Great pics of him, Meghan looks radiant as usual.

Nice to see her still carrying her post baby bump and looking a little fuller in the face like the rest of us normal new mums who sit scoffing chocolate all day

I thought exactly the same - I'm sick of slebs who drop a sprig and come swanning out in skin-tight lycra (size 6). It's lovely to see someone human for a change.

I thought she looked thrilled with her baby as well - and so did Harry.

EdWinchester · 08/05/2019 13:57

I thought Meghan seemed happy and relaxed. People just make stuff up 🤷‍♀️It’s like they want this woman to do wrong.

I hope they weren’t put under pressure to do a photo call - a photo release would’ve done.

Studentnurse1981 · 08/05/2019 13:57

Oh and megan is not superwoman as some posters seem to believe. Many women , me included were doing the school run 6 hrs after delivery and if like me hardly bled at all. Everyone says on MN that she must be wearing 100 pads and be gushing blood etc I got away with just a panty liner on day 1 and never leaked or made a mess anywhere. My boobs never leaked until a good 7 days post delivery so we are all different. Yes megan had to stand in front of the worlds photos but it was less than 5 minutes standing up right hardly hard work ! Anyways I sincerely wish them well . Health and happiness to the sussexxes

U2HasTheEdge · 08/05/2019 13:57

He looks adorable..

I wish I could see more of his little face though.

Meghan looks beautiful.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/05/2019 13:59

Welcome to the world, HRH Prince Balonz of Sussex!

(well, it's only one county away) Grin

Studentnurse1981 · 08/05/2019 13:59

Nobody is making anything up ? We just interpret things different. You thought she looked happy , I thought she looked uncomfortable and close to tears. I didnt make it up it was my opinion.

Moodyfoodie · 08/05/2019 14:00

You always get these comments on Mumsnet after a royal baby. I think posters like to imagine the royal ladies are just like them really, leaking and aching and just longing for their leggings and old T-shirt’

So 'royal ladies' don't birth like the rest of us then, don't have pp bleeding or pain and would rather not be in comfortable clothes? Ok then..Confused

formerbabe · 08/05/2019 14:01

@Studentnurse1981

I agree...I left hospital two hours after giving birth. Oh didn't get paternity leave so I was straight back to housework and looking after my toddler myself. Meghan has done a four minute photo call and presumably goes straight back to a beautiful home and a life of luxury.

NoSauce · 08/05/2019 14:02

Close to tears??

I don’t normally read MM threads. It’s common knowledge though that they usually bring out the deranged, which this thread proves.

I’ll leave you to it.

Stillme1 · 08/05/2019 14:02

It might have been better to have had a sofa and Meghan and Harry sitting on that with Baby Sussex and then the paps brought in. I thought Meghan was shaky in her high heels. It might have been better to wear lower heels shoes.

ThisIsTheEndgame · 08/05/2019 14:03

All these MNers who have toddlers and school runs to contend with having just had their first child! 😂

Studentnurse1981 · 08/05/2019 14:04

Former babe nor did my dh. I'm a farmers wife and no such thing as paternity leave Haha straight back to work for me too Haha

formerbabe · 08/05/2019 14:04

I'd have loved a hairdresser to come and blow dry my hair after giving birth. I also wore make up every day after giving birth like I'd always done.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 08/05/2019 14:05

I felt for Megan too, she looked really scared, an not really ready for any of it. Shell shocked is the word I am looking for

Must have been a different video to what I saw then. She looked her usual composed and confident self to me, glowing and happy.

Such drama llamas.

Agree. She looked relaxed, natural and relatable. I'm not sure the words "shell shocked" mean the same to me as to others Confused FWIW my first labour was traumatic and left me with permanent injuries. I was still in cloud nine with my baby and never felt scared. So not all parents go through the same experiences. There seems to be a lot projecting going on here.

It was a lovely video. They both looked thrilled and clearly smitten with each other and their baby Smile

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 08/05/2019 14:06

Hope they get to chill out now and get the comfies out, now the crazies have had their bit of flesh.

StellaRockafella · 08/05/2019 14:06

Gosh, some of these comments. So much of this thread is pure projection - just because some of you had a birth that left you sore and leaking heavily, it doesn't mean Meghan did. I also find it so amusing those who still make a big deal out of the fact she likes to wear heels and how difficult she must find wearing them. She obviously doesn't because if she did, she'd not wear them. Meghan is an actress, she probably prefers to present herself in a certain light and dressed in a certain way. If anything, today's outfit is just her being true to herself. Also, of course Harry was going to be holding the baby! I'd have been a little shocked if Meghan would have appeared with the babe in arms.

I do think she looks a little overwhelmed, tired and nervous, but then again what new first time mother (or indeed any mother) doesn't look or feel this way a few days after she's given birth?!

Housewife2010 · 08/05/2019 14:08

I thought that she looked beautiful, radiant, emotional and happy. They chose to meet the press in a formal setting. I'm sure that after this brief interview and meeting the Queen they were back at home and she was back in her comfortable clothes. She has a luxury lifestyle and has Harry, her mother and staff to look after her and their baby. I was out and about and made up within a couple of days of having my children. We're all different and I felt more myself that way. I wouldn't have felt comfortable if I was housebound in pyjamas.

VladmirsPoutine · 08/05/2019 14:10

What I enjoy the most about these threads is the criticism dressed up as faux concern. You really do want her to be shell-shocked and feeling hollowed out.

sam221 · 08/05/2019 14:11

I thought they looked like such a sweet little family, especially him holding the baby. I guess this level of media scrutiny is something Megan is still adjusting too and she seems to doing her best to please the public(although some will always treat her deliberately differently to Kate because they are racist!).
She did look nervous but very happy. Plus this shoot in terms of practical purposes, was a few minutes and they both were going to visit the Queen. I can't imagine them rocking up for tea with the Queen in jeans and trainers. So I felt it was like 2 birds and 1 stone type of situation for them.
The baby looked cute and sweet.

contrary13 · 08/05/2019 14:13

I think she might still be in shock. Absolutely normal, very natural, to be expected - especially with a first baby whose birth may not have gone quite to plan.

They both look besotted. Although, I did wonder at the way in which Harry seemed to pluck at the baby's hat within a few seconds of Meghan's stroking it. And her mention of her mother being here, too (and I'm more than sure Doria is being a wise shoulder to lean on for Meghan right now, but...).

The baby is as all 2-days-post-partum babies are. Still ironing out his creases (that's why they change each day). He's also very priviliged, and already - if his parents are anything to go by - very loved (did Prince Phillip engineer a meeting pre-official meet?). I wish him a long and healthy life.

notangelinajolie · 08/05/2019 14:17

Why are people feeling sorry for her? Beautiful baby, handsome prince, hair, nails and make-up all done. She looked absolutely radiant. Yes, she will be sore but who isn't? And all the cameras are hardly a new thing. At least she didn't have to call in at Tesco's for nappies on the way home from hospital.

U2HasTheEdge · 08/05/2019 14:18

I was up and about straight away with four of my children. Home in 4 hours and no real pain. I felt a lot healthier PP than I did in pregnancy.

I am sure if Meghan didn't want to introduce her baby this way she wouldn't have done it.

PianoTuner567 · 08/05/2019 14:21

*Or brought the baby to the place in front of the stables where Harry did his bit the other day. A quick wave and back indoors. Meghan in a warm coat and scarf. All fine options.

A press call at Windsor Castle??? Nobody demanded that. They chose it. Maybe they like the grandness of it, the formality and official photos of their baby in a castle. Maybe Meghan loves all that. Don’t pity her.*

It’s pissing it down outside.

Frogmore Cottage is their private home, Windsor Castle is two minutes away, has plenty of space for cameras and equipment, is familiar to the press and has all the security ready in place.

All of that is more likely than MM wanting her baby to be photographed in a castle.

Timeistickingaway · 08/05/2019 14:21

I just can't understand why they would conduct the interview standing up in a corridor in presumably a draught. A white, sleeveless dress and high heels. She looked quite nervous and uncomfortable. It could have all been done so differently, sitting down, in a comfortable room . So awkward. However the baby is beautiful (what you can see of him), and they are both so touchingly proud and elated, its lovely to see. Good luck to them.

U2HasTheEdge · 08/05/2019 14:22

Although, I did wonder at the way in which Harry seemed to pluck at the baby's hat within a few seconds of Meghan's stroking it.

What did that make you wonder?
