Great pics of him, Meghan looks radiant as usual.

Why would she have sixteen pads on and a nappy on top?

FFS. Some women have a normal discharge post birth.

NoSauce · 08/05/2019 13:37

I felt for Megan too, she looked really scared, an not really ready for any of it. Shell shocked is the word I am looking for

Must have been a different video to what I saw then. She looked her usual composed and confident self to me, glowing and happy.

Such drama llamas.

ThisIsTheEndgame · 08/05/2019 13:38

Birdie6 when I had my first baby I had no other children to look after, and I can assure you I wasn't doing housework 3 days after delivering either of my children. I know it doesn't work that way for some but all women should be resting and taking it easy if they've just had a baby.

placemats · 08/05/2019 13:38

To add, I thought they looked like any other parents post baby. All in awe of a gorgeous tiny bundle, still in the euphoria phase and just wanting to get back to domestic bliss.

whitershadeofpale · 08/05/2019 13:40

I agree with escapade1234 it was just bizarre. The getting dolled up bit is always false but somehow makes more sense when you're actually on your way out of the hospital, there wasn't even a proper look at the baby so the whole thing just seemed completely stupid, a released picture would have made far more sense.

placemats · 08/05/2019 13:41

I had a shower post my first baby after an hour. Pure bliss.

Sleep and rest is important but it doesn't mean you are incapable of putting on a nice dress and going out.

I knew someone who went to the supermarket with their 10 hour old baby.

whitershadeofpale · 08/05/2019 13:42

Or maybe some people are more emotionally intelligent then you NoSauce. Meghan looked happy, but nervous and uncomfortable, not her usual assured self at all. She looked like she couldn't wait to take her baby and run, which is perfectly natural.

Honeyroar · 08/05/2019 13:43

I agree Nosauce. It looked like a typical Harry/Megan press call with her perfectly happy in the limelight. Their engagement was similar (still dressed in white).

ThisIsTheEndgame · 08/05/2019 13:43

I had a shower and washed my hair the next morning (late birth) but forgot to pack a hairbrush in my hospital bag so my hair looked like a birds nest going home.

escapade1234 · 08/05/2019 13:43

You always get these comments on Mumsnet after a royal baby. I think posters like to imagine the royal ladies are just like them really, leaking and aching and just longing for their leggings and old T-shirt’s. I guess it makes them feel a certain proximity, a closeness to Meghan or Kate - they’re one of us.

Harry and Meghan chose to do it this way. They made it harder for themselves. It wasn’t needed. And she didn’t not have to wear such a formal uncomfortable looking dress and heels. But she chose to. Her choice. Nobody would have thought badly had they emailed out a few nice photos of them all at home. Or brought the baby to the place in front of the stables where Harry did his bit the other day. A quick wave and back indoors. Meghan in a warm coat and scarf. All fine options.

A press call at Windsor Castle??? Nobody demanded that. They chose it. Maybe they like the grandness of it, the formality and official photos of their baby in a castle. Maybe Meghan loves all that. Don’t pity her.

augustusglupe · 08/05/2019 13:43

Well after DDs birth 30 years ago I think I looked shell shocked for weeks! My hospital consultant said something to that effect when he was doing his rounds Grin I think she looked great but also think she looked like she’d really rather not be doing the photo call. I honestly think it would’ve been less stressful just doing it the conventional way. Straight out of hospital, a few smiles and waves then in the Range Rover, home, feet up, done.

NoSauce · 08/05/2019 13:45

She did not look nervous or uncomfortable, she was chatting and smiling. She looked happy which I’m sure she no doubt is.

escapade1234 · 08/05/2019 13:46

And the baby’s face wasn’t even properly visible.

And the dress was absurd for both the weather and the occasion. But again, her choice. I’m sure nobody forced her into it

Springwalk · 08/05/2019 13:48

NoSauce I saw a scared new mother, I think we all did.

She doesn't need to be an all confident power house all of the time, she is a human being!

I think she came across as being much more gentle and down to earth, and this is not a bad thing, people hopefully will really get behind the couple if they show warmth and humility. I am very happy for them, Harry looked very timid holding his precious new born, all three looked very endearing.

Ivegotthree · 08/05/2019 13:48

She def looked edgy and uncomfortable. I'm sure we all would be.

higgyhog · 08/05/2019 13:50

I was so pleased with DS1 I circulated all my topless photos with his
little bacony bloodstained head nestled up to me to all the relations. I was so euphoric at what we had achieved ( no more or less than any other mother) that decorum didn't matter . I could not have paraded about in heels and a dress anyway as the one generous sized dress i took to the hospital would not do up over my ample tum.

Studentnurse1981 · 08/05/2019 13:50

Megan looked so nervous and like she would burst into tears at any moment. Her dress was not very comfortable looking and she just seemed completely overwhelmed and wanted to get out asap. Poor girl looked exhausted. It was nice to see her looking puffy and like the rest of us. Both him and megan didnt seem as relaxed as Kate n wills. The euphoria looked as though it had definitely wore off. I wish them well and hope they get some rest soon.

whatdoesthis · 08/05/2019 13:50

There's quite a bit of drama on this thread.

I'm sure very many new Mothers are up and about and able to function very soon after birth. Lots aren't and I'm sure if she wasn't well then they would have waited.

I was up and about doing the school run as I'm sure many of you were.

Springwalk · 08/05/2019 13:51

nosauce why are you pretending she didn't look nervous? It doesn't make Megan weak to look like any mother would on day two.

Xyzzzzz · 08/05/2019 13:51

Firstly the baby is adorable.

I do agree MM seemed a bit uncertain and not as poised as she normally is. However, she is human and has been through a big change not just hormonal but also physically. I’d probs have worn smaller heels imo.

That being said I’d much rather have done a Kate stood on the steps and done in 5 mins and then stick to my mat leave.

This process seems a lot more overdrawn and harder imo.
Either congrats to them and wish them the best.

Cherrysherbet · 08/05/2019 13:51

I think there should have been an official photo released to share, and one camera recording the conversation. Why so many cameras flashing in that little babys face? That would have pissed me off!!! He’s 2 days old ffs. You could see how protective Meghan was feeling. I thought she whispered to Harry ‘ that’s enough’ at one point....or did I imagine it?! Might just be me!

I think they all looked beautiful. Good luck Meghan and Harry. Enjoy your gorgeous new baby boy.

Studentnurse1981 · 08/05/2019 13:53

I agree with escape though cos they have made it harder on themselves as nobody really cared to see them in person and some staged photos would have sufficed. They chose to do this and Megan actually could have said no photos if she so wished. She did not look at all happy and to be honest this will have more people gossiping than ever now as it was such an un comfortable press call.

Forumqueen · 08/05/2019 13:54

I’m soooo confused as to what everyone was watching. Must have been a different video to mine. She looked radiant happy and quite content!!! I think people are just hoping and wishing that she’s miserable ....the interview lasted just moment. She’s probably forgot about it already. They both chose to do it this way and they looked chuffed .
Feel sorry for her???? She is the last person you should feel sorry for . She is literally the happiest person right now. Married to a prince and just had his baby. C’mon now!!

NoSauce · 08/05/2019 13:54

NoSauce why are you pretending she didn't look nervous?

I am not pretending anything. I am going off what I saw. Happy, relaxed and proud.

Theoldwoman · 08/05/2019 13:55

I love him!

She's brave wearing white!

Can't wait for his name!
