We do use loose leaf tea but also teabags for convenience . Up til now we have been happy with Twinnings Assam, but lately having been finding them variable and even bland . So asking for a good, strong flavour teabag. Any suggestions ?

Was Lyons quickbrew but that was discontinued recently so currently on typhoo one cup. Both were lovely and cheap.

Tried the sainsburys gold label but was awful.

Whittards - especially English Breakfast, 1886 blend and Earl Grey.
Also Aldi gold teabags.

Although I had some Punjana tea today for the first time in ages and it was very nice, I had to sing "pick Punjana tea" while I drank it though 😂

Sainsbury Red Label (comes in boxes of 240) if you need a stash. I bring them back to Belgium in bulk as we drink so much of it.

It has a lovely malty flavour if left to brew for long enough.

DarwinLoves · 12/05/2019 21:18

I've not seen anyone mention it I don't think but I'm currently obsessed with Yorkshire Biscuit tea, it sells like malted milk biscuits.

I've only seen it in Morrisons and Asda and it's often sold out but I love it.

MissConduct I can buy Barry's and PG Tips in the US. Have you tried the furrin ('international') aisle?

@thefirstmrsdewinter My supermarket had Barry's Gold Blend, and it was in the regular tea section. I had never noticed it because it was on the very bottom shelf. So I bought a box yesterday. Lovely! A bit stronger than I'm used to but very smooth and flavorful. Thanks for the tip. Smile

bewaretheidesofmarch · 12/05/2019 22:43

Ringtons one cup!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 13/05/2019 00:21

MissConduct good to know. Horror of horrors the local supermarket now only sells the Barry's in the green box (Irish Breakfast I think?) but I didn't think to look in the ordinary tea aisle.

Nat6999 · 13/05/2019 00:27

PG tips, I'm going back to their loose tea, it's all I've ever drunk.

MissConductUS · 13/05/2019 00:56

@thefirstmrsdewinter mine had Barry's in the green box too - it was decaffeinated Irish breakfast tea. Tea without the caffeine seems a bit of a waste of time to me.

doubleshotespresso · 13/05/2019 01:11

Barry's nothing else comes close

NottonightJosepheen No sadly not in Ireland but I receive regular parcels ;-) !

Aldi really???? Ohhhhh that could change tings I shall try these and report back-if I save pennies and get a decent strength brew I might be prepared to be sacrilegious !

SecretWitch · 13/05/2019 18:26

Twinnings Sleepy Time
Peet’s Assam

Glitterfish · 13/05/2019 18:28

I was just about to say the exact same. I love Barry's tea and swore I'd never change. Nothing else came close till I tasted aldi's McGrath's- a great alternative to Barry's

reservoircats · 13/05/2019 18:31

Typhoo or Teapigs everyday. I feel like they require the least effort to get the strength of tea I like

SecretWitch · 13/05/2019 18:32

MissConductUs- Amazon has a great selection of lovely tea. I buy Taylor’s and Peet’s from them.

SecretWitch when you say Peet's tea, do you mean the Mighty Leaf tea brand owned by Peet's Coffee?

I have seen the great selection of teas on Amazon. I've found that their grocery items are often more expensive than what I'd pay at my local Stop & Shop, which was the case for the Barry's Gold Blend. I'm also wary of what use by date I'll get buying from Amazon. That's been a bit of an issue when I've bought Peet's coffee from them.
