What is your tea bag of choice ?

We do use loose leaf tea but also teabags for convenience . Up til now we have been happy with Twinnings Assam, but lately having been finding them variable and even bland . So asking for a good, strong flavour teabag. Any suggestions ?

For standard back tea...clipper (the green box), or an Assam.

Twinings everyday is the most revolting tea I have ever tasted! Even dh m, who isn't usually fussy, can't stand it. I can't figure out how it tastes so awful!

reluctantbrit · 09/05/2019 09:51

Clipper organic but it is not strong enough for DH but as he prefers PG tips I doubt he knows what he is thinking.

Yorkshire is another one I like.

We buy out loose tea from Fortum and Mason, they also do the same tea in tea bags which I take with me on holiday.

Tetley, but now I’m wondering if I should try something new. I wish you could get samples at the supermarket.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/05/2019 17:16

Sweet Rhubarb, recently discontinued by Taylors. My mornings are not the same.

WildFlower2019 · 09/05/2019 18:41

YORKSHIRE 😁

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 09/05/2019 18:47

I am a tea slag and happily skip from brand to brand daily. I’ve no shame.

At the moment I’ve got PG Tips, Tick Tock, Clipper unbleached ones, Yorkshire biscuit brew and Twinings Assam in.

Am intrigued by Teapigs. How pricy are we talking?

BellMcEnd · 09/05/2019 18:47

@Disfordarkchocolate. YOU ARE KIDDING ME!!!! Sad

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 09/05/2019 18:48

I used to buy Sainsbury's own brand Assam but I'm rarely in there these days so usually have Yorkshire.

I also use fresh water and brew for 4 mins as directed by Mr Stephen Twinning. Grin

I really like the tea bags which come in the “tea and cake” Graze boxes.

And tea pigs for posh

temperancefugit · 09/05/2019 19:24

Couple of questions for all you tea Jennies.

Does the water used not make a huge difference? I live in a hard water area but any time I go back to Glasgow where the water is very soft, the tea tastes amazing.

How does de caffeinated tea compare? I honestly can’t tell the difference but I might not be the best judge, as the day I forgot to take my tea bags to work and made do with just hot water, I realised that for me there was not much of a difference. I do drink tea as an accompaniment to a meal and without milk though rather than a drink in its own right.

I can't believe only one other person has said Waitrose Gold! Particularly the extra strong version.
M&S Gold too.

IndigoSpritz · 09/05/2019 19:39

I like Waitrose Gold Extra Strong, but I admit I haven't bought any for ages. I usually buy M&S Extra Strong.

However, at the moment, I'm on Dorset Tea. Quite flavoursome but not like ^ these.

Whiskyagogo · 09/05/2019 19:55

Any 'gold' one depending on which shop I go to.

I used to love Barry's but it's not as good as it used to be!

Water definitely makes a difference. When I visit my parents and make tea with their nasty hard water it tastes pretty bad but at home, with good soft Finnish water my tea tastes divine.

horizontalis · 09/05/2019 20:01

Tetley.

Corrag · 09/05/2019 20:04

ImTheRealHFella · 09/05/2019 20:10

ForalltheSaints · 09/05/2019 21:08

Yorkshire tea.

One of the few benefits of climate change, as you could not get tea from god's own country when I was younger.

RattyTat · 09/05/2019 21:15

Scottish Blend.

CassandraAttheWedding · 09/05/2019 23:17

Co-ops own 99 blend, I had found out about it because it scored highly in some of those blind tastings held by newspapers and didn't look back since. Switched to it from Clipper organic. Tried Dorset, Yorkshire, Waitrose Gold, all Twinings, they were all fairly undrinkable by comparison to Clipper, but 99 in a red box is way cheaper and tastes better!
Please make it with freshly (not reboiled) boiled water at nearest 100 degrees and brew for at least 3-4 min. I drink it with milk though, I think it could be too strong to drink black.

Runoutofgas · 09/05/2019 23:18

Yorkshire tea all the way!

IndigoSpritz · 10/05/2019 20:00

Does the Co-op 99 blend come with a Cadbury's Flake ?
