100 · 23/05/2019 21:02

I don't think any cyclist looks good in Lycra. With their little helmets, goggley glasses and generally quite skinny bodies, all trussed up in Lycra, blocking the roads, they look very odd.

I'd have shoed my husband off too if he turned up dressed like that.

KatnissMellark · 23/05/2019 21:02

Well him not working while you support the two of you is a different issue. Your first post makes you sound horrid though, sorry.

It sounds like you resent him. Maybe you should do something about it if its making you think like this.

AuntieMaggie · 23/05/2019 21:03

Yeah it's not a great look on most - but my DP had a horrendous bike accident a couple of years ago and there was barely a mark on the lycra while his skin was torn underneath. Had he not been wearing it would have been worse.

Bananalanacake · 23/05/2019 21:03

is he a SAHD? or looking for a job. as you are working 10 hours a day and he isn't. you must be shattered.

Sparkletastic · 23/05/2019 21:08

Ewww

VodselForDinner · 23/05/2019 21:10

He sounds lovely.

BogglesGoggles · 23/05/2019 21:12

Maybe you should suggest he gets a job with feliveroo if he’s so enthusiastic about cycling.

Bluntness100 · 23/05/2019 21:12

I wear appropriate clothes for the sports I'm participating in

Lol we all know for a lot of them they think if they wear the weird gear they will look the part and do it for nothing else other than thinking it's a uniform.

No one needs to wear ful, Lycra gear to cycle two miles. And I wouldn't consider cycling two miles to take your wife's packed lunch to her as participating in a sport. Don't be daft. 🤣

CompletelyDogTired · 23/05/2019 21:13

Seeking work or looking for the right job as he says.
I left at 7.30 this morning & got home at 7 after stopping off for shopping. Absolutely shattered.
My real point which in fairness didn’t come across in my OP is that there are very few who can pull off Lycra & a 2 mile ride doesn’t really warrant the full kit .

16.5 stone squeezed into Lycra is not a good look. And also sounds unnecessary for 2 miles. There are plenty of cycling shorts which are baggier and less in your face. Such as:

Nomintrude · 23/05/2019 21:20

You sound lovely Confused

Summerorjustmaybe · 23/05/2019 21:24

Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 23/05/2019 21:27

Tell him to peddle his arse to a job interview.

Littlechocola · 23/05/2019 21:28

Nice of him to deliver your lunch.

FiremanKing · 23/05/2019 21:30

Years ago my daughter fell of her bicycle and two ‘professional’ cyclists stopped to help her.

She was 15 at the time and I still laugh at her hilarious description of her sitting on the pavement her face on a level with the Lycra clad crotches of the two guys as they came over to help her!

EdWinchester · 23/05/2019 21:30

My dh looks gorgeous in his lycra. He does weigh 11.5 stone though.

MsTSwift · 23/05/2019 21:33

Mine looks good in it too. He has an amazing figure from all the cycling. It’s a nightmare tbh I am normal his body is like the cover of men’s health.

pictish · 23/05/2019 21:40

2 miles does not require Lycra. Can’t believe he got changed into his gear for it.
As for his size and how he looks, won’t comment. You see people of all shapes and sizes in activewear these days. I think it’s fine.
Just sounds a nob to get all trussed up for nothing.

lboogy · 23/05/2019 21:43

Lighten up will you guys? Tough crowd in here OP. I took your post with the humour I'm sure you intended. And you're right, no need for Lycra when you're not doing Tour de France
