We do use loose leaf tea but also teabags for convenience . Up til now we have been happy with Twinnings Assam, but lately having been finding them variable and even bland . So asking for a good, strong flavour teabag. Any suggestions ?

Tassimo breakfast Tea.

Clipper Organic. Def prefer an unbleached teabag!

DontCallMeShitley · 08/05/2019 22:52

Yorkshire Gold, not Yorkshire Hard Water which has a chemical taste.

Or Barrys which is Irish and in a different part of the supermarket to the other tea bags, although I used to buy it in bulk from Ireland.

I love tetley one cup, they are great.

MissConductUS · 08/05/2019 22:54

The only brand mention in this thread so far that's easily available in the US is Twinings, and we probably have a different blend. Do you have Tetley's or Bigelow in the UK or are those just US teas?

howwudufeel · 08/05/2019 22:54

Aldi Gold are excellent. I also like Twinings.

MsMustDoBetter · 08/05/2019 22:54

Yorkshire or Clipper Everyday.

MissConductUS · 08/05/2019 22:55

ssd, cross post on Tetley, it's a favorite of mine too.

Co-Ops own brand in a red box. Really lovely cuppa.

greenlynx · 08/05/2019 22:57

Sainsbury’s Red Label
I moved to it from Twinings and Yorkshire tea.

DontCallMeShitley · 08/05/2019 22:59

I tied Punjana a while back (in London) and wasn't impressed. Also found that Aldi had changed from when I last bought them and won't get them again.

I recently went through a phase of trying to find something as good as Yorkshire Gold, nothing was, and almost went back to ordering Barrys.

Good old PG

Glengettie, but you can't easily buy in in England. I stock up every time I go home to Wales.

Ringtons!

Barry’s Irish Tea. The absolute business. Even better than Yorkshire Gold.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2019 23:08

Yorkshire - not the gold. DH and I did a blind taste test on each other and were somewhat surprised to find we both thought the 'ordinary' was better.

I like(d?) the twinings Assam too.
I used to like a vanilla tea from whittards but they don't seem to do it any more ... normal tea with a drop or two of vanilla extract does the job.

Yorkshire
M&S Extra Strong
Barry’s if I can find it

Jsmith99 · 08/05/2019 23:09

Yorkshire hard water. 2 bags in a large mug. Brewed for a full 5 minutes. Small splash of semi-skimmed. If your spoon doesn’t stand up in the mug, the tea isn’t strong enough Grin.

Imleavingonajetplane · 08/05/2019 23:11

Twinings went off the boil a while back

BillyJoel · 08/05/2019 23:12

Punjana for me whenever I can find it. Anybody know the closest taste for when I can't?

MarjorieFrangipani · 08/05/2019 23:13

Yorkshire, Yorkshire and Yorkshire Smile

LilyRed · 08/05/2019 23:22

Punjana; haven't found anything that comes close except maybe Thompsons Scottish (same manufacturer, different blend).

When I lived in hard-water areas in England it was impossible to find a good tea.
