I'm having a baby TODAY!

I am wide awake because I have to be at the hospital at 7am, because I am having a baby today Grin

This is the end of a long road of fertility tests and IVF, so it feels surreal that she will finally be here in the morning (caesarean, hence why I know she'll be here soon!) I am so excited.

How am I meant to be able to sleep?! I feel like a small child at Christmas!

Argh!

No point to this post, I just wanted to share my excitement because I am bursting Grin

Good luck Op!

You've made me all excited for October when I meet my little one!

I'm excited for you! How lovely! How I would love to travel back in time and breathe in deep sniffs of my newborns (sounds way creepier than it is I promise). Cherish every moment Thanks

TokyoSushi · 03/05/2019 10:08

Good luck OP!! Super exciting!

CrashOverride · 03/05/2019 10:08

Flowers hope it goes well!!

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/05/2019 10:11

This had made me so emotional, newborn snuggles are the best. Tiny babies feel and smell so wonderful. I can remember the first time I held my babies, nothing better. Good luck.

EyeDrops · 03/05/2019 10:12

Oh this thread has made me feel all teary! How wonderfully exciting, enjoy those precious cuddles! Nothing like a newborn baby smell Smile and how warm and snuggly they are!
All the best to you Thanks

AfterTrentham · 03/05/2019 10:52

How wonderful. Good luck. I second the comment about making sure you get videos as well as photos.

Don't be afraid to ask for pain relief post-op - I needed a couple of doses of Oramorph in the first day after my section.

If your baby is jaundiced, it can be a vicious circle as they become too sleepy to breastfeed, then they don't suck enough to stimulate your milk supply - even if you plan to EBF in future, sometimes a small amount of formula as a top-up can actually help to promote breastfeeding by helping to clear the jaundice. Don't be afraid to discuss this with your midwife if you're breastfeeding and baby is jaundiced and sleepy. Nobody warned me about this, and I think it's a reason my milk supply was poor. I'm a doctor but until I had my child I didn't realise how difficult it can be to establish breastfeeding in a jaundiced, sleepy baby!

Congratulations sweety. I love remembering the day I gave birth, and my boy is only three months. Hope everything is good and you both are okay x

OrdinaryGirl · 03/05/2019 15:18

Hope all is well with you OP. 💗

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 03/05/2019 15:53

Oh, how beautiful! You've brought back some very happy memories for me.

After a very difficult two day birth ending with an ECS I was given an elective CS for DS2. The build up to that wonderful day was so exciting. I had a whole week to look forward to seeing my DS2 for the very first time.

You must have got her in your arms by now. Lucky, lucky woman... Flowers

Just the thought makes me broody - which considering DS2 is now 23 and I'm well past the menopause - is pretty daft. Grin

❤️❤️❤️

What a beautiful, lovely, happy post to read. Congratulations and good luck.

(Please, don’t feel sad or bad if it’s not as huge and emotional or wonderful as you’ve imagined it will be - it does feel absolutely fantastic for many people, and I fervently hope it does for you, but for many people it just feels a bit flat or as if it’s not really real, or just completely different to what you thought it would be. All of those are okay too, and perfectly normal.)

Welcome to the world, little one! 🌷

Flamingosnbears · 03/05/2019 16:12

Your post just made me smile OP after I’ve Ben lying in bed crying feeling guilty and sad at 38 weeks pregnant- felt like I was down a hole of sadness all day but reading your excitement just pulled me right back to reality. I’m booked in for a section not this week but the next so I’ll be you soon! Hope all went well xxxx

OrdinaryGirl · 04/05/2019 22:03

Bumblebee, hope you pop on here when you get a sec. The aunties worry. X

Dollywilde · 04/05/2019 22:07

Oh darling. My mum told me about the morning she woke for her CS and she watched the sunrise knowing her life was about to change forever.

Hope your having snuggles and all went well. Can’t wait until the update. Xx

bumblebee1987 · 04/05/2019 23:46

I am so sorry for not updating sooner! My little poppet is here and she is absolute perfection and we are home Grin I am totally in love with her. She is called Rose. I am really struggling this evening with pain after my C-section, she was a big girl 9lb 9oz, and had got quite stuck, so I think there was a lot of tugging going on, and I lost quite a bit of blood, which probably doesn't help with the pain. I have been discharged with paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine, but I haven't taken the codeine yet as I was really sick all day after my operation, and I'm paranoid the the codeine is going to make me sick again.

Sorry, I don't mean to put a downer on what was previously a lovely thread! She is worth every ache, pain and sickness. I am totally besotted with her Grin
