We do use loose leaf tea but also teabags for convenience . Up til now we have been happy with Twinnings Assam, but lately having been finding them variable and even bland . So asking for a good, strong flavour teabag. Any suggestions ?

My partner works for Ringtons. It depends on what you like, however Ringtons make all of Sainsbury's, M&S and Fortnum and Masons Tea. As well as their own. They have a large percentage of China and Japan too. You just need to know if you like a strong tea or a weak tea. Their tea tasters are among the best in the world. But it's all down to personal preference

howwudufeel · 13/05/2019 20:16

I love how Ringtons still drive around in liveried vans, delivering tea. It’s good stuff too.

Yorkshire, made like builders tea,
None of that Tetley or worse PG shit.

Thompsons
Find it in Morrisons, used to be called Punjana. Bright red packet, it's so clean tasting
@thesunwillout, thanks for that and everyone else who said Punjana, had never heard of it before, turns out it's made in Northern Ireland.
I ran out of my usual Co-op 99 (flavour most reminds me of tea of my childhood) and bought Dorset tea while it was on offer. I don't know if it has changed, it used to be okay-ish, but now it was quite unpleasant even 🙁, literally couldn't finish my cup, tried twice.
Was passing by Morrisons, went to look for Barry's or Punjana/Thompson's. They didn't have Barry's but Thompson's was on offer. It also had 3 stars from the taste award panel thingie.
I made it as soon as I got home, tea bags smell nice, actually have aroma of tea leaves, the tea first I wasn't sure about, but it's good to drink with or without milk, it's really well-rounded and much more expensive tasting than it is or any other expensive teas I tried! I think it will be my new favourite. Co-op's red box is still good but far more thuggish in comparison :)

I might also try some this Aldi one people've suggested if I'm ever near an Aldi... Dorset tea will go to a church playgroup I think!

SoftBlocks · 13/05/2019 22:40

Yorkshire for hard water.

toomuchtooold · 14/05/2019 06:21

Punjana for me - or Thompson's signature, which is what I'm drinking my way through right now. I live in a non tea drinking country and usually stock up when I visit the UK but this year we're going to Ireland on holiday instead so I'm picking up suggestions here. Barry's, and Bewleys? Are there any others? What I really like about Punjana is that it's strong but sort of distinctive tasting - it tastes the way fresh loose leaf tea smells, even when it has milk in.

beanaseireann · 14/05/2019 16:22

Punjana is still available in Tesco Dublin.
It's called Thompsons In small writing and Punjana in bold.

Clipper organic here, mainly because it's the only brand you can get in the UK with completely plastic-free compostable teabags, as far as I know. Makes a decent cuppa too.

If I can't get Clipper I get Yorkshire Tea or whichever fair trade organic supermarket brand there is.

Ariela · 14/05/2019 18:09

I've gone to PG tips pyramid now they're using plant-based plastic free bags.
Prefer Clipper

Ariela · 14/05/2019 18:09

but cannot always get Clipper

Pavlova31 · 14/05/2019 18:36

Twinings Earl Grey and also Breakfast tea.
Just bought a box of Salted Caramel tea which should hopefully be quite nice Smile

IndigoSpritz · 14/05/2019 21:51

Some years ago, I bought some Nambarrie/Nambarry teabags from Booths. They were very, very good but I only bought them once and haven't seen them since. I think they were an Ulster brand. I would certainly buy them again, if they were easy enough to find.

More recently, I would buy Williamson's tea bags from Waitrose but I haven't seen them for about five years. They tasted much the same as Morrison's 'The Best', which have long since disappeared.

VictoriaBun · 15/05/2019 18:25

He has tried Sainsburys extra strong red label tea ( a dark burgundy box ) and also had got a Tetley strong brew. He says they are both nicer than the Assam. So once again thank you for suggestions.

MissConduct 'mine had Barry's in the green box too - it was decaffeinated Irish breakfast tea. Tea without the caffeine seems a bit of a waste of time to me.' I accidentally decaffeinated myself once with poorly labelled tea. I twigged that it tasted terrible but didn't think to check why. The afternoon of the second day of drinking this tripe I had a splitting headache and succumbed to a four hour nap. Thought I was coming down with something. Hmm

BonAccordSpur · 19/05/2019 02:10

Dilmah Earl Grey

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/05/2019 07:14
